...like so many other Pisces men, I hear (a CEO, I mean). Anyway, you've probably heard that JP Morgan Chase just projected their loss at ~$2.3-2.4 billion today. So yeah, a really smooth move by yet another recipient of the US taxpayer-funded 2008 bailout, due to a "flawed" and "poorly executed" strategy in addition to "errors, sloppiness, and bad judgment". Read the WSJ's excellent compendium of Dimon's best apologies here to get the full Piscean flavor of that "We're only human" sentiment. Choice bits include: On why this won't happen again: – “So, number one, we’re going to manage it to maximize the economic value for shareholders. What does that mean? It means that we’re not going to do something stupid.” To Bank of America analyst Guy Moszkowski, who Dimon apparently met with this week – “I apologize. When you were here, I knew you were here and I didn’t have – obviously I couldn’t tell you about this and, of course, I feel terrible about that.” (Moszkowski said on the call it was okay.) On press coverage of the London Whale before today – “I also think we acted a little too defensively to that.” Full story here IP: Logged |

Literally. He knew exactly what he was doing. He created the "hedging" strategy. He evn had the proprietary trader Macris do it out of London to skirt Dodd-Frank and the Volcker rule. So did Ina Drew, his Chief Investment Officer. Yes, she's a 55 year old woman and she has been his right hand treasury chief for a long time. Read this article in mid-April in Treasury and Risk Magazine. It predicted the fall a month in advance. http://www.treasuryandrisk.com/2012/04/13/jpmorgan-treasury-takes-big-bets IP: Logged |

...led an expansion into corporate and mortgage-debt investments with a mandate to generate profits...-So to be clear, how many bad stories start this way? Some of Macris’s bets are now so large that JPMorgan probably can’t unwind them without losing money or roiling financial markets, the former executives said, based on knowledge gleaned from people inside the bank and dealers at other firms. -There 'tis! "It’s a complete tempest in a teapot," Dimon said on a conference call with investors today after the bank announced first-quarter earnings. "Every bank has a major portfolio and in those portfolios you make investments that you think are wise." -LOL Thanks, illuminating read! IP: Logged |

The "I'm an ignorant boss who didn't understand what my rogue employees were doing" defense won't work this time around Makes it sticky that the gentleman was chummy with the Secretary Geithner and the White House. Not any more I guess IP: Logged |

Oooh, yes, I read that also. Can only hope that the similarly slippery Geithner will finally meet his own inglorious-PR-nightmare-fueled demise!IP: Logged |

I recently found out in personal news that an ex-pisces boss of mine, who was also the local firehouse chief, and a deacon of the church, was fired for some form of money embezzlement, also caught with a female employee at work.(wife/two daughters). He told all of us that he told his daughter on her 18th birthday that he didn't love her mother, but here is a car I bought you, happy birthday.. He stopped me once and asked for my honest opinion on what he had done. I asked him how does he feel when he lays his head on the pillow? He answer was "Good!", so I told him, "There you go, buddy." He was hard on us, him having such "High Standards" and all.. Pisces can go both ways and I am not talking about sex.. he used to brag about how he made one of his male employees literally cry for his job once. ..My my demon, Er I mean deacon.. my my. From what was spoken by many, he was taking from people who were just starting in the business. Somehow taking a little bit here and there and giving excuses about those same employees not using the time clock system right. He was altering it in the computer himself, then after doing three times he would fire them for not being able to use it correctly(incompetence). He would also be able to somehow keep part of the last paycheck because of that. *bonkers*
It makes sense because one night an ex-employee came in looking for him, He was going on about how he had proof he used them right haha. I thought he was just crazy. IP: Logged |
