Are we measuring hard to control in terms of squares or oppositions, or incompatible energies? It would seem the difficulty to control or manage certain kinds of energies is dependent on each individual. It wouldn't necessarily be generic. For example I consider being dominant Air and Fire difficult because there's not much to ground that energy however I love my chart and my astrological makeup. But that's just me and I can only speak for myself.

There are some charts that stood out to me as being incredibly difficult energies to manage in addition to difficult aspects:

Bruce Lee (had tight oppositions in his chart including Moon and Mars in Scorpio opposite Jupiter and Saturn in Taurus. Uranus in Taurus opposite Mercury in Scorpio. He also had Pluto in the 8th and pretty potent Plutonian energy with 4 planets in Scorpio. He was a Sagittarius. He had no planets in Air, besides his NN. Air might have been a way to set off all that fire and water intensity in his chart. He evidently died after having a bad reaction from ingesting a muscle relaxant. A short life and sudden death. Not easy energy to manage. http://www.astrotheme.com/astrology/Jimi_Hendrix

Jimi Hendrix had an interesting chart, another Sagittarius. He had some pretty strong oppositions, again with Saturn and Uranus included opposite his Sun, Mercury and Venus. He had some pretty potent Plutonian energy as well with Pluto in the 8th and Mars in Scorpio. Another one who died young and suddenly. http://www.astrotheme.com/astrology/Jimi_Hendrix

Marlon Brando also seemed to have a pretty tough chart.

I'm measuring difficulty to control energies in the chart by squares and opposites, and intense energy.

I mean look at Kurt Cobain, he had 8 planets in water. Hand downs he had one of the toughest charts, I've ever seen and it's so unfortunate that he ended up taking his own life. He had some pretty insane oppositions, tight orbs to all his personal and outer planets. He had Pluto/Uranus/Ascendant in Virgo conjunct and in tight oppositions to his Mercury/Venus/Saturn in Pisces. In addition he had a powerful Mars in Scorpio. He had no Air to give him perspective or objectivity, or the spirit of Fire for vitality. Kurt's story truly breaks my heart. http://www.astrotheme.com/astrology/Kurt_Cobain

I'd be curious to know what others think...

Those are good, as for me I think my mechanical bull aspect is actually Pluto conj asc exact.

Those people are all plutonic/ Scorpionic I see. Marlon is a scorp riser.

Y wud air make things easier tho, u think, for lee and cobain.

Sand, in your opinion, what might be something which is hard to control in a chart?

Your Pluto/Asc conjunction?

Everything has its good and bad, its upon you to try and keep the balance. and then theres also fate..soo hmmm...it all comes down to "keep moving"

I really do think air could have made a difference especially in the case of Kurt Cobain. Air is movement, flexibility, objectivity, clarity the ability to views things from a detached perspective. His energies were definitely imbalanced. Virgo gives him practicality but not objectivity. Air moves and changes. Having a bit more air in his chart would have been a nice release from the intensity of his emotions. He'd have the ability to get perspective from a impersonal stance. His emotions were overwhelming him. As humans we have to find a balance between our thoughts and emotions. To much of either can overwhelm us.

Bruce Lee just needed to slow down. He was moving to fast and overwhelming himself. He was a very, very intense person. His chart is incredibly powerful. Air might have given him more perspective. But everything happens for a reason. They were all meant to be what they became and go through life on their own spiritual journeys. They definitely had a difficult journey this time around.

It is interesting that they all are dominant Plutonian individuals. I think having dominant Pluto energy is definitely hard to manage. But it all depends on the whole chart.

i guess including what Joan mentioned. i would add a stellium. i know my h1 stellium is abit tough to control. it's pluto that rules that stellium so i mentioned pluto as my tough to control aspect.

yes i guess with time it can be controlled if one is so lucky. for me it's like when i interact and i see this opposition and i must get whatever it is out of the way to move forward so i go head on..

