The Moon in Libra has a powerful need for relationship and to please other people. The usual pattern is to have adjusted and compromised to meet the needs of others. Now, the needs of the Self have to be taken into account.

THE NEED FOR A RELATIONSHIP
To this soul, being in a relationship has been essential. It has spent lifetimes as “the other half.” The soul feels that another person is essential to make a complete whole and does not value independence. So the Self becomes lost in the Other. True feelings are submerged so that harmony is maintained. This may sound selfless, but it is inherently selfish. Conflict and separateness bother this soul so much that it will do anything to keep the illusion of harmony going. The task for the soul is to find true cooperation and inner wholeness. The real relationship is with the Self. In the process, two people come together not as separate halves but as individuals who relate. The needs of both are recognized and a creative compromise is affected.

THE PEOPLE PLEASER
The soul carries the archetype of the people pleaser. Harmony is sought in all things, no matter what the emotional cost. To be thought “nice” is vitally important. Self-worth is based on other people’s opinion. To avoid conflict, the needs of oneself are put aside in favor of the needs of others. But this “niceness” is lethal, insincere, and not to be trusted. It cannot be relied upon because deep down, personal needs fester and ultimately burst out with great force. Other people recognize this unconsciously, and it gets in the way of true relationship. So this soul is challenged to be authentically nice. This soul says it does not like to cause other people pain. The soul cannot face the discomfort of its own pain, which may be contributed to by feeling the other person’s pain acutely. Libra has a powerful need to be in a relationship, but not to be in love. This sign can be calculating and a secure relationship may mean more than “love”. Without a secure relationship, Libra can become too demanding and manipulative. The soul with this placement has deep fears around social ostracization. It needs to be needed – and to be liked. What Libra also needs is for things to feel right. The atmosphere has to be harmonious, the ambience one of accord.
