Sometimes I feel like third-decan and first-decan Aquarians are almost like a different sign:-O. Has anyone else experienced this, huge variations in their perception or compatibility of a sign based on the decan?IP: Logged |

Yes. I'm a Cancer Sun decan of Scorpio. I've always felt more Scorpio than Cancer more if I have also Scorpio Rising. So yes.IP: Logged |

I've always found 2nd decan Cancers to be TOTALLY different from the other 2 decans of Cancer. In fact, I almost always guess them as Scorpios or fire signs -- never Cancers! IP: Logged |

I'm a 3rd decan Sagittarius and can always tell when I encounter another. They are so different from the first 2 decans -- more grace, tact, leadership qualities. Most Sags gawk at the idea of being in charge (too much responsibility). We, however, need to be in charge to prosper... it's all the Leo shadings.IP: Logged |

these are mine if i interchanged the decans with my actual placements. some stay the same of course if they are in the first decan. hmmm...Asc Scorpio
Sun in Virgo
Moon in Leo
Venus in Taurus
Mercury in Sag

Agreed, I've noticed that. Aquacheeka: Yes the decans seem almost like different signs to me, too.

Thanks for the testimony! It's always appreciated to hear feedback that coincides with one's own, isn't it? If you don't mind my asking, what is the extent of your experience with 3rd decan Sags? I've only met a handful, but there's always an unmistakable, almost dynamic, "vibe" there when I do. All but one have been female; the 1 male was a tad more docile than is customary of the sign but he had a potent Venus to thank. On the whole, I find them to be more Leonine than Sag. I myself am more often pegged as a Leo on first impression than any other sign. I've also found them to have more of a showman's streak than the other Sag decans: Christina Aguilera, Frank Sinatra, Edith Piaf, and most recently Taylor Swift, are all 3rd decan. IP: Logged |

^ Right, exactly.I'm not close to any right now, but I've known them over the course of my life. And I have a second-decan Sag son, a few other second-decan Sag friends, and have known a lot of first-decan Sags. So I just observe the differences. The first decan is more reserved and serious...even Jon Stewart is actually covering very serious topics...the second is a little goofy (Aries!...I'm thinking of Walt Disney now) and the third is as you said. I'll try your method Sand...Ascendant Libra (actual placement: Aquarius Rising)
Sun in Libra (actual placement: Sun in Libra)
Moon in Leo (actual placement: Moon in Aries)
Mercury in Gemini (actual placement: Mercury in Libra)
Venus in Aries (actual placement: Venus in Leo)
Mars in Aries (actual placement: Mars in Aries) Very interesting. Either way my normal placements and these above placements still somewhat match my personality. I have the same energies just in different placements. However I feel most connected to my actually placements. It's because I have a lot of oppositions in my chart and they balance me out. I have oppositions to each and everyone one of my personal planets and I love them. I actually really like my own natal chart. It's an accurate reflection of who I am. Decans are important though and they explain a lot. I've got Aquarius Rising however it's under the Libra Decan and I'm a Libra Sun and Mercury. I'm pretty out there but in the most balanced way I guess. I'm under the Libra decan for my sun in Libra which just magnifies all that Venusian energy. Again, personally I really like my natal chart. I have a twin sister who's an Aquarius Rising under the Gemini Decan, she's a lot more brainy then I am, book smarts all the way. She's the witty one, I'm the bitingly sarcastic and the experiential one. Hehehe... IP: Logged |

Actually to be totally up front, I should admit that I'm pro-cusp, and that changes the beginning of the first decan and tail end of the last, IMO.So that's why Miley Cyrus acts more like a Scorpio-Sag than first decan Sag, to me. Still, she is tackling social issues and taking a stand on things, in more of a first decan Sag way. What looks to other people like pure rebellion might be the beginning of a social crusader...like Jon Stewart. IP: Logged |

I tend to prefer 2nd decan Aquarians- they strike me as the most vivacious and versatile of the bunch, due in no small part to their Gemini influence. The 1st decan strikes me as rather bland, while the 3rd is a little too passive for my tastes. Which does your Sun fall under? IP: Logged |

Yessss.I'm a 2nd Decan Aries, and I notice first decan Aries are very much the textbook Arians - lighthearted, babies, simple... couldn't hurt a fly if their life depended on it. Me however...ugh, I just do NOT feel like an Aries unless someone offends those that I love. THEN you will see the no-******** tell-you-about-yourself side of me come out. What theory do you use for the decans?Aquarius 0° - 10° -> Aquarius decan
10° - 20° -> Gemini decan
20° - 29° -> Libra decan This one?
I think some astrologers use planets instead of signs with decans, like instead of saying 'in the Pisces decan' they say your Sun sign is co-ruled by Neptune.

Myself and almost all my Aquarian friends are third decans; my good Aqua friend who is a politician-in-training and a genius is decan 2. I recently made friends with a decan 1 Aqua and it struck me that she's the first decan 1 Aqua I've ever met who doesn't smoke. Most of the ones I've met are very into partying and drinking and seem very confident and almost seem to inhabit a different world than I do. I guess I'm one of the boring and passive third-decan Aquas lol.

i thot those were the same? i use the signs just coz they're more specific. like merc, venus has 2 other planets under them..

I've noticed that all the 2nd decan Aquas I know (like myself) are really argumentative. We also can sit and debate with each other for hours while the rest of the party is either sitting around bored or are uncomfortable because they think we're fighting (pro tip: a discussion is different from angry arguments).I don't really get along with first decan Aquas, they're too abrasive for me. I think I only know one 3rd decan Aqua and he's my boyfriend. Honestly, the Venus description really did NOT resonate with me lol but then I realized his Venus is in Cap. That makes sense. He's very ambitious and has an "a" type personality. He's not afraid of rocking the boat either. IP: Logged |

I'm really looking forward to getting to know this decan 1 Aqua girl a little bit better, I'm hoping she can bust the stereotype I have in my head of decan 1 Aquas being wild & crazy party girls. She seems really grounded and down-to-earth. She's been in a relationship for four years.
Maybe the difference is that she's January 27th or 28th, so closer to decan 2, while the other decan 1 Aquas I've known are January 20th or 21st, so very early Aqua.
