Just wondering what people feel about the effects of proper conjunctions (within the agreed orbs) vs having planets simply in the same sign?

For example... say someone's Venus is in the same sign as your Pluto but not tight enough to be a conjunction, would you still feel the fant effects or the 'flavour' of the conjunction yet not the full force of it perhaps?

Any thoughts?

Good question, many years ago, orbs didn't even matter,it was of importance to have planets in the same sign and that would have been deemed conj.

It is not the same, though. Having 3 planets in Gemini will add to strong Gemini energy, but it won't make you artistic (as can be with Ven/Merc conj) or vain (like Sun/Ven conj ) : very simplified examples, just to illustrate you the difference.

On the other hand,if your conscious, directed energy has been working in the full power (for example having strong Scorp Mars and Venus) at some point that actively used energy will manifest itself as a conjunction. So,work, work, work

Also noticed,in couple of cases, that if an outer planet in the same sign as one or more of personal planets,it would sooner present itself as conj, rather that having 3 personal planets in the same sign.

With personal planets.. I always feel the similarities - even if a conjunction is completely out of orb. But it does not feel as intense. I think this works because each person expresses their personal planets overtly. If I express my Venus as a Taurus Venus... and someone else (guy in my life right now).. expresses his own Venus in the same way... I still pick up on that. We like many of the same foods. We have a very similar fashion sense. When we met we were wearing the exact same sunglasses lol

But with transpersonal planets - I don't think it would work. People don't usually recognize and express a transpersonal planet on a personal level.. so unless the conjunction is in orb - the people probably wouldn't pick up on it.

Or maybe - as the personal planet individual - you might pick up on particular vibes from that entire generation - vibes that either fascinate you or repulse you.

There are some things that can make a difference though!
If he has a close aspect in natal involving his Pluto and his Moon or Venus... that would make Pluto more *personal* to him in romantic relationships.
For example lets say he has Moon conjunct Pluto at 18 deg Scorpio... and you have Taurus Venus at 2 deg... You guys might still pick up on the "vibes" here.. because there is another personal planet involved - i.e. his Moon!

But it still wouldn't feel as intense as it would if the opposition was in orb. Sometimes this might even be a good thing - because it gives you more detachment. Too much intensity can feel scary.

Another thing to take into account - are progressed charts!
I didn't usually check these but I'm starting to think they are really important. Up until the start of this year I'd met three different guys with their Mars closely conjunct my Venus. These relationships went haywire and all felt somewhat out of sync. In progressed - we did not have the Venus/Mars conj when we met - it was already out of orb and separating.. so we were just drifting further and further apart.

This year I met someone who does not have his Mars on my Venus (in orb).. but it is in the same sign - 12 degrees away. In progressed this is a conjunction that is applying and will be exact in the next few years. The attraction is actually stronger and much more *positive*. We actually seem on the same wavelength... which wasn't the case with the other guys.
So it would be a good idea to check your progressed chart aspects.. and also progressed to natal!

The way I see ittttt...

More planets in the same sign make the sign more powerful and present, but they don't necessarily act as a conjunction (right away, at least).

Liiiike, my Venus and my Jupiter are both in Scorpio, but I don't think I have Venus conjunct Jupiter traits...but they are both (wide) conjunct my Sun, soooo...

All depends on the planets involved. I agree with Betty to some degree. Outer planets ie: Saturn, Uranaus, Neptune and Pluto espec if above the horizon and not closely aspected to a personal planet will probably not be felt.

IF however, an outer is in the first quadrant, the most personally felt area, then it should be felt. For an ongoing discussions about the validity of outers, try here.

when you get this chart, please also post the *pdf file*, above left should be *view additional tables (PDF)* This will bring up the aspect grid –at a glance planet to planet. Post the whole PDF file, what we are looking for if scroll down to ‘partner comparison’ aspect grid
Please remember to reduce the orb ratio down to 40% as the max orb between planets is 3'

the thread starter was asking about two people in synastry in sign but not aspecting.

Planet are modified by signs, where they express are houses and how they express are *aspects*
