I'm confused!

Do I read my sun sign AND my rising sign horoscopes? or I do I read just one? Does this apply with reading about special transits as well? (i.e. Jupiter going into Gemini 2012)

Thanks!
XOXO

My personal opinion is that newspaper horoscopes are hogwash and should be taken with a grain of salt. I think they are a big part of the reason astrology isnt taken more seriously by the mainstream.

Agreed. The reason why I first didn't believe in astrology is because of those stupid newspaper horoscopes. You should check your natal chart & see which house gemini is in for that jupiter transit. Then go to cafe astrology or google & do some research. I don't think astrology can describe every single day of your life, remember that you still got free will, don't rely on horoscopes.

Very true.

If you enter your info on astro.com I personally like the "personal daily horoscope" because it focuses on a prominant transit for that day (although I'm not sure how this is chosen) and it lists other transits you have that day as well...

I read Tali and Ophira Edut's horoscopes at Lifetimetv.com (especially weekly, monthly and yearly); I find them to be extremely accurate. I do read my rising sign for a balanced forecast. I also like Susan Miller's monthly horoscopes. To say that there is no such thing as a valid horoscope, to me, is the equivalent of saying all astrology is hogwash. It depends on the timeframe and the astrologer.

I believe astrology.com does offer personalized dailies as well, at least a free sample for a week or something.

I read transits and don't bother with horoscopes.

I love them! Personally I look at my sun, moon, and rising signs because their all in different elements, cardinal, fixed and mutable.

Try Penny Thornton's Astrolutely. She was pretty accurate for me one year. I am always confused which sign to read, having sun at 29 Scorp and 4 major planets(jupiter, nerptune(asc ruler)venus merc) in Sag.
I am one confused Scorp or Sag. LOL.

Pretty much same here, though I do like to read some monthlies for fun.

They can give a good overall feel for the month. & i don't bother reading Sun or Moon sign. Just personal preference and what I find works or is more spot on.

I could not agree more. I know somebody who's dad used to write them for our local paper and she outright told me that he made them up. This was before I was into astrology obviously, otherwise I'd have been outraged.

Horoscopes are to Astrology as Homeopathy is to Medicine. Even if they're accurate and well thought out, they're still such a tiny fragment that it's not worth anything.

As someone else said, Astro.com has a Personal Daily Horoscope. If you're natal chart is entered there, they'll pull up info on a select number of transits each day, along with having a separate area for long term transits effecting you. They'll list when the transit starts and when it'll end too.

Only, even then their interpretation of how the transit will effect you could be off. Better to use that to get an idea of what transit is effecting you, look up the transit and see what it means, and/or figure out the time frames in your past you've had the same transit to get a better view of how you'll be effect by it.

Hi Sashar, I agree with you, Astro.com lists the personalized transits based on the natal charts, but their interpretation of the transit is sometimes so out of context that it never seems to apply to the current situation.
My dilemma lies in the fact that even with the same transit, I don't think the same events would occur. Let me explain- by all astro calculations I should be a Scorpio with my Sun in 29 deg of Scorpio, but not a Sag though I have 4 big planets in Sag. But Jupiter transits( trine, opp, square, conj) re. Scorpio never does anything for me.
But the last time Jupiter was in Gemini finished my highest level of education, got my degree which was a major milestone. When he was in Sag 5years back I changed my job going from a miserable one to a good one.
This time around though I am not looking for a degree, so what will the transit bring me? My love life is in a state of flux right now.Sag is my 9th house so not my house of love or romance but it has Jup, neptune, venus, merc and MC in it.How will Jupiter influence my love life when he goes through Gemini this time?
I am honestly confused and trying to understand how transits work. Any help will be appreciated.

If you're lucky like me to have one sign taking up all of H1 from early to late degrees, then just read for the ASC. But if it's not so clear, you do have more work on your hands. Late degree ASC, then don't read for your ASC sign, read for the sign that takes up the majority. And for the Sun too, but try to read someone who goes into the nitty gritty, not just someone who thinks you're gonna strike it rich cos Jup is transiting your 2nd.

You should read for your sun. You aren't two or three signs--just one.

However, where you get your horoscope is important, as is how you approach it. If you expect everything that a horoscope says to come true or to be some kind of prediction, personally, I don't feel like that's realistic. I think that it's more realistic to approach it as a guide/advice/a heads-up from the universe, or else as a sort of explanation as to why certain themes are coming up in your life at this time, rather than as a revelation or something.
