i have this in my chart,i have tried very hard to figure out the meaning of this to no avail, it is so contradictory, capricorn north node is all about taking responsibility and control of ones life, and being successful or possibly be in a leadership role, but its in the twelfth and the twelfth is all about relinquishing control and trusting that everything will be alright or submitting to a higher power. does anybody have any idea how i should approach reaching my north node mission? it just confuses the heck out of me haha also its conjunct saturn only further complicating things

Did you ask this before because I remember responding to this and he said he struggled badly w.depression? I think he might have had Saturn in the 12th too. And we talked about how it's a meditative quiet placement and the emphasis should be on structure and also remembering to have compassion for himself, esp w.the saturn there.
I don't think I'm making this up cos it was on this board but it might have been another person w.the same set-up.

What degree of Cap is your NN?

I'm a Cap 16 sun...if your NN is close to that, just talk to me, I'll show you the ropes, that'll help some.

If not, I'll look it up for you in my book on the nodes, if you like. Just tell me the degree and for extra info, your birthday.

North Node in the Twelfth House

You begin to admit to yourself that you don't really have control, not on the most basic level. Does that mean you're doomed, that there is now only entropic disintegration? Or is there something else, is there a will or intelligence that transcends your conscious mind? If you're psychologically oriented, you might call it the unconscious. The religious call it God or Spirit. Whatever this controlling force is, it's not concrete and tangible. Turning control over to it is an act of faith - "Thy Will Be Done". In 60s-speak, you're learning to go with the flow. You're allowing the formerly rigid structures of your mind to dissolve, replaced by deep, intuitive wisdom and gentle compassion. http://www.astromusings.com/archetypes/nodes/houses-twelfth.html

That is a very good link I think I get my south node more. I have a lot of shoulds and it is related to the 2nd house. Like I should have material things because it is the proper way to live and I'm very stubborn about it.

South Node in Sagittarius
You have a strong need to understand, to make sense out of life. You are uncomfortable when you don't know the answer. You seek a belief system, an ideology - and when you find it, you tend to adhere to it fanatically. It gives you a clear picture of not just what is, but how things should be, how people should be. Your morals thus follow from your beliefs; you base your decisions on an absolute sense of right and wrong. You thus tend to be overly judgmental, intolerant of those with differing beliefs or values. On the other hand, you feel a strong sense of community with those that share your beliefs, and a desire to expand that group. You take a leadership role as a manager, director, teacher.

North Node in Gemini
You are losing your mind and coming to your senses. You are discovering that your concepts prevent you from seeing what's right in front of your face. Within an ever-changing flow of experience you discover a complex and fascinating Universe that defeats all attempts at categorization. You discover that distraction is the spice of life, inconsistency liberation. Reality emerges in the gray areas, sparkling and multi-colored. Everyone now has something to teach you, and you never run out of questions!

South Node in the Second House
You do have a lot of stuff, don't you? You're very good at knowing what you want, and going after it. If you like it, you want to own it. Not real big on sharing, though. People sometimes call you selfish, or greedy, but you figure you've earned what you have and they're just jealous or lazy. You enjoy the pleasures of the flesh, but for some reason have never really connected to anyone. Relationships are just too hard, people want too much. But heck, you can take care of yourself, you don't really need anyone, right?

North Node in the Eighth House
Actually, you do. At night, alone in the dark, you feel a nagging sense that something is missing. You wish you had someone you could depend on, someone to share your deepest feelings with. You struggle with this uncomfortable feeling, but it drives you to reach out. You find someone, you connect, and the feeling is incredible! Such depths, such passion! And it is hard, but it's worth it. Your partner's needs are so different from your own, and yet you have to embrace them and value them. Above all, you have to meet them, no matter what it takes. You have to give up so much, in fact everything, but you get back even more.

Interesting. I have the opposite; SN in 12th/NN 6th and I definitely had to learn to give my life, my SELF and that of others more structure by becoming much more earthy.
I learned to see that I COULD have a form of control when regulating my thoughts and actions. I even became a non-believer to reach that level. My past is that of an unhealthy belief/dependence in/on a higher power in which I sort of denied I HAD a physical body.. with all the implications that this entails.

I have this same position Cappy NN in the 12th (also conjunct Capricorn Asc).

11 Degree capricorn

... still trying to figure it out, I've speculated from experiences in my own life, that it means realizing the universe/life has an innate order or structure to it, and perhaps to have faith/trust in that order even if we can't understand it fully quite yet. but It is very perplexing placement yes. I also have Uranus and neptune conjunct my NN so idk how much it alters things.

The Secret Language of Destiny by Gary Goldschneider is all about the nodes and I highly recommend it.

Aquaguy, I hope you don't mind, but I just looked you up in the book, as I had a general idea of when you were born from previous posts. This is my favorite sub-topic in astrology and I am interested in seeing people's opinions. Disregard this of course, if you like.

You have the same nodal axis as Einstein (and Elvis, by the way) and have the ability to transfer excitement to people like an electric vibe. You can see what's next on the horizon- astrology might be IT, I don't know. And you have "a virtuoso capacity to work a room." But this nodal axis is prone to depression and manic swings. What you will find healing is structure in your life that allows you to cultivate your feminine, intuitive side AND ALSO pay homage to your dark side which is never going away. It's actually your source of strength.

Saturn conj NN would actually help you build the personal structure you need. I have Saturn in the 12th and have the optimistic view of it there: it's protective.

quote:
Saturn in the Twelfth House: suppresses depression. Of course everyone gets depressed now and then. But when someone with this placement gets depressed, the trap door to the subconscious swings open and all the old depression comes out. This can be temporarily immobilizing, the "I just can’t get out of bed today" syndrome. Folks with Saturn in the twelfth house are usually very reliable. Everybody else depends on them and leans on them as well. They have to find someone to lean on as well.
http://www.bobmarksastrologer.com/twelthhouse.htm

You can disassemble methodically, showing others how to do it, since you ARE an example. And of course what you re-make of yourself is ever more spiritually refined.

Book has more info....this is a paraphrase, with my own knowledge/guesses mixed in. Best wishes.
