you asked about my experiences with the Vertex rulers and I thought we might rather explore this in a new thread.

There is an interesting scenario with my Vertex rulers natally.

Vertexruler is Moon on 17 Aquarius in 2nd house.
Antiverrtex ruler is Saturn on 17 Cancer in 8th house. So they are exactly inconjunct or quinkunx.

Antivertexruler Saturn is conjunct Vertex in Cancer in 8th house with an orb of a bit over 4 degrees, so maybe it is too wide, but I tend to count it nevertheless.

There are some additional feature to my Vertex.

My Sun/Moon-mp is exactly conjunct Antivertex on 21 Capricorn.

There are some asteroids connected to that Axis:
Eros on 21 Cancer
Pan on 21 Cancer
Destinn on 23 Cancer

Arthur on 21 Cap (only 0°03 off my Sun/moon-mp. lol)
Gawain on 21 Cap
Don Quixote on 23 Cap

------------------------------
The important info probably is that the ruler of my Vertex axis are in exact aspect; even though it is a minor aspect, the quinkunx, it is important I think.
As a matter of fact those people that came to my mind were "closing" a circuit by placing one or more planets in aspect to my Moon and Saturn.

I give you the examples and you can see a pattern unfolding:

1) my first serious crush, who had an extremely strong influence on my whole personal development actually. i think without him I wouldn´t be who I am today.
-------------------------------------------
His Sun square my Saturn exactly
His Sun quinkunx my Moon exactly

his moon sextile my Saturn (2)
his Moon square my Moon (2)

his SN conjunct my Moon (1)
his SN quinkunx my Saturn (0)

2) another guy who influenced my path very much
-------------------------------------------
his NN square my Moon (2)
his NN sextile my Saturn (2)
obviously his SN trined my Saturn.

his nodal axis was squaring the nodal axis of the first guy and both relating to my Moon in big ways.
not a far leap to start thinking of past lives and finishing old karma.

also, his Saturn was trine my Vertex (2) and his Pluto sextile my Vertex exact.

3) a guy I had a crush on in school. He was important, and I was very taken with him, but did not leave that lasting impression as the others did.
--------------------------------------------
his Sun square my Saturn (1)
his Sun sextile my Moon (1)
his Sun square my Vertex (3)

his Nn quinkunx my Vertex exact
quinkunx my Saturn and sextile my Moon by 4 degree which is considerably wider than the others.

4) an actor I did not really have a crush on, but nevertheless marked a very important poitn in my social development
---------------------------------
his Mars and Mercury sextile my Vertex (1-2)
his Mars and Mercury sextile my Saturn (2-3)
his Mars and Mercury square my Moon (2-3)

his Neptune trine my Saturn (1)
his Neptune square my Moon (2)

5) another example:
his SN conjunct my Vertex (4)
his SN conjunct my Saturn (0)
his SN quinkunx my Moon (0)
his Saturn trine my Moon (1)
his Vertex conjunct my Vertex (3)

obviously this means that his Antivertexruler is trine my Vertex-ruler.

----------------------

this also works for female friends that have or are playing an important part in my life.

1) my oldest friend (unfortunately we do not have contact anymore):
her Sun and Moon conjunct my Moon (0)
her Sun and Moon quinkunx my Saturn (0)
her uranus square my Moon (0)
her Uranus trine my Saturn (0)

2) the friend who shared my life most and for over 20 years now. lol:

her Sun sextile my Saturn (0)
her Sun quinkunx my Moon (0)
her Moon square my Saturn (1)
her Moon sextile my Moon (1)

3) a friend I am sharing the most spiritual and emotional things with; even though it is mainly an email friendship due to geographical distance, we have been friends for 8 years now, which is a pretty long time for an email friendship, originating from the internet

her Mercury conjunct my Antivertex exact

her sun conjunct my Moon (1)
her Sun quinkunx my Saturn (1)
her saturn conjunct my Moon (2)
her Saturn quinkunx my Saturn (2)
her ASC conjunct my Saturn (3)
her ASC quinkunx my Moon (3)
her Neptune square my Moon (2)
her Neptune trine my Saturn (2)

4) Another friend I am exchaning many emails with, mainly discussing astrological things (but not only)

her Moon, Venus, Saturn, NN square my Vertex (0-2)
her Moon, Venus, Saturn, NN sextile my Moon (1-3)
her Moon, Venus, Saturn, NN square my Saturn (1-3)

How is it with the rulers of your Vertex-axis? Anything interesting in synastry?

