I think I have the least understanding of this house, I get the 8th and 12th bettter than this one. Can planets here take on a type of "hidden" effect? My current man he has a gem sun and mercury (not conj) in the 4th, his sun is conjunct the ic 1*. This man doesnt seem like a gemini, he barely even speaks! I know the rest of his chart has a strong influence on this, but its wierd and I was thinking it might be those two gem planets falling in his 4th. Any input on 4th h planets?

Do you get this effect with everyone or just with this guy?

Because if it's just with this guy (and don't quote me because I'm a noob), I'd assume that you're viewing his 4th house as hidden because you're viewing him through his 5th house.

Meaning, whatever he is to you directly relates to his 5th house. Or, how he perceives you directly relates to his 5th house.

I could be seriously wrong, it's just a thought.

Yes. It's the deepest part of ourselves, our hidden nature, or roots and that's where it get the association with the home.

just found this nice article: full here: http://astroartisan.com/astroartisan-resource-centre/astrology-houses/the-ic-and-4t h-house/

The 4th house - Our private domain

Family, values and heritage all come under the umbrella of this house and show how and where we retreat from outside pressure and reflect. The 4th house leading on from the IC continues the values set up for us from our parental figures and whilst the Asc shows our outer persona the 4th reflects our inner motivations. It is linked with the sign of Cancer and there is an element of security associated with the 4th house. Our foundations stem from this point and this house can tell us a lot about whether we operate from a stable base or shaky foundation and how this impacts the rest of our chart. Generally, an emphasis on this area of the chart can show how we place an importance on our homes, security and privacy as well as what influences us. We can also view our core beliefs here and what we have faith in, whether that be in ourselves, a religion or a spiritual way of life.

The base of the chart is the underlying fundamental structure in place that allow us to operate- though these factors may not be visible to ‘outsiders’ and sometimes even hidden from ourselves. Transits to the IC and 4th house can have an impact on the MC/10th house. If our roots are shaken the leaves at the top of the tree will stir, similarly if our roots are not fed and watered, the top of the tree will not flourish. If we don’t sustain our inner core we may find it difficult to function in the outer world.

The 4th house- An experience If we think of the Asc as an initial gasp and the 1st house as an entry point, the IC is the potent point before we progress into the 4th house. Once we have entered into the 4th house it can be a sanctuary shielding us from the world or equally a dark and lonely prison depending on our experiences. This may be why the IC/MC axis is linked with our parental figures who lead the way in showing us a reality of the world from their perspective (IC) which we then carry out into the world.(MC)

The 4th house is also associated with the end or second part of life. As we take a more sedate and inward approach in our latter years, we become less concerned with our outer persona’s and image. We could say that the 4th house is where we retire whether that be from our careers, at the end of the day after work or in our minds. It’s can be a resting point and peaceful place or one filled with angst. How well we are rooted impacts all areas of our lives.

If the IC/4th house receives challenging aspects, we can perhaps expect some difficulties regarding our feelings of security and ability to feel grounded. Challenging aspects on the angles are a beacon and an opportunity and it is likely we will feel them acutely while we figure out ways to work around, through or over the hurdle. If we think about the 4th/10th axis acting like the spine of the chart, we know a weak spine can impair other parts of our bodies. This is perhaps why we are encouraged to know ourselves and what makes us tick in order for us to address any underlying problems so we can keep our ‘spine’ healthy.

The 4th house is the hidden and private area of our charts and holds our beliefs about the world, as well as the deep-seated fears no one knows about. Our view of the world is shaped from the 4th house experience and how we present ourselves to the world reflects our own internal perspectives which has been shaped and defined by our parental figures.

Thanks for the links guys, yes this is a neglected house that needs more information on, I am still a bit confused as weather its hidden or its just so deep and private that sometimes people with planets here dont express them "openly"?
