It doesnt matter the gender. Do you really think that 4th house is the house of father for women and 10th the house of mother for men? Nope. Parents are bnoth represent by 4th house. Siblings are in 3rd house and relatives (uncle, aunts), 5th house are your children, 1st are grandparents, 7th house is your partner alone, 9th house is your in laws.

I'd imagine it'd be the 10th because its the 4th (family) from the 7th (spouse).

edit: Rulership book says 9th for in laws in general, parents in law specifically is the 10th (same sex as you) or 4th (opposite sex).

http://www.skyscript.co.uk/temples/h1.html

and then the table on right side column, you can browse and see which house your matter relates to.

In Horary astrology, we assign the 9H to in-laws.
But in a natal chart, it makes more sense to assign the radical 4H to the native's mother-in-law & the radical 10H to his/her father-in-law.

If 9th house is afflicted or the ruler falls in 4th, 8th or 12th house.

9th is in gem. Duplicated from the 8th. Ruler merc is in h6 conj dc.

How does 1 know if a house itself is afflicted tho rosalind? If the sign itself doesn't mesh with the energies? I guess since sag rules the house and mine is in gem.. It's afflicted?

Your 9H is in Gemini.

Check which sign Mercury is in.
Go to the site below & see if it's in any of it's essential dignities or debilities (detriment or fall).
http://www.skyscript.co.uk/essential_dignities.html

If it's not in any of it's essential dignities, then it's peregrine.

detriment or fall is bad.

If it's angular, good
in a succeedent house, ok
in a cadent house, not so good.

See the aspects it's making.
Squares & Oppositions are bad.
conjunction(exception: if within 0'17) with the Sun is bad.

I see! Thanks depth..

My merc is in Aries so it's peregrine.

It's in h6. Cadent, so not so good.

Opposition to Pluto
Square to moon
Trine to Neptune.
Loose conjunct to Venus.

It's not cazimi or conjunct to the sun..

The opposition to Pluto is malefic.
Trine to Neptune seems fine.

Check Moon's receptions with Mercury.
If Moon is in Virgo, Gemini or any other sign where Mercury is somehow dignified & sits in the 1st,2nd,4th,5th,7th,9th,10th or 11th, then the square can be overcome with conscious effort.

Venus is in detriment in Aries & it's conjunction to mercury isn't all that good. However, Venus is AKA the lesser benefic. It shouldn't as detrimental as the opposition to Pluto.

Read online interpretations for the above aspects. Just remember that the conjunction will act more like a square & the maleficence of Pluto increases.
