The more well-known astrology software does report planetary aspects in a natal chart but their graphic representation is confined to a relatively small area in the center, making it hard to get a good visual impression of the aspects among the planets. This lack is remedied by the software 'Planetary Aspects and Transits', which gives a good graphical representation of aspects in a natal chart and a synastry, and also is good for exploring planetary transits, both world and personal. You can also search for aspect patterns, such as grand trines. A free trial version can be downloaded from http://www.planetary-aspects.com/pat/pat.htm IP: Logged |

This software calculates and displays both world (a.k.a. mundane) and personal aspects and transits. E.g. the chart for April 29, 2012, is shown below. This shows a grand trine (Sun-Mars-Pluto). Green lines are trines, red lines are squares. The PAT program tells us that at this point in time (9 a.m. GMT) the three trines are all less than 3 degrees from exact. But it seems most people on this list are more interested in (their) natal charts. So I'll post similar images for natal charts for the first three people to request them. Only date of birth needed, though time of birth is needed for accurate Moon position. Character analysis based on a natal chart does not need to consider houses (though, of course, it usually does), because much information is provided by the aspects between the planets at birth, as shown in such diagrams as this.

Correction: The PAT program tells us that at 9 a.m. GMT the *average* angular distance from exact (120 degrees) is less than 3 degrees. In fact the Sun-Mars and Mars-Pluto trines are about 4 degrees from exact, whereas the Sun-Pluto trine is almost exactly exact (2 minutes), thus the average of 3 degrees.IP: Logged |