Hey Sand-dear, are you having a tough time managing your Plutonian energy? We can discuss it more in-depthly if you want. Dealing with my own Plutonian energy has not been easy, and it's always nice to share stories about experiences and find ways to help one another through the strife. Do you feel like you need more objectivity in your life? Without much Air do you feel imbalanced? I'm mostly interested in understanding the complexities associated with people who have dominant Pluto, Mars and Uranus energy which includes myself and you. It's probably why I choose to study the charts of Kurt Cobain, Bruce Lee, Marlon Brando (Mars/Plutonian), and Jimi Hendrix.

I could give you tips on connecting to your inner Air energies, and you could give me tips on learning to relax and be more of a hedonist. I'm practicing being a bit more indulgent, because I'm too far out of the atmosphere, in outer space. I need to connect to my earthy-ness.

I guess I'm fine now just sorta looking back at most of the chaos I've caused. Not really sure if it's objectivity I lack but more forethought.. But I guess the actions are similar anyway.

I don't have a lot of Uranus. It is unaspected and is my only mutable. Venus, Pluto, mars tho yes.

Don't u hafta go by way of another element in ur chart if u lack it? Like say water and earth for me.. Or is that for the overcompensation?

LMAO so ur saying ur Leo planets are not hedonistic? do u have no earth btw?

Oh and I guess it's abit more than just Pluto with me see..

I think in regards to elemental imbalances, it's all how you choose to manage it. If it's more effective to go the route of your dominate earth and water energies, most definitely do that.

I've been recently taking advice from earthy individuals about getting grounded. My Leo placements make me very into myself, a bit self absorbed and interested in lavish things and it adds intensity to my emotions however, Mars, Uranus, Pluto and Venus are my most dominant planets. Heavy on the Uranus specifically and then Venus/Mars/Pluto. I am a Venusian through and through, but I'm an Airy Venusian about concepts and balance and ethereal beauty. You'd be surprised that someone like myself a Libra Sun with Venus in Leo in the 7th conjunct Descendent in Leo would not be indulgent. I blame Sun square Saturn! That no good Saturn!

I have one planet in earth (Neptune in Capricorn). Which aspects Pluto and that's it. I'm for the most part devoid earth, but I'm self disciplined and practical being born on the 26th. Saturn co - rules my birthday along with Venus. I don't take care of my emotional and physical needs enough. Everything is strict with me, my diet, my lifestyle, my leisure time. I've been learning to be more flexible in regards to myself. I'm flexible mentally but not with my body, my Root Chakra is very underactive. I've even been celibate for the past 3 years. AH! I know, madness! Saturn's been transiting through my 8th house for the past 3 years. I needed a break in order to get perceptive but I've become so disengaged from my physical body.

I'm a self disciplined control freak. I'm trying to learn how to relax and connect with my body better. I'm just going to pick your brain Sand, if you don't mind...and feel free to pick mine!

Looking at your chart, I see you have your Sun and Venus in Taurus in the 7th. How indulgent would you say you are? What gives you pleasure (food, drinks, perfumes/colognes, massages, nature, people)? You've stated your a bit of a hedonist, in what way? Just examples of how you express that trait.

I'd say that the hardest energy to manage in your chart is the your Pluto/Ascendant conjunction and Mars/Saturn energies all in Scorpio opposite your Sun/Venus in Taurus energies with Mercury very close by. How have you been able to balance these energies? Are you still working on it? I just find oppositions very fascinating in charts, because I have many also.

You also have 5 retrograde planets, including all your outer planets. That's tough, you must internalize many things. How do you express that energy? How do you handle anger and your intense emotions? I have Mars retrograde and it's not easy.

Without getting to technical,(mainly because Ive had a horrible day today) I'll keep it short and sweet.

I agree with what Joan has concluded, it is how you choose to manage it.

Persoanlly, I wanted to see what your response was because for me, my Pluto energy is what helps control and balance all else. When ever I'm held back or need to be held back, I feel it is my Pluto energy that says "you can over come this." To me Pluto is about willpower and transformation. You should embrace that side of it. Its all in your mind, what ever you set it to, what ever you focus it to.

