Traditionally, the 7th House is the House of Wife/Partner/Business Partner.

How can we use derivative houses to know some characteristics of our partnerships?

Here are some helpful tips, courtesy wiki:

The seventh house is the native's partner's first house and personality..

The eighth house is the native's partner's second house and relates to partner's money.

The ninth house is the native's partner's third house and relates to partner's neighbours, school mates, siblings and peers.

The tenth house is the native's partner's fourth house and relates to partner's heredity, home life and nurturing. i.e. mother in law.

The eleventh house is the native's partner's fifth house and relates to that which is partner loves, their children, i.e your stepchildren, pleasures and leisure activities.

The twelfth house is the native's partner's sixth house and relates to his partner's work environment, dietary issues, clothing, housing.

The first house is the native's partner's mate and is therefore how the partner sees you.

The second house is the native's partner's eighth house and relates to that which the native shares with partner, including sex, assets.

The third house is the native's partner's ninth house and relates to the partner's long distance travels, ethics, philosophies, faith.

The fourth house is the native's partner's tenth house and relates to the partner's career, public status and father figure, boss, landlord.

The fifth house is the native's partner's eleventh house and relates to the partner's group associates, such as clubs and societies.

The sixth house relates to the native's partner's twelfth house and relates to the partner's troubles, karmic issues, neuroses and self undoing also secret enemies.

=============================================

How do we apply the above information?
--------------------------------------

Start with Transits. For instance, did Saturn Transits to your 6th result in worries to your partner?

Did a Jupiter transit to your 8th bring
wealth to your partner?

Did a Mars transit to your 4th bring about a career change or increased ambition in your father in law?

Further Derivatives:
--------------------
Since 4th House deals largely with home, did a Jupiter Transit to 4th from 7th i.e. your 11th House help establish/build a home with your wife/partner ?

It did in my case. Derivatives can thus be a very useful predictive analysis tool.

Thank you IQ. Very interesting. It'll take me some time to completely get the hang of it, but on a first reading it seems to make sense.

Thanks for sharing this!

I'm not so sure how to conduct my analysis.

For example, my 7th House is in Virgo and my wife's 1st House is in Cancer. I presume you mean that Cancer reflects her outward personality. How do I move the analyis forward?

Many thanks.

Oh yes. Thank you for the insights. Heavy Virgo. Five planets in Virgo: Jupiter, Venus, Mercury, Pluto and Uranus and Part of Fortune all in Virgo in 3rd House.

Her Sun is in Leo in 2nd House, but close to the cusp of 3rd House in Virgo.

Plus, since we are from the same generation, Pluto and Uranus Conjunct. My Pluto and Uranus are also in Virgo, but in the 7th House.

Therefore, my wife is really more of a Virgo?

Its starting to make a lot of sense because me as Capricorn is not supposed to be compatible with a Leo. I am of course highly compatible with a Virgo and Taurus.

My mom was a Virgo too. There we go. I had a momentous epiphany!

Thank you so much!!!

Hmmmm... I have Aries in 7th house. Hmmmmm... I've never dated an Aries whether Sun, Moon, Venus, Mars or Rising.

What i notice is that everyone of them have Sun-Mercury conjunction.

WOAH

My DC is 16 Virgo, with Mars,Saturn in Libra included in Seventh house.

My soon to be ex-hubby has Moon and Mars in Virgo. Cant say I will ever miss him

BUT - I have heard that multiple planets in the seventh can signify multiple legal partners, in my case Saturn being the next in line ..... hmm..... lets wait and watch ???

For some unknown reason, this theory is too generalized to fit for me but personal readings fr IQ specific to my chart fits perfectly. Maybe it is the same for you too since u mentioned before that the current guy is yr twin flame.

Hi LP,
Derivative House Techniques for Partners will work after you begin a relationship.

Every husband can expect some luck because of his wife after marriage if Transit Venus is on his 11th, because 11th is 5th from 7th.

Every wife can expect improvements to the Home when her 4th House Ruler transits hubby's 10th. This is because 10th house is 4th from hubby's 7th.

This is the right way to assess planetary energy from Derivative Houses.

It will work for the first born too. 5th represents first born. Tr Venus in your 6th will help in getting extra cash for the first born. Tr Mercury in your 9th will give new business ideas which help your firstborn's future.

Likewise, 9th House in Firstborn's chart represents Father. Extra luck will come to you if Jupiter transits your firstborn's 1st House because first is 5th from 9th.

This could also be the secret of phenomenal luck to a Man, when they occur together:

1. Jupiter or 5th Ruler or Asteroid FORTUNA transit first house of firstborn child

2. Jupiter or 5th House Ruler of Husband's chart or Asteroid FORTUNA transiting 11th House of Wife's chart.

3. Asteroid FORTUNA, Venus, Jupiter or 5th ruler transiting 5th of Husband.

Such combinations IMHO work in the charts of those who suddenly win a lotto.

I have read in places that for 2nd marriages, they need to look at 9H. What is your take on this? Transits through 9H?
Characteristics of 2nd spouse related to 3H (7th house from 9H)?

Hi Yuting,
I am unaware of this specific association for the 9th House. What I have read is about Jupiter in 7th indicating higher chances of multiple marriages.

@Linda and LP:
I will try to elaborate even further with examples from my life.

I have read from a couple of sites as well as recently in a thread in this forum.

In any case, I have Jup in my 7H, but I havent even married once. So maybe I need to catch up?

I forgot to mention though that throughout my work life so far, I have been working mostly in partnership firms (though not a partner myself) and the time at partnership firms is much better than that I had spent at corporations. Of course, as a result, I have worked with many partners (ie bosses)

Maybe my 7H Jupiter is realized through my career rather than family life.
