I'm not exactly sure how to phrase this, but you know how when you meet people, sometimes there's an awkward, getting-to-know-you phase where you're not fully yourself around them? And yet sometimes you meet someone and instantly you're at ease, you can joke around and make fun of each other (the hallmark of true friendship, I've always said), you don't feel self concious around them, and you just have great, non-forced, easy flowing conversation. What are aspects that would generate this kind of instantaneous chemistry? I'm referring to both romantic and platonic relationships. I've heard something about Venus and Jupiter aspects, but wouldn't Mercury also have something to do with it? IP: Logged |

Yes, I think you're right. I feel naturally comfortable around people who have a strong Jupiter-Venus contact with me, or at least, they will feel that way about me. Someone in my family has their Jupiter conjunct my Venus and they only open up to me when I ask them what is really bothering them, how they really feel, etc. etc. They can be themselves around me... also Jupiter-Venus seems to encourage a mutual happiness between two people and that's what we feel! Hard Mercury aspects would certainly denote difficulties between two people, or maybe a hard Mercury-Mars contact... definitely that too. I have Mercury square Mars in my natal chart, and with someone I know I have it in our synastry as well... so you can imagine the heated explosive arguments that come up, or always feeling the need to fight with them on my part. So I think harmonious Mercury to Mercury aspects would make both people feel comfortable expressing ideas, and Venus-Mercury will too. ------------------ "Perfect love casts out fear." -Anthony de Mello IP: Logged |

Yeah. I agree! I'd also say moon, mercury and venus trine uranus. But mostly it is pluto aspects, in my opinion. You can have a lot of nice aspects but if you dont have a pluto aspect and a strong composite, then i doubt you'd have that instant chemistry right away. pluto=intimacy from the start. That's what makes the relationship/friendship intense

If anything trines or conjuncts my mercury, things usually go very very well. If someones mercury is in aquarius, libra, or gemini then things often are awesome .A few of my friends also have aqua moons that trine my mercury or venus. Those sorts of placements make me feel most at ease. ------------------ It's All Elemental ----- My Chart if relevant IP: Logged |

I have ASC trine Uranus, so when there's an early placement in Aries I feel at ease (grand trine). It's either been their Sun, Moon, or Mercury. And then, that early Aries placement is sextile my Mercury, for extra sense of 'like minds' & being able to easily chit chat. We get loud/animated together but fire signs don't care.IP: Logged |

Scorpio Mercury trine my Pisces Mercury never fails to put me at ease. That's the only one I am *sure* of. So regardless of anything else going on in our charts..... this aspect puts me at ease right away. Venus/Jupiter was mentioned. I have a close DW of Venus/Jupiter with a close friend... but things started out rocky between us. It took us some time to be on good terms. I don't see the Venus/Jupiter as immediate. IP: Logged |

This has only happened to me one time in my life. The gentleman lives in the UK and I'll never forget the instant ease. I just looked up his chart from Facebook since I only knew his sun sign. He has:
Sun in Aquarius, moon in Pisces, Mercury in Aquarius, Venus in Capricorn, Mars in Libra, Jupiter in Scorpio. Like me, his chart is mostly air, almost no earth. Almost an astro twin. Weird.
What's weirder is that we both have earth voids and work boring, overly practical jobs. Overcompensation maybe? IP: Logged |

Just looked up my synastry with one of my best friends who I immediately felt close to, and we had these aspects:(my planets on the left) Sun conjunct moon sun trine mercury sun conjunct jupiter Mercury trine sun mercury opposition uranus moon sextile venus moon sextile mars saturn conjunct venus uranus sextile sun interesting! we also have a few more uranus aspects. no wonder every time we hang out something BIZARRE and completely out of left field comes our way. one more question: in a venus/jupiter aspect, who would be the one to feel the easy going-ness more, the venus or the jupiter person? From my experience, mercury conjuct mercury would have you both talking for hours! You can talk just about anything under the sun. You both have similar tastes and way of thinking. Sun trine sun is also an aspect that promotes an innate understanding of each other.IP: Logged |