You also have NN in Gemini, which is Air. I have NN in Aries. And yes that is exactly what I lack as a person, I dont know how to give time to myself, I'm always wrapped up in others. THAT is my unhealthy balance. But the more and more I rise to change that, the more I give myself a wholer me. So what I'm getting at is from what I;ve exepericed, NN is something everybody should work towards, there is much to be learned out of it.There is much you will get out of it.

Look at your Gemini NN and house and try and figure out what is your missing to see. When you figure it out, try living your life with that perspective for a bit and see if you gives you anthing.Like with my Areis NN in h6, I always find myself in situations where I need to choose between giving service to others or myself. Idk what your lesson is, but maybe it could be something like you need to be more open, communicative, and undserstanding to 8th house realted things. Maybe your sexuality or intimate relationships or something else. Idk Im just trying to give you ideas but YOU need to dig deeper. and omg I said this was going to be short and i've babaled onn.

anyway, I hope this helped if any.

How wud 1 go with the air tho?

Haha I have abit of Leo myself u see! The type of Leo placement I would like to be are those that seem everything they seem to be. I dunno if it's the cancer mc conj the leo moon but I have a tendency to put a spin on things and I catch myself doing that sometimes, he'll it's my job lol! But ya I would like to live up to the hype.

I also find sags down to earth if you don't pay attention to everything else they say or the to-ing and fro-ing lol coz that can get lavish without them realizing it.

On the flipside if sun Saturn they say can cause insecurities, y can't that cause one to be indulgent as well?

26= 2+6 =8 =Saturn?

Root chakra? From the online test or did u just feel the energy out?

Iv taken this before but didn't score as bad lol!

Root: open (25%)
Sacral: under-active (-31%)
Navel: open (25%)
Heart: under-active (-25%)
Throat: open (6%)
Third Eye: under-active (-12%)
Crown: under-active (-19%)

3 years boy I will feel bad for ur next bf! That's not uncommon here tho.

Indulgent, I think in the moon square Venus manner. I think that they're in Leo and Taurus don't help much but I don't view it as that much of a bad thing lol! Basically it's kind of like food, sex, or shopping with me. Ack haha!
If I am broke and single I will get fat. If I am in a relationship I guess I find myself saving and getting thin. If I'm single and not broke I hoard stuff lol! Ryt now I'm kind of getting fat haha!

I haven't looked at all of them together but individually by aspect I know them. In my mind it's the darker Scorpio stuff I reject. I stay on the shallow side and stick to Taurus but the Scorpio planets are in house 1 so I guess they go out to others or are actually expressed. The Taurus side I do not project so much in that I am aware that's part of me and not something I completely look for in others. I still do look for it in others I think, there's no way around that even if I own up to the energies.

6 retros! I've made peace with them lol but iv only felt them recently like since my Uranus opposition or since Saturn entered my 12th. That's a sizeable 6-7 years tho overall. Before that I never questioned much lol! So I dunno if it's just a transit or a mix of them or the actual retros.

Yes mars retro is a toughie. I do think I internalize the big things. But being a h6 Aries with merc in Aries you'd think I didn't. But that's not me getting mad yet lol I'm just being impatient and annoyed.

They (saggimc) say Jupiter retro is too but the thing is if my Jupiter wasn't retro I also wouldn't have the sun trine. I read that every time Jupiter goes retro it trines the sun within 5 days or something. I fall within that period.

I see.. I think it's coz my Pluto is at zero degrees. I think the energy is abit more raw as someone pointed out to me.

I guess this is my favorite node link. Got it from Ariesdragon.

South Node in Sagittarius

You have a strong need to understand, to make sense out of life. You are uncomfortable when you don't know the answer. You seek a belief system, an ideology - and when you find it, you tend to adhere to it fanatically. It gives you a clear picture of not just what is, but how things should be, how people should be. Your morals thus follow from your beliefs; you base your decisions on an absolute sense of right and wrong. You thus tend to be overly judgmental, intolerant of those with differing beliefs or values. On the other hand, you feel a strong sense of community with those that share your beliefs, and a desire to expand that group. You take a leadership role as a manager, director, teacher.

