I have been haunted by a song. What is the song trying to say? Why is it so haunting? To what does it speak? I think it is a 12th House song. The 12th House hurts so badly, because the person yearns, but cannot seem to get what he yearns for. It seems he cannot act in his own behalf. He swims in the waters of Pisces, wanting and yearning, yet not being able to make his dreams become reality. That seems to be the legacy of 12th house planets.I seem to be doing many charts with 12th house planets.How does one put in to words, the feeling of living in an alternate reality? Non 12th House people do not understand. The 12th House person is a sort of alien. He feels things more deeply. He feels pain more deeply. Rejection hits him deeper. In that sense, he is living in a world within a world. Music can speak where words fail. Does this song speak to your 12th House reality? It speaks to mine.

Sun in the 12th House

The Sun is our most dominant part. It is our identity, our ego, what we know as our “self”. In an emotionally healthy person, the Sun sign will be the strongest. If the moon or Ascendant is dominant, something is out of balance. That is why someone with little astrological knowledge can pick out sun signs. All people need to shine. We need to express ourselves, as surely as we need to eat . One would not literally die, if one’s self were dormant, but something of import would die. The 12th house sun cannot shine as the other house’s Suns. It is the hardest placement for the Sun, as the 12th house opens to the next dimension. The Sun is discrete. For a person to be emotionally strong, his identity has to be separate from others. The 12th house is a dissolution of boundaries. As such, the Sun does not want to do what all Suns were made to do, individuate.

The 12th house Sun will want to retire, rather than put himself on center stage. He will hold back. If there are a group of children playing, the 12th house Sun will pretend he does not care to join, but he does. This Sun wavers between going back and going forward. He may be interested in all things mystical and spiritual. He may want to work in out of the way places such as prisons or hospices. Perhaps, he does shine, but it is in a different way. He may be the most spiritual Sun, house placement wise. As such, he will be different but he needs to learn to celebrate these differences, as the hardest aspects can be better made for service to others, as we are forced to climb to overcome. As such, we have a depth and a humility that the easier chart could never know.

Mars is the planet of action. It shows how we pursue what we pursue, whether it be a date, a job, or our side of an argument . The 12th house trumps any and all placements in the chart, for difficulty. Mars does not like to be in the 12th house .Mars likes to be where it can move forward in a direct way. Mars likes to take bold and decisive action. The 12th house trumps even the best Mars sign and renders this Mars very unhappy. Just as Mars loves to go forward to pursue a goal or say what is on it’s mind, the 12th house turns it inward. Mars wants to boldly shout it’s position, in an argument. The 12th house makes it reticent to make a peep. So, it becomes passive aggressive with it’s anger. Mars wants to pursue a woman. Mars in the 12th make Mars insecure and self doubting. Mars wants to pursue worldly goods. Mars in the 12th makes it procrastinate and second guess it’s motives. It may even give up, altogether. This Mars position is the same as the moon in the 12th house, in that it is like a child facing the wall in time-out. First, it has to turn itself around before it can even begin to get where it wants to go. If you know someone with this Mars position, know that they are struggling with a burden which may be mitigated but never totally overcome.

The 12th house takes the NATURE of a planet and pushes it way, way down so it is very hard to express it.

Saturn and Self Doubt

If one is discussing self doubt, look to Saturn, first off. Retro Saturn is harder than direct Saturn. A Retro Planet is a planet turned inward. It is different than a 12th house planet, which is a planet turned to the next dimension of mysticism,spirituality and creativity. A Retro planet goes in a loop, in a kind of obsessive way. A Retro planet must go deeper and deeper into itself until it really understands the nature of the planet. Then, it has a depth in the area of the planet. Then, it can “do” the planet . Saturn Retro is one of the harder Retro planets, although Venus is the hardest, in my opinion. Retro Saturn gives the native a deep seated and persistent insecurity. The nature of Saturn involves an inner brooding, anyway. Retro Saturn exacerbates this. Retro Saturn makes for a great deal of self doubt. The self doubt would be manifested WHERE Saturn is located. If Saturn is conjunct the ASC,one feels insecure about one’s place in the world; ones identity in the world. This differs from Saturn conjunct the Sun which would go deeper as the Sun is a more personal place than the ASC. Saturn conjunct the Sun may be the hardest Saturn placement. If Saturn conjuncts the moon, one doubts one’s emotions. Making connections with others is hard. Saturn conjunct Venus may make one doubt his ability to love and be loved. Saturn conjunct Mars may make one doubt one’s ability to meet one’s goals To elaborate on this. Saturn can make the house and sign difficult, as well. I did an article on Saturn in the houses and one on Saturn in the signs. I find Saturn makes people insecure by house and by sign, as well.