EDIT:
Obviously this means that in some cases one or several Yods have been formed.
Most striking it is maybe with the friend of 20+ years, as both our moons plus her Sun are involved in interlocking Yod-patterns synastrically.

her sun 16 Virgo
her moon 16 Aries

my Moon 17 Aquarius
my Saturn 17 Cancer

This is interesting.

I have Vertex in Scorpio, Pluto conjunct Vertex. Mars in Sag, conjunct my Su/Mo MP like you.

I'll have to see if Mars makes major aspects... Thus far I've only employed the Vertex itself and ignored the rulers.

Amowls,

how interesting that you also have a ruler conjunct the axis itself and Sun/Moon-mp.

I have used the axis itself, too, but have been considering checking the rulers as well as the rulers of the nodal axis, as these are calculated points just like ASC-DESC or MC-IC, wo why would we treat them differently?

Good point. Although, axis rulers do take a backseat to actual axis itself (for me). I haven't found anything significant regarding ASC ruler conjunct DSC ruler, for instance.

Ceridwen, interesting thread.

I have my Anti-Vertex at 13 Aries conjunct its ruler Mars at 9 Aries.

Ruler of my Vertex, Venus is exactly conj. my Sun/Moon mid pt. and they both exactly semi-square my Mars (ruler of my Anti-Vertex).

Not sure what it all means lol, but that seems like a lot of connections.

Well, it`s not always a conjunction.
I`ve made contrary observations actually, and would never dream of neglecting axis-rulers, though they are not as "in your face" as the actual axis I assume.

What I´ve found quite regularly though was the ruler of an angle being ON the actual angle of another person.
Something like
His DESCruler conjunct her ASC for example.

All in all, I would hyptothize that esp. conjunctions of axis- or even houseruler to the actual angles or planets might be stronger in the sense that they take more centre stage than aspects between rulers.

Linda Jones,

I think it means that aspects to your Venus and Mars are even more meaningful as in other charts, as they have a "double function". They are of course still and Venus and Mars and indicative of romantic and sexual attraction, but underneath this they will provide you with "turning points".
Actually it might mean that it`s through sexual relationships that you experience fated turning points in your life.
Of course it is of importance in which houses the Vertex as well as Venus and Mars fall also.

~waves~ at Ceridwen:

Intrigued, I also did a 'persona' chart for my Vertex ruler [Saturn] quite an eye opener...

I am still digesting that in the new light.

Hi Node, *waving back*

seems we have an opposed Vertex axis. Where is yours?

Never thought about making a Persona chart on my Vertex ruler, but since it is Moon, I of course have looked at it.
I actually love my Moon-Persona.

The freaky thing about it is that not only MP Sun is my natal Moon (which is always the case per definitionem) but my MP Moon is also conjunct my natal Sun. lol

My MP Moon is 25.28 Sag
my natal Sun is 25.56 Sag. lol

Additionally the MP DES-Atlantis-conjunction falls right onto my natal Venus on 6.08 Cap.

I guess it is not only indicative of emotional things then, but has something to say about "turning points" as well.

Thank you, Ceridwen. Anti-Vertex is in 12H in Aries conjunct its ruler Mars also in 12H. Vertex is in 6H in Libra. Its ruler Venus (also my chart ruler) is in 1H.

I can see Mars and Venus taking on greater significance in my chart. Keeping in mind that chart ruler is also Venus and it is exactly conjunct my Sun-Moon mid pt. and also exactly conjunct asteroid Wisdom, and exactly semi-square my 12H Mars conj. Anti-Vertex, how do you think this info (along with the house info I just gave) changes/adds things? Symbol for my Anti-Vertex at 13 Aries-a serpent coiling near a man and woman.

Here's another one if you could please:

7H Vertex is at 23 Virgo (Sabian-Mary and her little Lamb) and is conj. Jupiter (1 deg). Ruler Mercury is in 5H. Ruler of Anti-Vertex (Pisces) is Neptune in 8H. It is also chart ruler. Neptune is squaring Mercury by about 6 degrees. Here again the rulers of Vertex and Anti-Vertex/chart ruler are making an aspect to each other. What do you think about this one?

