aquaguy91 Moderator Posts: 4474 From: tennessee Registered: Jan 2012	posted March 21, 2012 10:37 PM when the person is the epitome of their sun sign and they completely discredit it. most of friends are fixed signs,my scorpio friend has intense eyes and talks about how he lures the girls in by being mysterious,my leo friends all host parties regularly and literally pout if they arent the center of attention,and my taurus friend is not ashamed to tell you he is lazy and would rather chill at home than to be out and about,and im the aqua,all my friends remark how im the smart/crazy one and love the weird things i say and do,but yet none are open to it. does anyone else have experiences like this? isnt it maddening? haha IP: Logged

That's their prerogative. Astrology is not a science and it is not something you can literally prove. It requires a certain level of faith and not everyone possesses that. When the topic of astrology comes up among ppl who I know don't really follow it, I get so uncomfortable, to the point where I want to excuse myself and leave. They just don't know what they're talking about! And I don't want to go there. I just don't say anything until the subject is changed. I'm not having the argument with anyone, just not gonna go there. IP: Logged

But I do find it perplexing that people can get so worked up over it...as though they need everyone else to stand behind them in their illusion of reality, lest it dissolve. :P IP: Logged

The only time I would be bothered by someone not believing in astrology is if they gave me a hard time for having faith in it. actually there may be proof afterall,i was listening to the radio and there was an astronomer saying that some astronomers are now of the opinion that hurricanes and tornadoes seem to appear during certain planetary alignments and aspects,so if the planets are affecting our enviroment,than it can be assumed they are affecting us. and also police and hospital workers will tell you that things get crazy on a full moon,my mom and brother both work in the medical field and tell me how crazy the people act on a full moon,they used to be skeptical about astrology but arent anymore. And in the Western world we are ingrained and indoctrinated in the scientific method since we started school (I'm not saying I think this is a bad thing, simply a reason astrology gets discredited so often). Many people in the U.S. are also highly religious and don't believe in astrology for that reason as well. Because it pulls at the heartstrings of so many deep-seated beliefs it is hard to get anywhere with your average person...and often the average person thinks they know everything about astrology because of Horoscopes and Sun signs. I don't like to sound like a know-it-all or like I'm indoctrinating people to my beliefs, so I often just keep it to myself. I have Mercury in Scorpio which keeps a lot of my interests rather personal, anyway. I have shared my interest in astrology with a few close friends and family members and they are generally receptive. I don't see why I have to make it go further than that. I know it sounds selfish but I am learning about astrology to further my own knowledge and to understand how others work, not to pull people into my "cause" (which it isn't even for me). So I really have no need to be frustrated with people who don't care. They can do whatever they want or believe whatever they want, as long as they respect my boundaries and beliefs we're cool. I had a libra guy friend who would charm the pants off of everyone and let his Aries girlfriend walk all over him. Not to mention he would manipulate and use anyone he pleased. And he would always give me a hard time about my belief in astrology. And yeah that's exactly how all those signs are, especially scorpio! Great description! IP: Logged

As I said, I put a lot of stock into astrology, but it can not stand to the rigors of science and logic when it comes to what is an is not proof of existance and causation. It's more related to psychology then anything, and even then it does not hold up well to the standards that are used to test that. yea i get what you are saying,what i mean is that corralation between the storms and the aspects of the planets shows that we could possibly prove it if there was more legitimate research,scientists claim to have disproven astrology but in reality in most instances they have only proven their ignorance of the subject, they give out personality tests to people based on their sun sign and see how many peoples match up with their sun signs,but as anyone who knows astrology knows that we are not the sum total of our sun sign, to truly make accurate tests scientists would have to take into account the whole birth chart of the individual,which to my knowledge hasnt been done as of yet, will astrology ever be proven? i dont know,but i think there are definite possibilities .
