Hmm, I've heard of Virgo being a barren sign too... I think this mainly counts when on the cusp of the 5th house.I don't see why Virgo should be barren, for reasons like you said. The moon represents fertility... and isn't in any detriment in the sign of Virgo. Interestingly, Mars is traditionally thought of as sterile, and Venus fruitful/fertile... Venus is at detriment in the sign of Virgo. One other reason I could think of is that Virgo is next to Leo, not only is Leo barren it's self, but being represented by the sun, it therefore makes the sign of Virgo combust, in theory. In the case of Cancer, this isn't true because it is ruled by the moon. But the idea of barren and fruitful signs in fairly archaic. I hope this was a good answer. I thought I'd reply seeing as no one else did Let me know your thoughts. IP: Logged |

I don't think Virgo is a barren sign actually the sign virgo reminds me of the story of Persephone well the "abduction of Persephone" I actually regard Virgo as one of those "transformation" signs with loss of innocence comes a higher realization and purpose. My mom's a Virgo asc and Sun sign and I am here existing so. Plus Artemis was the goddess of the moon, fertility and children. Yet she was a virgin as well 0_O IP: Logged |

LOL I hope Virgo isn't barren. According to renaissance astrology I will have few children due to my Gemini ascendant, and having Virgo on the 5th house cusp IP: Logged |

It's a few days since the 'barren Virgo' conversation but I just came across it and want to say I find it odd as Virgo is earth. I also find it odd that Libra is semi-fertile as it's an air sign. Well it's ruled by Venus and Virgo is ruled by Mercury; makes some sense I suppose. Junethird, you have Libra in your 5th house so fertility is present.IP: Logged |

My personal theory is that during the Age of Pisces, Virgo became barren, because it couldn't fully express itself in an age ruled its polar opposite. But that's about to change since we have moved into the Age of Aquarius. IP: Logged |

Virgo is not barren. Virgo has been associated with fertility and agriculture since ancient times. Virgo is strongly tied to the archetype of Ceres/Demeter. Some believe (I do too) that the zodiac sign of Virgo is actually ruled by Ceres, not Mercury. IP: Logged |

I agree diamondbaby Fertility is shown by the Moon sign. Water signs are VERY fertile. Earth signs are fertile except for Capricorn, who has issues. Air signs are so so except for Gemini, barren Fire signs are barren except for Sag thanks to Jupiter. ------------------ Don't look back, you're not going that way. IP: Logged |
