I read that Katie Holmes filed for divorce from Tom Cruise, and am not at all surprised. From media reports & pictures, it seemed as if Katie was more like Tom's puppet than his partner. Other than the recent Venus Rx, is anything else going on astrologically to provide a clue as to why Katie decided to divorce now?

This doesn't draw a picture, but those are the major changes I see in her Chart.

Both were going through pLQ squares in their respective charts.

Transiting sun, Pluto, and Uranus forming a t-square near within 3 degrees of Cruise's natal sun might have been a factor.

In synastry he had his Sun conjunct her antivertex… She had crushed on him since she was a girl, and when they got together it probably felt like a dream come true. Unfortunately, I think the reality of Tom Cruise has not lived up to the dream of Tom Cruise for Katie…. Honestly, I suspect it’s the Scientology stuff that ruined it for them. I read that they had disagreements over how to raise their daughter, and she has filed for sole custody of Suri. It’s a rumor but I wouldn’t be surprised if it was her concern for her child’s future that finally sealed the deal.

I’ve always liked Katie Holmes. I hope she recovers positively from this.

Looking at her Solar Return, a few things come up, but I'm not sure how significant some of them are. *Note: I used her birthplace for her reference place.

Her SR houses are in the same signs of her natal houses. She natally has Venus conjunct Uranus, which can be a divorce aspect (can't remember), and Aquarius is on her natal and SR 7HC. Her natal and SR ASC ruler and DC ruler square each other. Her SR Juno conjuncts her natal Uranus and sqaures her ASC. Her SR Neptune is in her 7H, so maybe she has come to realize that things are not as she thought. It has been said that Tom was shocked when he received the news and Neptune is known for surprising the unsuspecting party about things not being great for both people.

I did feel a bit sad for him when I heard that he was shocked, and saddened by the news. Even if he is mentally off on a strange tangent, that’s gotta hurt.

She always seemed terribly sad (they were rarely seen out together and her career went down the tubes), so this may be best for her and the relationship, child, altogether.

Caught a headline pointing out that Cruise can't keep a wife over the age of 33. This is the 3rd time it's hapened to him.

Maybe they all have their Saturn return and not longer after, wake up and find it's time to leave him.

He has shown to be a bit off his rocker with the whole Scientology thing. I get a controlling vibe from him.

The article also pointed out that in an interview once he said he had asked her why she was up so late every night.

She threw a script on his desk and said, becasue of this...

She'd been writing a play and he had no idea.

As a husband, how could you not realize your wife had been focussing so much time on something like that.....and only ask when she'd just finished it..

they seemed distant.

& in a rare picture taken together...here and there......i could sense it too.

I remember when they first started dating, it caused a web stir because it was said that he was out looking for a much younger women and had asked a few leading ladies (at the time) on dates before he settled for Katie. A few were creeped out and turned him down, but it seemed as though his goal was to find a woman much younger and it finally worked on her.

In a recent article, she said when she was a girl she always thought some day she'd grow up to marry a famous actor and her ideal was Tom Cruise.

Can't believe everything you read, but I do feel like he's not all there and she may have gotten duped to some degree. Who really knows...

I feel bad for both of them and their families. It seems that he was oblivious to her unhappiness and maybe she held on for as long as she could, hoping that something would change for the better (just speaking as someone from the outside looking in). True, he does seem odd, but who wouldn't when constantly in the spotlight? Lol. I love him as an actor, so it's hard to judge his behavior as the tabloids do.

Not to feed into the speculation about why she wants sole custody, maybe it's because she's more of a full-time parent than he is? Also, she could see the damage that Nicole Kidman's absence from the older children's lives has done. She, herself, did an interview about how she doesn't get nearly as much time with them as Tom. I got the feeling that she felt replaced and guilty about the lack of time she has with them.

I believe she loved the thought of being in love and then she got bored when reality hit. She started to look bored and disinterested in pics. It's typical behavior for a sag to live in the moment and I think this was just a phase and she's ready to move on.

They resemble each other a little bit, can't quite pinpoint exactly what it is. Maybe it is just the Sag energy in both.

I am really fascinated by the news of the split, as Katie was born a few days after me, and so we share similar placements. I'm also feeling detached from my partner, who is oddly enough also a cancerian. Hmmm I'm going to take a look at my progressed chart, and see if anything pops up.

I just read an article that stated that Katie has apparently been followed around by some men in black cars. And it’s suspected that it’s the Scientology people keeping tabs on her now the she’s made a break for it. There was also some pictures of her smiling, and the article quoted some people as saying she looks more radiant and happy then she has in a long time… Apparently she was constantly monitored when she was with Tom, and now she seems relieved.

When I’d see pictures of her sometimes, before the break up, she reminded me of a bird in a cage. She’s got way too much fire in her chart to put up with it permanently.
