A lot depends on Mars, its sign and aspects.
I have this in Gemini. I get "competitive" in a verbal sort of way.

Any planet on an angle will be prominate in the Natal and Mars here is action oriented so we tend to push or test others to see who has the best plan.
It's an aspect of leadership.

Thank you. And my Mars is in Leo and it is square my Moon and Midheaven and trine my Saturn. My 7th house however is ruled by Cancer.

The person that I'm having these tiffs with (we get along fabulously on the one hand but irritate each other on the other)... well we seem to have an awful lot of Mars aspects in synastry....

My mars makes 12 aspects in his chart (well maybe some asteroids I don't know about too):

conjuncts his sun (as his does mine), mercury (again his does mine too), venus and saturn
squares his uranus, north node and chiron
trines his neptune and his ASC (his trines my ASC too)
sextiles his pluto
qunitiles his jupiter
and quincunxes his MC

His mars makes 7 aspects in my chart (that I know about):

conjuncts my sun, mercury, uranus and pluto and conjuncts to the same degree my vesta
trines my moon and ASC (I trine his ASC too)
and semi-quares my Jupiter

I'm kind of wondering about the vesta conjunct mars thing because I find that even though he irritates me at times and wigs out on me a bit, I am not responding the same as I would to other guys. I find I'm much more patient and calm with him and able to just let him wig out a bit and treat him fine when it's over. It's really rather strange for me! lol

I hear you. I absolutely find that I am drawn to alpha types and find passive men do not attract me or at least can't keep my attraction at all. But the problem is that with the alpha types, seems like it's not an easy dynamic like I want it to be.