North Node in Gemini

You are losing your mind and coming to your senses. You are discovering that your concepts prevent you from seeing what's right in front of your face. Within an ever-changing flow of experience you discover a complex and fascinating Universe that defeats all attempts at categorization. You discover that distraction is the spice of life, inconsistency liberation. Reality emerges in the gray areas, sparkling and multi-colored. Everyone now has something to teach you, and you never run out of questions!

South Node in the Second House

You do have a lot of stuff, don't you? You're very good at knowing what you want, and going after it. If you like it, you want to own it. Not real big on sharing, though. People sometimes call you selfish, or greedy, but you figure you've earned what you have and they're just jealous or lazy. You enjoy the pleasures of the flesh, but for some reason have never really connected to anyone. Relationships are just too hard, people want too much. But heck, you can take care of yourself, you don't really need anyone, right?

North Node in the Eighth House

Actually, you do. At night, alone in the dark, you feel a nagging sense that something is missing. You wish you had someone you could depend on, someone to share your deepest feelings with. You struggle with this uncomfortable feeling, but it drives you to reach out. You find someone, you connect, and the feeling is incredible! Such depths, such passion! And it is hard, but it's worth it. Your partner's needs are so different from your own, and yet you have to embrace them and value them. Above all, you have to meet them, no matter what it takes. You have to give up so much, in fact everything, but you get back even more.

Also my nodes are unaspected!! ryt? That's kinda strange isn't it?

Sand:

For me, Sun square Saturn has always been a difficult placement. I also have Saturn in the 10th with Uranus dancing there also. I also have Sun square Uranus, but my problem has always been limitations not expansion. I'm good with expansion, however limitations, and restrictions are too much for me. I've always been obsessive and controlling when it came to my welfare and my body and my right to freedom. Sun square Saturn in some cases can go the opposite direction but with me it's burdensome because growing up I always felt like people were trying to limit or control me (the funny thing is they ACTUALLY were). I dealt with stagnation a great deal from the outside world especially from authority figures (parents, teachers etc). So I'd become obsessive with my mind and body because that was all I could control. I grew up in a very conservative household and my parents, especially my father (Saturn) were very restrictive.

As an adult I've been trying for the past few years to release those tendencies and connect more to my center. I've always been very disconnected from my Root Chakra, and taking that test just confirmed it. I'm Air and Fire, with very little to ground me. Saturn in my chart just restricted me, and made me obsessively self disciplined and discriminate, but not necessarily centered or even grounded. I need to connect more to nature, you know, spend days lying on the grass, walking barefoot on the sand, doing more yoga, eating three meals (I tend to be a snacker), taking more baths, hiking, just getting more in touch with the natural world and my physical body. I have an overactive Crown Chakra, it's my most dominant Chakra always, and I feel that energy potently. I'm very intense, and spiritual with a great deal of nervous energy. I get light headed easily, it's just too much. I need to connect to the earth. Really put my feet on the ground.

quote:
How wud 1 go with the air tho?...

My suggestions would be to take time to mediate, and reflect. Just spend hours alone in a room with the window open or outside in a windy or airy place, and just contemplate everything. Continue having incisive discussions like the one were having right now and take moments to synthesize all this information. Make mental connections in discussions, make your brain work in a sense. If it feels like your getting a headache you might be overworking your brain but it basically means you putting your mind to use. Take a moment to analyze life, conceptualize an experience, attempt to see each experience through many prisms. Don't think so much about what is..think more about what could be. Thinking of varied possibilities towards handling situations and enjoying experiences. As mentioned by Violet7887 and yourself, you've got NN in Gemini, it's the direction you're moving in. You are innately learning how to connect with your Airy energy. Your concern is valid because it's the direction your heading in.

Here's a brief description from Astrotheme, about how to connect with Air and what that's important if you're lacking it in your chart.
"Air symbolizes the values of communication, exchanges with others, but also adaptability and flexibility abilities: if you don't get out of your cocoon to talk, to show interest in others, and to socialize, you may have problems understanding others. Because of your lack of flexibility or of your refusal to adapt yourself, you may be suddenly overwhelmed by events. You should get into the habit of talking, of phoning, and of thinking in terms of "mobility, flexibility, adaptability, change" in every circumstance. It will spare you so many troubles!"

quote:
3 years boy I will feel bad for ur next bf! That's not uncommon here tho.

