Hi all,I'm having trouble wrapping my mind around some concepts, and maybe need some confirmation that I am going about this correctly. If someone has Gem AS, for example, then we'd say that Mercury rules their chart. Then we'd go to see what house that planet is in. Let's say Mercury is in the first house, so clearly communication style is a key to this person's personal expression and appearance. Do we then take the analysis further and look at what's going on in the "Mercury houses" - 3rd and 6th? If there are more Gem and Virgo planets in the chart, we would try to connect them too, right? Also, if someone has Gem AS, and 2nd house cusp is 11 degrees cancer, isn't there some moon influence in the first house, given that some cancer is "in there"? Are there cases with two house rulers? What if all degrees of a sign fall totally into a house? Such as a late Aqua AS, then 2nd house cusp is in Aries, so all of Pisces falls into the 1st? Maybe I am way off base in my thinking - but that's why I'm posting LOL. Thanks in advance, everyone! IP: Logged |

Let me start here as I am geeing confused in the question This is the HARDEST thing with House Rulers. We only only only use Houses. The identity of a planet is left for something else. So, put aside the identity of your 1st house ruler. It is Mercury but it could be the Moon or Pluto. We don't care. We just care that it is Ruler of the First House.I am teaching a class on it in the last forum--The Brown Owl Forum. I only have a few students so you are welcome to come!------------------ Passion, Lust, Desire. Check out my journal http://www.mychristianpsychic.com/

Researching rulers of houses will help you understand more where I joining the dots so to speak http://www.cafeastrology.com/natal/rulersofhousesinhouses.html http://www.skyviewzone.com/astrology/houserulerships.htm Only in placidus can you have intercepted houses and signs. I'm a modern astrologer that uses Equal house system rather than simply the default on astro.com quote:

basically nope. It's simply the house cusp ruler that you look to make the connection.chart ruler in your example is mercury and posited in 1st house will 'take on' the flavour of Aries as aries naturally rules this house. Remember planets are modified by signs, where they express are houses and how they express are *aspects* Basic astrology Now basically your sun sign is your 'core beliefs, values, ego' and Asc is your physical body, mode of expression and mask and persona that we all wear and hide behind, but definitely not what's going on underneath. What's going on underneath is your Sun sign. Moon sign, house placements and aspects describe your emotional and intuitive responses, also describes your view of your mother, as saturn describes your father by sign and house position. So, think of a glass milk bottle the bottle is your Asc and your sun the milk, but the milk still has to 'come out' through the glass neck of the milk bottle.... Now aspects within a natal chart represent 'facets' of our personality, because we are all multifaceted beings. What these do is 'break down and compartmentalise' these facets into smaller bite size chunks. This does take quite a lot of self analysis and objectivity to 'see yourself' and why you do certain things and behave in certain ways. Actually it can be quite good therapy... Remember back to your school days an opposition is 180', square 90', trine 120', and sextile 60' Now challenged aspects are conj (depending on the planets, cos some like each other and some really don't) squares and oppositions. Easy aspects are conj (if the planets get along) eg: Jupiter conj Moon, sextile and trine. Quincunx is inbetween (depending on the planets) causes health strains and unresolved or hard to balance planets/energies. ------------------ I love the parable, “If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day, BUT if you teach him how to fish, you feed him for life.” IP: Logged |

In Astrology 2.0 forum, beginners learning astrology http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum24/HTML/212463.html in Astrology 2.0 forum, What’s next for learning (intermediate) http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum24/HTML/212464.html In Astrology 2.0 what’s next for learning (advanced) http://www.linda-goodman.com/ubb/Forum24/HTML/212465.html generall, where the 'chart ruler' is posited should be an important house for expression. But this could be trumped by a stellium in another house.. ------------------ I love the parable, “If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day, BUT if you teach him how to fish, you feed him for life.” IP: Logged |

These are intercepted houses and a different matter entirely. You can find more info by googling it. Have fun! IP: Logged | |
