One day, not too long ago, Mercury awoke and checked his inbox. On a normal day there were letters from all the various planets asking him to relay messages to the outside world in a way that they couldn't.

The Sun and Mars had their body movements and first impressions, the Moon had her eyes, each of the planets had the ability to express themselves without the assistance of Mercury if they really needed to. An ability they used liberally as people began to develop, while Mercury was simply the messenger when other means were not getting through.

But this day, Mercury woke up and discovered a plethora of emails from the other planets, asking Mercury to express all sorts of information. Information that they would normally be able to relate on their own.

What had changed?

The internet was born.
All information when communicating with other people on the internet through typeface has to be filtered and delivered through Mercury. He's the only one who can do it.

Now, Mercury, a relatively small planet with small ambitions (compared to the Sun, Mars and Pluto) is growing in importance. The internet is turning the spotlight to him.

Do you think when getting to know someone on the internet it should be more important to know their Mercury rather than their Sun Sign?

my biggest difficulty is knowing whether I should consider a "first meeting" with someone by internet as the actual first meeting...

Traditionally, we should not but sometimes we can meet on skype before actually meeting and this seems like a valid first meeting... for this reason, I usually don't talk with people on skype before actually meeting them...
