In a previous thread, there was a short discussion about how square signs are the most likely to change our lives completely. Or at least mess with it, as someone pointed out. We mentioned the fact, but no one specified just how and why they had been so strongly affected. Well, I'll share a few of my stories.

I've had three close libra friends. It ended disastrously with each one. But they all three taught me so much. Maybe it has to do with my ascendant being in libra, but I'll share what I learned from each one. The first taught me how to be poised, calm, and quiet in social situations, and that it's actually a good thing to not express emotions. As a cancer, I tend to be superfluous with my emotional expression and that makes me come off as overly dramatic, not just in person, but when I write, too. This girl, who was my bestie for a while, was so poised, fashionable, well put together at all times, quiet and low key on the emotions, that it made me want to tone down my cancerian tendency to dress like a hippy, number one, my tendency to mother everyone, and my loudness in certain social situations. She also taught me what classiness and good taste is all about and that it's very possible to have the perfect life

The other libra made me see that there isn't as much to fear in life as I thought. He opened up my world and brought me out of my comfort zone. He showed me the skills to make people laugh, and how to treat everyone politely, so that it's all of a sudden really simple to assert yourself. He also taught me to look for the fun in everything, and that there's always a bright side, and a way to make a seemingly hopeless situation something to laugh about. He made me actually like breaking the rules a little bit and not being afraid to break stereotypes and taboos and be myself, and most of all, to not be afraid to stand up for myself and not feel bad about doing it. He also, similar to the first libra, taught me how to curb the emotional intensity of my responses. Before I used to be really giddy sounding when I would write things on Facebook, etc, buft because if him I try to make sure to keep things strictly unemotional and to tone down the mushiness and "creative self-expression" by a lot. He did show me how to do this while infusing humor into what I was saying. So, in other words, he taught me how to be funny, without coming off as an annoying 8 year old girl
online. But the same can be said about me in person. He also taught me how to show others love . He really did. Because of him, I feel I can show my friends how much I appreciate them because I'm more independent thanks to him, and can express myself more assertively and take the lead.

The last libra in my life totally transformed me. He was quiet and curt in his responses, not just in person, but online, and at the same time, he was sweet and charming. Since the way he would write online was so simple and matter-of-fact, it really helped me to be less clingy-sounding in the way I write online. I get to the point a lot faster, I say what I have to say, and I don't include any "Awww" 's or "lmao" 's. No extremes of emotion. Since he was so quiet in person and still seemed so comfortable in his skin, he also inspired me to be more accepting of myself and to not need to call out for attention by doing something dramatic all the time (leo moon).

The aries in my life, I've definitely lost count of. Lol. There have been a lot, and def more on the annoying side than on the enlightening side. But there have been a few who really changed me. Well, a few who kind of changed me, and one who really did. He woke me up to everything and made me appreciate everyday a lot more. After him, I realized that you shouldn't be afraid to live on the edge. He does rock climbing and travels a lot to different countries to rock climb. He takes amazing pictures of nature. His personality is really attention seeking, but online he is really simple and straightforward. He just taught me that there is a lot more to enjoy about life than I thought, and that you make your own destiny.

I knew a libra chick who was a thief, user, liar and backstabber. Worst person I have ever met.

Overbearing mom is a taurus. So was my insane abusive ex. But my best friend since I was a kid is a taurus too. Three close scorpio friends. Also have a scorpio cousin that I despise.

Capricorn sun here.

I've always had a hard time with Aries, maybe because it's my Chiron sign.(?) And my close Aries friend "stole" my boyfriend once, and that took a few years to get over. Actually, no, I never got over that.

Libras make me feel self-conscious, like my heaviness threatens to throw them off balance, so they're looking at me a bit distrustfully, and I sense it.

Next to the cute sprite Aries and polished socialite Libra, I feel very heavy indeed.

My two best friends are Pisces...you know gravity isn't as much of an issue in the water.

Thank you, Regardes,

I agree with you:

quote:
I think that you balance us out: we can help you let go and loosen up, and you can help us be more practical and responsible.

So true...although I'm not sure I make anyone responsible, just look at things a little differently. I'm not the world's most practical goat.

Anyway, I was feeling a bit awkward and your friendliness smoothed me out, so thanks. And now that you mention it, I love talking to my Libra sister-in-law who makes the world feel right again. She's kept me sane.

Geez I'm starting to get choked up (Pisces moon, ahem.)

Glad to hear "my people" the Caps are good to you. I DO try to make people feel at home with me, too. And I draw well..LOL!

Cheers, fellow cardinal sign. Thank you.

P.S. What about having Scorpio Venus would keep love away?