I feel bad for him to! It's all good though, I'm just learning how to take care of myself and being at peace in solitude. Learning how to manage and channel my intensity and strong desires and drives. I have a love/hate connection with Saturn. Having him transit over my Sun/Mercury through my 8th house hasn't been easy but it did a number on my relationships and my sex life. But I wholeheartedly believe it was necessary. I needed to slow down, reconnect and get perspective. And Saturn allowed me to do just that.

quote:
I haven't looked at all of them together but individually by aspect I know them. In my mind it's the darker Scorpio stuff I reject. I stay on the shallow side and stick to Taurus but the Scorpio planets are in house 1 so I guess they go out to others or are actually expressed. I still do look for it in others I think, there's no way around that even if I own up to the energies...

Why do you think you tend to reject the darker side of Scorpio? That side's definitely hard to swallow, I know. Imagine having Mercury in the 8th, all I see is misery and death, and pain and suffering and torment and demons. Destructive thought patterns that won't let up, disturbing sexual fantasies, sadistic desires, being mentally corrupt in a sense. And then having Mars in Aries in the 1st makes me want to light the world on fire. I swear I've always got my metaphorical sword on deck. Having Mars/Pluto energies, exposes you to the underbelly of human nature. The twisted and tormented areas within the human psyche, the parts that live in the depths and stir violently. It's no surprise many very twisted individuals in human history have been dominant Mars and Pluto. You probably have similar thoughts and tendencies with your MIS/Pluto/Mars/Ascendant energy even if you don't want to admit it. Us Plutonians like to keep things under wraps, and be very secretive. I don't reveal my twisted thoughts or desires to anyone really, I just don't trust people.

I've learned from possessing these energies that the only way to control them is to understand them. Which means taking a dive in the deep end which is scary as sh#t. You can get lost there and it's hard to get clarity. But you've got that Earthy/Venus/Leo energy to bring you back to the surface. I've got my Uranus and Venus energies which allow me to soar through the skies. They give me clarity and a lofty perspective to view the world through. When ever I feel the claws of my Martian and Plutonian energies take over I quickly connect to Venus and Uranus to get perspective. It's allowing the energies to express themselves without having them take over and destroy you from the inside out. What a task? Feel free to express your dark side with me Sand. Lol. Nothing shocks me, I've been through a lot and have seen a lot, and know a lot from my own journey's to the underworld. It's a horrible place. A place you're only meant to visit, not live. You can't make a home in Pluto's layer, you'll lose yourself. But in order to understand yourself you have to visit there. I can tell a part of you as mentioned in that NN in the 8th description deeply longs to find someone to share your darkest and deepest desires and thoughts with. Desires and thoughts that might be considered twisted or taboo by conventional standards. I think you'll find that person, but in the mean time, don't be afraid to express yourself and don't hold back when discussing the nitty gritty in regards to your Martian/Plutonian energy. It might even help you connect better to your Airy energy. It's all about owning your energy through connecting to your essence. Each and every part of yourself. I think once you understand better why you are ambivalent about those Scorpio parts of your chart, you'll begin to understand their place in your existence and the purpose in relation to your life and mission. The best way to begin to understand them is to think about them in depth and talk about what you discover. Even from our discussion on this thread, I've learned a good deal about you and myself, which is truly wonderful. You've made me aware of things, that I would not have been aware of if we had not had this very interesting discussion.

I think my Saturn is more mental, all in the mind and I say that too often as well. (not saying it's any easier btw lol) I forget what placement caused this but it came up when I was talkin to someone here via email and and it clicked.. I don't have a merc Saturn aspect so maybe mars conj Saturn..

Ok cool! Will find time to sneak those activities in my week!

This leo moon didn't like Saturn in h12 hermit mode either! but yeah I guess I am more self aware now than I ever was before.

I think it's coz I have issues with power. Handling it i mean. I dunno but every time I get to wield it something goes wrong. Like people start leaving. I can also totally not care if they do. But maybe that's my yod speaking. Pluto is one leg, and the h8 chiron is the apex.

