There are many people who think about suicide, many who threaten to do it, but fewer who actually do...
Are there aspects that show whether someone would go through with it as opposed to just threatening it or thinking of it?

Natal aspects? No. Suicide is complicated. But the natals of all who I've looked at who do commit suicide have self-destructive aspects of one kind or another. Saturn conj/sq/opp to personal planets seems common. Or afflicted personal planets in Capricorn. Moon sq Pluto comes up as well. Then again those are all just basic aspects for depression. Having any of those is not a suicide sentence. Looking at the charts the day they did it, you can see the strain they were under. Neptune comes up in hard aspects to personals too, tho not as often, mostly as sq/opp to Sun/Moon/Mars. Saturn in the 1st or conj asc is another. Sun/Moon conj Pluto. Here's a list.

I had a friend who did. All I know was he had Aries sun and Cancer moon. It was over a broken romance, she wrote him a nasty letter telling him she'd met someone better. His mother was the one who found him.

Suicide is common among people who put too much pressure on themselves. So I'd look for earth in the chart.

Mercury square Uranus combined with extreme sensitivity such as a Pisces Moon. Then, add Venus conj Pluto or something for profound intensity.

I think a chart that shows signs of depression n transits that trigger the feeling of lost hope n no way out... that's how i believe one commit sucide.

wldn't it b great to look at a chart, plot thru the transits to natal n find the strongest n weakest period of a person's life... more ppl can b saved from a moment of folly.

I didn't go through it all the way. Took some pills but stopped before too many. The paternity test result for the baby some girl claimed she had with the dude I was getting engaged to was positive. Relationship ended, happiness ended, plans ended, seemed like life ended. I wanted to do it badly, I always regretted being born. But as I was staring at those pills (just gotten my presciption, the bottle was full), epiphany stroke. It's not anything major, it's just the realization that death is a waste of life. I also saw my Mom's face (we're karmic, me and her) and the tremendous pain I would've caused her, and she would've never understood why I did it...
I don't think I am going to attempt it ever again. Have been on medication since then, in fact they have taken me out of meds, still doing therapy and had my most important breakthrough with it. Living with depression is hard and I'm struggling with it alone (my family and friends don't know about therapy or that event or even my diagnosis), but for the first time I feel like there really is hope and a way out of it. Still not there yet, but doing a lot better.

At my workplace, there have been 1 suicide and 2 attempts since I joined 3,5 years ago... And that's just the ones I know about, there's a lot of secrecy about it. There's this one guy, a male nurse, that I have always been fond of and when I saw him again after hearing about his attempt, I wanted to hug him really tight and tell him he's not alone. I feel like crying whenever I think he might not have been with us - and perhaps that's how some would feel about me. But I didn't hug him because I know how I would feel if someone would do that to me, at my workplace, when people are not even supposed to know. Still, my heart went out to him, as well as all the depression victims and their loved ones. It is a struggle and it takes a lot of courage to hang in there.

If it matters, my chart and transits for the day in question.

Whatever you give to a woman, she will make it GREATER. Give her SPERM, she will give you a BABY. Give her a HOUSE, she will give you a HOME. Give her GROCERIES, she will give you a MEAL. Give her LOVE, and she will give you her HEART! She multiplies and enlarges what she is given. So, if you give her CR@P, be prepared to receive a ton of SH!T!

Thank you Hera
Do you think low air makes it hard for you to detach from your emotions as air allows us to pull back?

I am so glad you are still with us

A guy I know who was born 20 minutes before me (so we basically had the same exact chart except his MC was in Aquarius and his ASC was a few degrees before mine) killed himself a few years ago. At the time we were going through a rough Pluto transit. His chart was super easy (like mine). Lots of trines/sextiles, cradle formation. Pluto at the time was squaring Venus, ruler of the 12th and conjunct Saturn/Uranus, which are the ruler of the 8th and his MC (my MC is ruled by Neptune).

My late husband did it, and I still have not had the courage to look at his chart for aspects, or transits.

I WILL NOT draw up a death chart.

It has been 10 years and I just cant put myself back into that energy.

Hera, I am so, so sorry about that period of darkness you went through. Heartbreak - especially when it comes out of the blue like that - is never easy. My mom is going through it right now in fact, I feel so sorry for her. All I can do is be there. I am so relieved that you made the right choice and that you're still here with us today. Thank you for opening up and sharing that with us as well. No one should have to go through something like that completely alone.

Lilithpluto and hippichick, very sad as well. It's such a common thing that kind of sorrow, unfortunately. I've had periods of real darkness in my life (there was a point where I was living in a battered woman's shelter... long story), but I don't know if I ever felt so lost. I truly can't remember. I think I've sort of deliberately pushed those memories down.

Lilith,
Please don't be sad. It is hard to swallow what happened, I agree with that. Just allow yourself time and space to heal. And know that what happened must have been for your greater good. It is something difficult to accept, agreed, but when the right time will come, you will let go.
For me I'm pretty sure the transits to my Chiron were the culprint (Mercury&Venus opposition and Mars sq Chiron). I am very sensitive to transits by or to Chiron, always been crisis periods for me, moments of my lowest - but you know what they say, sometimes you need to hit rock bottom to get back up. True in my case.

Thank you, Ami!
I consider myself a rational person, despite only having 1 air planet. I know how to detach, I must practice it in my work otherwise I will go insane for sure because I am quite empathic. I learned how to detach from my own emotions and look at them as if they belonged to someone else, with pure objectivity. I think that has been my way out, the fact that I CAN detach, thank God. I am sometimes avoidant of people who are suffering - for instance in here - because it can get too intense for me and I already have a big load of suffering @work. Sometimes I can only take so much.

The transits are only part of it. Sec.progressed & SA add more to the picture.

I am really sorry for everyone here who's lost a loved one or they're stuggling with this. In my case, my loved ones pulled me back up, indirectly because I couldn't do that to them, no matter how hopeless it all felt.

Aquacheeka, I think your approach is the best. Being there and listening if she feels like talking and just letting her know how important she is in your life - I think is less intrusive and supportive and it is what I would apreciate most.

I know some people here have mixed feelings about therapy and antidepressants and all that. I was too, but they work. I am lucky to have found an extraordinary therapist, but have been very reluctant to go through it all nonetheless. They work if you allow them to work. Seek help, please.

Only if you put them in a straightjacket. If someone is determined to kill themselves they'll find a way.

Yes, perhaphs but no harm trying though... I remembered that two times... I feel very sad, down depressed, a non-blood related aunt will call me for no particular reason other than to chit chat... There must b some neptune transit between us... My parents never knew never asked n I never say.. But this lady dotes me like a daughter, she was so clueless too but she makes me smile n her positivity n naviety at the age of 60+ makes it so difficult to be angry with life. She is my angel, the angel my Jupiter in 12th house promised.

Thanks Hera, I've just tear a bucket. I'm back n ok now.

Well that's cool. But it doesn't sound like you were v.depressed, as in major depression diagnosis.
