Is there a difference? Living in the northern hemisphere, my whole understanding of astrology closely fits with my understanding of the weather patterns: I'm a Capricorn, born on a cold day, and perceived as *cold* sometimes. Makes total sense!
So I've struggled to believe that the northern hemisphere astrology actually applies to the southern hemisphere, for that simplistic reason.
I was happy to discover that the brilliant astrologer Dane Rudhyar also had his doubts, and proposed dividing the earth into top, middle, and bottom, with a unique astrology for each section.
Here's the idea I like the best, though:
quote:
there is another way to overcome this problem, and that is to have six dual or "bipolar" Tropical signs, instead of 12 single signs. These six dual signs would be Aries-Libra, Taurus-Scorpio, Gemini-Sagittarius, Cancer-Capricorn, Leo-Aquarius and Virgo-Pisces....A person born in April, for example, would be born under Aries-Libra, but would be more weighted towards Aries in the Northern Hemisphere and Libra in the Southern Hemisphere, as shown above. Someone born in August would be a Leo-Aquarius. If they were born in London they would be more weighted to Leo, but if born in South Africa they would be more weighted towards Aquarius. A person born on the Equator on the same day would have equal weighting of Leo and Aquarius.