My Mercury is Libra, and I get along (generally) with other Mercury Libras. I tend to really have fun talking to people too who have air and fire Mercury signs. Water and earth Mercuries are difficult for me because they don't communicate. I NEED communication (even though I have no planets in my 7th, unless you count Chiron, it's ruled by Gemini: intellectual stimulation and communication are highly important to me in my relations with others: they are not optional. They must exist for me to really enjoy and value the relationship and see it as anything important and worthwhile).I get along well with Libras and Leos, though I get along with female Leos much better than the males, especially if the male has Virgo Mercury. I have a lot of Sags in my life, and I like most of them. The one that seems not to like me has a lot of Scorpio influence. Generally, though, I get along with fire and air suns well. Water signs, things are great for awhile and then fizzle out--they don't last. A lot of ex-friends are Pisces. I don't dislike Pisces or other water signs as people; it just does not work out for some reason. I get along with water sign moons, with rare exceptions. Pisces moon is my favorite (my own is Cancer). Scorpio moons can be a bit intimidating, but, even with them, there's this sense between men and other water moons that we just understand each other.

Perfect go-to guide! I can personally attest to Moon/AC and Venus/Jupiter. IP: Logged |

I think that you're right, it's easier to get along with certain signs concerning Mercury over others, and certain elements too. I think everyone might have a 'favorite' Mercury sign for when they connect with others. I have a love-hate feeling for Scorpio Mercury... it is my Mercury sign but sometimes it can be difficult to deal with it in others since I have H11 Mercury and the Aquarian/Air influences seem to help me expand a bit past the lockdown on communication factor you mentioned with Water sign Mercuries. I think a mix of Air and Water with Mercury - Mercury in Water in an Air house or vice versa - could help with the communicating issue for more sensitive Watery people, in opening up more easily. Hmm, it's funny you mention failed friendships with Pisces quite a bit - I have had the same thing. The only Water sign that's 'fizzled out' like you said for me, has been Pisces. I can manage with some Cancers, and I have this weird connection to Scorpio in all areas of life. I really can rarely let go of Scorpios - seeing as they usually cling to me and I feel trapped by them, or maybe it's even the opposite. I get hooked on Scorpio people, or they get hooked on me, and sometimes it's good but it can be very bad. So I rarely just 'fizzle out' with Scorps. But with Pisces it's just like.... too Neptunian or something. Like, I just don't always get a clear feel of how they think of me and what they want and expect in the relationship, and then I find out how much feeling they've invested in it and it freaks me out. I was friends with a Pisces once who acted normal around me and then totally threw me a curveball by having extreme insecurity issues about our friendship and bawling about it to me, and it was just... too much for me to take. I have an Air singleton Sun, so I can be pretty Air-y... when they did that, I was caught off-guard. I have a hard time with Pisces people in general. They can just be too emotional at the wrong times for me. Sounds bad, but it's true... IP: Logged |

I have an exact conjunct moon / south node with a friend that made me feel that way. Went to lunch with another friend and within minutes of being introduced to this person we started conversing which lasted throughout the lunch, almost to the exclusion of everyone else. Now when out w/ this group we instantly connect and start in talking again. Weird because we don't have great aspects together, including a moon & sun / mercury Quincunx. Another friend and I have exact conjunct mercery / moon on my IC. Our conversations are not really 'flowing' but almost psychic/intuitive. Same sense of weird humor too. When we are around each other there are not a lot of words, but feeling instantly at ease is an understatement. I never understood when people would talk about when someone felt like "home" until this connection. IP: Logged |

Sun aspecting Venus, is one of the most obvious 'at ease' aspects in all the charts I have checked. Sun is one's natural energy - thus when Venus picks up on it, her affections are naturally returned by the Sun, simply by being themselves. 'COMFORT' is the key word here.IP: Logged |