Also, are the symbols for Vertex (23 Virgo) and Anti-Vertex (13 Aries) in the above 2 examples significant?

Thank you.

Awesome a whole thread dedicated to this topic!

Yeah, starting with my first real crush I have literally never been attracted to someone where the Vertex was not involved. Although in my case, part of the reason for this may be complicated by my secondary Dsc….

I have a Gemini Dsc, and my secondary Dsc is my 3rd house cusp falling in Aqua, ruled by Uranus in Scorpio. That Scorpio Uranus is at 15 degrees and tightly opposite my Vertex. My Vertex Axis spans 15 degrees of Taurus and Scorpio, and is ruled by Pluto at 16 Libra, and Venus at 29 Sagittarius.

In my case the Vertex Axis is personally linked to mental activity and partnership. But even if it weren’t, I strongly suspect that Vertex connections general make the difference between a shallow passing fancy and an unforgettable romance… Connections to this Axis in synastry really seem to anchor a person in your psyche, and make them resonate with you on a profound level. It’s a ‘wow’ factor that goes beyond the trivial. The same is true in friendships, if they aspect your Vertex Axis, this friend will really stand out as special to you. And Ceridwen was right, it’s way more then just Sun signs, it’s how the entire chart fits your pattern.

Ceridwen, you asked how I’ve felt my Vertex rulers?

As it were, my first big crush in high school had Mars conjunct my Venus (Vertex ruler), and his Venus conjunct my Uranus/Antivertex. He was a Sag Sun, Moon in Cancer.

An interesting thing to note about my chart is that I have a Venus/Jupiter opposition… and both of these planets are involved in a semi-sqaure/sesquiquatdrate with Uranus and my Vertex Axis. So, if a planet in synastry conjuncts my Jupiter or Venus then they also semi-square or sesquiquadrate my Vertex Axis and Uranus.

Planets very early in cardinal signs, or very late in mutable signs set of my Vertex Axis. And also aspect my Venus/Jupiter. These degrees show up commonly in friendship and romantic connections. A female co-worker who I really got along with and liked had her Venus conjunct mine in (very) early Capricorn, and her Sun in Aqua square my Vertex Axis. My best female friend has her Moon in late Virgo sextile my Cancer Moon, and semi-square/sesquiquadrate my Vertex Axis. She had her Saturn in Scorpio directly conjunct my Antivertex, and her Neptune conjunct my Venus in Sag exactly. With both sexes I’ve noticed I sometimes have an affinity for people with planets in the middle of Aquarius… they not only square my Vertex, but are Uranus ruled (and I have Uranus oppose my Vertex so the symbolism matches).

When it comes to guys there is usually a planet in late Sag conjunct my Venus, and if not this, then there is something in either mid Scorpio or Taurus directly effecting my Vertex Axis. I don’t think I’ve ever really liked a guy with out one of these factors present in his chart. Sometimes both.

As life has gone on I’ve noticed personal planets conjuncting or opposing my Vertex many times with important people in my life. Venus and Mercury here are especially typical. I often tend to fall for Sagittarius and Aries by Sun sign (and one Gemini), and this is usually accompanied by Venus or Mercury in Taurus or Scorpio conjunct or oppose my Vertex. Mars/Venus aspects are also especially common for me in synastry with primarily me being the Venus person… I’ve seen some people on this board comment that they feel Mars/Venus aspects are not really that great, or are overrated… not so for me, perhaps it’s because Venus is my Vertex ruler?

I haven’t really noticed aspects to my Antivertex ruler Pluto, but that could be just because I randomly haven’t met anyone who aspects it that strongly yet. It’s possible that if I did, I may feel more of that ‘Vertex feeling’ than is usual for a Pluto aspects.

In terms of orbs I use 4 degrees for direct hard aspect to the Vertex Axis, and then use about 2 degrees for other aspects, and aspects to Vertex Axis rulers.

I would tend to agree just using my own case as an example. Venus is not only my Vertex ruler but also my chart ruler, and it aspects Mars my Anti-Vertex ruler. So, as Ceridwen pointed out, it's a Mars/Venus DW effect on me-with Mars/Venus being triggered thro Vertex/Anti-Vertex connections in synastry besides also functioning as "regular" Mars and Venus.
