Do you use Placidus or Equal house system when you are reading your synastry charts?

My chart does not change, although my Pisces friend's chart does put planets in another house.

I have been using the *default (Placidus) on Astro.com for years. Now I am all frazzled with our synastry/composite interpretations. Ugh!

The connections involving H5, H7, and H8 are different for him when I change to Equal HS;therefore, his Partner Profile is shifted.

I would say Placidus, too.

House systems are quite confusing, though.

** Totally off topic but, StelliumH6, how does the 6th house stellium play out for you, if I may ask?

My House 6 Stellium is in the sign of Sagittarius. Virgo is on the House Cusp. The planets that fall into my 6th House are Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Neptune.

My job is extremely important to me. I knew what 'I wanted to be when I grew up' at an early age. I love my work and my colleagues. They are my second family, and home away from home. If the environment is not healthy, pleasant, and/or filled with vibrant energy I feel as though the life is being sucked out of me, so to speak. I identify with "who I am" by my career accomplishments (and failures). I do not think I am very serving to others unless it has to do with my work.

What do you think?

There is an EASY answer to this, Do you own research.

I use Equal house exclusively, I cannot see the point in swopping around house systems, when you know one works for you.

first thing is learn to use an ephmeris manually..

quote:

4newbies-Learn "glyphs" astrol shorthand and how to read Ephemeris

Learning astrology’s basics is ultra important, and like learning a new language. so in an attempt to simplify matters (where to start) is why I started this thread.

Notice when making or responding to a thread, to the right are smiles, under the picture list of ºsmilesº there is [more] this brings a pop up box with the 10 planets and 12 star signs.

sun moon mercury venus mars - these are called ºpersonal planetsº

jupiter saturn uranus neptune pluto -these are call ºouter planetsº

Modern astrologers use all these, whereas Traditional astrologers only use planets upto saturn.

there is an ongoing debate over the use of these “outers” here if you want to read up on this...
are outer planets generational or personal http://www.astrologyweekly.com/forum/showthread.php?t=39021

What is an Ephmeris and How to Use.
An ephmeris is a book or online service that plots where the 10planets & Node are for hundreds of years. You need to refer to an ephmeris if you want to use “Transits” this is the first line in “predicting” what’s happening in your life.
http://www.khaldea.com/ephemcenter.shtml

here is my favourite online ephemeris which plots where the planets are for hundreds of years...

So, click on the year you want, and then month you want. so currently it’s November 2012. http://www.khaldea.com/kldaephem/2000/nov2011gmt.shtml

now the reason I prefer this ephemeris,is purely peronsal it uses the “glyphs” and you can see at a glance

Now astro.com has an ephemeris http://www.astro.com/swisseph/ae/2000/ae_2011.pdf

Notice the red columns,(from khaldea attached) these are planets retrograding (going backwards)
These ephemeris’ are giving you degrees that planets are in and dates they move and change. With easy computer generated charts, like from astro.com we don’t have to do things manually. But when you SEE your chart it gives the planets and the degrees ie: 7º degrees,50" minutes. Now using maths, these planets/degrees/ make mathamatical aspects to your natal chart, and this is what we call “Transits”

so if you look to far right column Pluto is currently 5º37" capricorn, next going from right to left is Neptune 28º08" and so on....
http://www.astrologyweekly.com/learn...ogy-glyphs.php
here another great resource http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Planets_in_astrology

so then you need to learn what each planet means, below is from our *Education Forum*
Quote:
WHAT DOES IT MEAN?
Planets show *WHAT*
Planets represent fundamental urges and principles. For example Planet Mars is the planet of Action, Mercury the planet of Communication and Saturn the Lord of Time and Karma, and so on. The configuration of the planets will show the interplay between the planets which may assist or inhibit their behaviour in our lives.

Sign shows *HOW*
The sun when placed in Aries, will behave much differently to when it is placed in Cancer. You need to understand the energy of both the Sign and the planet to determine How the planet will behave in your chart.

House shows *WHERE*
Houses show us an arena of life where the particular urge and style of expression will be experienced. The houses of the horoscope usually refer to a more material, or tangible experience for the individual. http://www.astrologyweekly.com/forum...ad.php?t=25368

This is a great link for resources, on our Education Forum, for what it means to have planets in signs, what the houses mean, and what it means to have planets in houses.

house meanings http://www.horoscopeswithin.com/houses.php http://www.astrologyzine.com/what-is-a-house-in-astrology.shtml http://www.dkfoundation.co.uk/dkfoundation/BookKarma&NewDirections.htm http://www.gotohoroscope.com/houses-in-chart.html http://www.skyscript.co.uk/temples/h1.html http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/House_(astrology) http://www.astro.com/astrology/in_house2_e.htm http://www.skyviewzone.com/astrology/houses.htm

Remember planets are modified by signs (aries, taurus, gemini, cancer etc etc) where they express are houses and how they express are *aspects*

Houses: angular houses 1/7 4/10 the energies of planets placed here are obvious cos itºs your ºshop windowº visible for everyone to see. Next the succeedent houses 2/8 & 5/11 the energies in these houses are not in shop window the are in the shop, but stood behind the counter, ready to come out when needed. Lastly, cadent houses 6/12 & 3/9 these houses/planets are not in shop window or stood behind the counter, they are in the back storeroom and only come out when ºtriggeredº or an emergency and much harder to recognise and access...

The houses are like the backdrop of a stage, the setting if you like, the planets are like actors and the aspects are how the planets behave in that settings/stage....

a new member on here recently asked me this, so I thought Iºd update this sticky....

And also about the transits. Thank you! I know now how to use it. I even included it on my planner. Haha. Thank you so much! And oh btw, about the transits. How could you manually know if the planets are square/trine/sextile? I have read that square is 90deg, trine is 120deg etc. But how could I know the angle difference between the transisting planets? They donºt even reach 90degrees. Sorry for this stupid question

this shows how to use an ephemeris, where is states what degree every planet is at any given time. If you get a bi wheel from astro.com it gets very easy to SEE conjunctions, as they are in the same degree, so--- if you count 3x whole signs = 90º square, if you count 2x whole signs = sextile, 4 x whole signs along = 120º trine. then the orbs...

So remember there are only 30º in a sign and in a house (Equal house) when a planet gets to 30º it changes back to 0º of the next sign. So for example, starting 0º Aries it goes upto 30º Aries then changes to next sign along Taurus 0º

I use + or- 8º for conjunctions, square 90º and oppositions 180º
sun and moon have 10º being luminaries
sextiles 60º and trines 120º get + or - 6º
quincunxs 150º are + or - 3º

Absolutely. And if the sign of the 5th or 8th house changes while using placidus (rather then equal), the ’new’ sign and ruler of these houses can be very revealing in terms of a person’s taste. And aspects to the ’new’ rulers are powerful in terms of effect they have in synastry.

I am going to go with Placidus. This is the House System I have been using for Synastry charts, and after hearing many of your responses I will stay with it.

Thank you everyone.

Beautiful reply, thank you.

Natally I have a 6th house stellium too but I can't relate to it at all.

Maybe that's because I moved away from where I was born and now in the relocated chart, I have no 6th house placements.

Or maybe that's because most of my planets are afflicted by Saturn, and are intercepted.

Either way, I hope to find my true vocation one day.

If you post your chart with progressions and transits in PR forum I would love to see what's going on. Having Saturn in a stellium will modify how those planets express. Also what house system you use as some could well be in 5th showing creativity, art, music, self employment, children interests..