I don't think iv thot twisty thots that much. I am more of a do-er and perhaps therin lies the problem. Not all Scorpio stuff are sex related tho. Just to be clear lol!

Also my nodes are unaspected!! ryt? That's kinda strange isn't it?

Yes, thats why I think its even more so that you pay attention to that energy. Unaspected placements are more whole and so should be focused on more. Good link, It took some of the words right out of my mouth for my NN placements.

Bruce Lee is certainly a tough chart!

With all that Scorpio and Sagittarius energy (he also had asteroids Ceres and Pallas in Scorpio) and no air or cardinal planets (despite a strong eleventh house), it is clear Lee would have had tremendous trouble with basic social graces and civilities – a problem I know all too well from my own experiences! I was reading about how he got into numerous fights at St. Francis Xavier’s – probably far worse than the ones I had at school where fellow students said I was “a girl” or that I “smoked dope”, “sniffed cocaine” or “was gay” (which I assumed meant “happy”). That the children were silly can be seen from their likening of chalk to cocaine when I knew one gram of 80 percent pure cocaine could cost five hundred dollars!

It’s understandable why Lee would have turned as he did to martial arts, which fit his strong fixed emphasis as well as his aggressiveness.

Another case that is perhaps even worse – and of a type impossible during the protracted Neptune/Pluto waxing sextile that does not give way to the waxing quintile until the 2040s – is film director Ken Russell (chart). With eight planets in fire, his abrupt manner and self-centredness was certainly very tough in the public sphere, whilst no earth and no air (not found outside of 1927/1928 between 1849 and 2064) meant he had no capacity to understand objectively others’ viewpoints nor ability to work in the “real world”.

Russell’s sensitive Pisces Ascendant (strangely common among the famous born between 1926 and 1928 – think of Pope Benedict XVI, Allen Ginsberg, Elisabeth Kübler-Ross, John Coltrane, Walter Mondale, Serge Gainsbourg, Ethel Kennedy and James Keir Baxter) would have added further to his difficulties relating to the public, as would nine planets below the horizon. Consequently, that Russell made his living by making shocking and sexually provocative films is understandable – they put his character in a package that was usable for the public.

When you say this, it makes me wonder if their pluto energy was something that got them so far in their lives afterall. I mean, they got to become celebreties, having a big influence on many peoples lives. Would that be their spark of pluto, making them break through? Or something else...

I mean, a lot of people would have difficult chart but also lack the drive to at least become something big in their lives... they would die early, have a hard life, and just overall suffer through it all!
Hard life, but a hard chart too!

You make it sound like Ken Russell was a raging egomaniac. He came across as rather a sweet guy, actually. The ego was all in his films.

I have pluto/AC in libra(3 degree)

I liken Plutos destructive energy to a hose used to put out fires.
The AC person is the fireman trying to learn how to use and direct this tool(Pluto) so it's a positive energy instead of a destructive energy.
At first when he's new and still learning he's not strong enough to hold onto the hose as it's blasting massive amounts of water with unbelievable pressure...it knocks him over and injures him.
Because he can't hold onto or control it, the water goes everywhere, it's so powerful it rips through things and destroys whatever is in it's path.

But as he practices, gets some experience and an understanding of this tools power, he gets stronger.
He learns how to stand as he holds the hose so he's not knocked off his feet and the hose it doesn't fly out of control. He learns techniques that allow him to direct it's power. Eventually he learns how to use it.

Then he can direct it's power to only destroy the things that need to be destroyed, like a fire, it's destruction is harmful and brings chaos instead of productivity.

Pluto's destruction clears paths to new places.
AC/Pluto ppl are trying to hold onto that energy and learn how to direct into the world in a way that is good for all....but they can't do that until they are strong enough. So at first they can't help but be a little destructive themselves, once they get some wisdom, strength, grounding and experience that will change.

Kurt Cobain's chart was crazy! I find it amazing how the love of his life has never moved on, I would find it interesting to see their synastry and comp chart!

Bruce Lee and Jimi Hendrix were both born on my birthday!
