I know our ASC is our "mask" and what we present to the world upon first meeting. However, I'm now trying to understand how the DSC plays a role in our personality. Not our lives or other people but ourselves. Since I have Sag DSC, does that mean I come off like a Gemini but really possess a Sagittarian personality/way of life? How does that correspond to our moon, which is said to be what people see when they're our "best" friends?

Aqua ascendant/leo descendant here, i personally think the descendant represents qualities that we admire/envy and feel we are lacking. I have several leo friends and i must admit that really envy how effortlessly they put themselves out there and become the lives of the party.and how its so easy for them to get close to people on an intimate level.

Also the Desc, describes the people that we attract.

I have Sag. Asc. Gemini Desc. But I also have Venus in Gemini in 7th H. So not only do I attract Gemini types but Venusian types as well.

Wouldn't everyone attract Venusian types? I'd get what you mean if you had Libra or Taurus as your Venus sign, but Gemini isn't a Venusian sign. Am I missing something?

I have a Gem ASC and Sag DESC as well. But I have Neptune in my 7th house. Since Sag is ruled by Jupiter and Pisces is ruled by Neptune, I mostly find myself attracted to men who have a Sag ASC conjunct Neptune or men with a PIsces ASC. That's because my 7th house, which stands for "other" is made up of the energies of both Jupiter and Neptune. So that's one of the things I'm looking for in "other".

Because my BFs have had a Gem DESC, they are attracted to people who have a strong Mercury element. I have a Gem ASC with Mercury in the 1st house.

The sign on the DESC is basically the energy which we usually project on to others and/or have a harder time owning ourselves. I find that because Sag energy is very opposite to my energy, I'm attracted to the balance it brings me. BUT - the more I attempt to become like my DESC (like the adage 'become the man you want to marry') the more balanced I feel within myself.

So the more I own that energy in my chart instead of projecting it on to someone else, the better off I am. (That's my personal experience )

They're saying that because they have Venus in Gemini in their 7th house, they also attract Venusian types.

I have Saturn, Uranus and Neptune in my 7th (Descendant in Sag). So I attract Sags, but also Saturnine, Uranian and Neptunian people.

I have the same thing as both you and Sorcha, amowls. Neptune is in my 7th! Although I find I attract more earth, air, water combinations (particularly Capricorn and Scorpio) than Sags. When I do meet a Sagittarius though I instantly feel free and at ease.

So, in short there's a part of my personality that IS Sagittarian? Because I feel it, I just wasn't sure if it was my DSC causing that.

I think that we feel our Desc as "the other" until we integrate that energy more fully in our own personalities. I've always found Sag to be a pretty laid back sign (considering it's a fire sign) - more easygoing than other signs. That's definitely something that I'm always endeavoring to integrate into my personality as I age. Having said that, I've never dated a Sag bc I don't feel a romantic spark with them but I do like Sag in Mercury and as an Ascendant

Also in saying that for some reason I just realized my DSC and MC are both ruled by Jupiter (Sag and Pisces). It's like my destiny in life is to learn how to let go of control and not be uptight, and to trust which are some issues I have! I mean I have Virgo IC... it's strongly pronounced too.

I envy people with heavy Sag/Jupiter influences cause they're so laid back and generally optimistic and active, pretty much all the things I am not! I definitely haven't incorporated my DSC (yet?).

I haven't to it's entirety either. I think if I had, I wouldn't be as indirect as I am now. I'm trying to figure out how to be blunt without being mean but it's a hard balance. And I definitely have to work on not analyzing everything! Super hard, and also I just realized too that my Gemini ASC and IC are both Mercury-ruled placements. It's just weird to me how I never saw that pattern before! Mercury = thinking... and my goal is to stop thinking and just DO and hope for the best (Jupiter) Like I'm supposed to be spreading the word!

I know what you mean, Mercury is also my Moon dispositor! AND my North Node is in Sag, right on my DSC. So I'll eventually have to integrate that part of me, which is quite non existent, as for now

What and how do you find out what your moon dispositor is?

Oh it's just a technical word for ruler.
For example, if your Sun is in Aries, then the dispositor of your Sun is Mars.

Yeah I can totally relate to the blunt without being harsh thing. Working on it. And working on more optimism/less analysis and being more chill. Ah. The life long quest!

Our ascendant is kind of like our essential vehicle / mask on how to Survive in the environment.

for example, if i dropped you into the middle of a jungle and i asked you what 5 things you'd want with you to help you survive it and manage it, then that is one of the areas your ASCendant takes over, simultaneously i'd say with your mars. Followed shortly by Sun and moon.

as for the descendant, i agree, i think its a projection of things - i think it is also the part of us that justifies our Self and reasonings for why we are that way.

its the flip side to ourselves, we know it exists and we value it in others, and appreciate it, but aren't familiar with How to be IT on a comfortable level, its not our natural traits or choice of tools for survival, but we admire the differences maybe.