Aries Sun here

My best childhood friend was a Cap girl. For years we were very close, like sisters, then at one point she stopped being friends with me... i was soo sad, it took me years to get over So it was a huge lesson.

My Mother is a Cancer Sun, and well, i've always tried to rebel against her over-protectiveness. Its not easy... I learned a lot though from her about taking care of others, which is good for my 7th house N.Node.

I got my biggest lessons so far from Scorpios, my quincunx sign

DreamyAriesGirl,

On behalf of all Capricorns, I apologize. That's so sad. Squares strike again!

Regardes,

About Capricorn, the *good* kind who don't abandon friends...

My favorite astrologer Gary Goldschneider calls the sign of Capricorn "The Month of the Supporter." I think that's the old chateaux you are talking about. To me, there's something reassuring and permanent-feeling about my relationships with other Capricorns. I might not see one for fifteen years, but I know they'll be as warm and accommodating to me as they ever were. Because that's always been my experience with them, no exceptions.

WOW to your Scorpio in Venus description. Your clarity and presence of mind are amazing, and I love your high standards! Man if only more people had that.

quote:
I need to feel closely connected to people--to start feeling connected at some point and to have that go deeper and deeper. People seem to have an issue with this.

WOW again...well...how deep do you go?

As a Capricorn I hate to admit defeat in the "depth" department, but I have to say, my Scorpio brother is deeper than me. And sometimes I actually come away from friendly conversations with him feeling spooked, because I know he could've taken the discussion even deeper. I feel like a ghostly protoplasm clings to me after talking with him sometimes.

Do you ever actually look up someone's chart if you are attracted to them, to see how they will tolerate your Scorpio energy? Surely Pisces can handle you?

Like I have a Pisces moon and I'll bet my brother can talk to me more than most people because of it. It trines Uranus in Scorpio and I read somewhere that this aspect, moon trine Uranus, makes people feel that they can tell me anything. Indeed, I am continually astonished at how MUCH people tend to tell me very soon after meeting them. And they often say, "I can't believe I'm talking about this, we just met!" Now in my mid-30s I've come to expect it, and I'm grateful that I can maybe help people by just listening compassionately.

I've heard about tragic deaths, lost love, messy divorces, breast reduction surgeries, sexual abuse history, secret obsessions, you name it- first time I meet people. It's uncanny.

Anyway, thanks very much for sharing this about yourself, I truly love listening to people's stories, as you can guess. Feel free to talk more whenever, although we might just take over threads here whenever we bump into each other

I've done that on forums before...take over threads because I don't let topics drop.

*blush*

With apologies in advance for hogging space,
Faith

Faith, I appreciate your long posts on my thread so much. I don't see it as taking over at all. <3 But much the opposite. I see it as adding important ideas to the discussion.

Okay thank you, RunAroundScreaming! I like this thread- good idea. And I liked your first comment even though I didn't respond.

Well even if you write "superfluous" <3s, they still are <3s and your warmth shines through.

Are you a girl? Did you marry him? You sound like a cute couple!

quote:
The last libra in my life totally transformed me.

Hmmm....maybe THAT was the better guy?

Gosh, I like that guy, too...I married a rock climber myself!

Sorry, I have Venus conjunct Neptune and see little hearts all over everything.

Yea, these things happen, i've understood since then. But life is REALLY weird. Today i went to a new dancing place with friends, and this Cap girl was there too.
I havent seen her for ages... its still sad that we're not even talking, but anyway, it was good to see her

They still are what? lol

We saw each other only as friends, but he was a great best friend for a while

Lol YES definitely. He was. I was so in love with him.

Lol, you're too cute. Did you really, though? I didn't think there were that many rock climbers. It's a small world

Lolol that's too funny. It's okay, I'm a cancer (with sun opposite neptune and venus quincunx neptune) and I write hearts all over my class notes when I'm daydreaming.

Regardes,

quote:
Plus, I wouldn't want someone to just tolerate the Scorpio side of me. I would want the person to LOVE it. Or, at the very least, to be afraid of it a little bit, but just a hair, and still have intrigued win out over frightened.

That is so wonderful. I LOVE high standards, I marvel at them. I never had that! LOL

I had low self-esteem about love when I was single. (Skipping the very long astrological backstory.) So I guess I was "projecting" when I talked about people merely "tolerating" your awesome Scorpio Venus. My apologies! Of course it's lovable and a little fear-inspiring. Just a tad.

DreamyAries:

That is so uncanny that you ran into your Cappy ex-friend just as we were talking about her. Fate?

RunAroundScreaming:

Yes! Really, he's a rock climber. Ice-climber too.

quote:

Typical. I love Cancers. My one Cancer friend always clobbers me with hugs and tells me she *needs* me. Who else does that to an icy Capricorn???

Few!
