i am curious to know what makes a moon or venus afflicted? do you think it is the sign or the house that the moon or venus resides in or is it the aspects to certain planets?most descriptions of sun conjunct moon aren't terrible but a conjunction is a hard aspect. does that make the moon afflicted? i guess that there a lot of things to consider, and a list would greatly help in determining an afflicted moon or venus.

i think that a conjunction has the potential of going both ways, depending on the planets involved. i've read that moon conjunct mars is a difficult aspect because the energies of each planet are not at 'home' with one another. something along those lines. what do you think? IP: Logged |

Conjunctions, trine, and sextiles are usually seen as good. Oppositions, squares, qunicux and semi-squares are challenging aspects. But some people thrive with challenging aspects it helps with enotional and mental growth. The planets to look at are usually Saturn hinting karmic issues, Uranus because of the unpredictablity of it's nature, Neptune because the darkside of dreams is disillusion, and Pluto because it's all about transformation, sex, death and rebirth. A high concentration of afflicted planets in a certain house is usually a sign. Personally I think challenging aspects to Eros, psyche and bml Lilith should been taken into consideration. A afflicted Lilith in a man's chart could point towards hating women or at least the things Lilith represents; female empowerment and equality.IP: Logged |

ail221,that's what i was thinking about squares, oppositions, etc. the opportunity to grow is there so it wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing. i guess that i don't really understand why conjunctions are thought of as good aspects, when it makes the energies involved very one-track minded in a sense. i did not know about the black moon lilith and will look more into it. and i am guessing that you knew that i was looking into this afflicted moon/venus thing because of a thread posted by another person. lol. Some people count conjunctions as hard (if not problematic) aspects because identity loss often occurs between the planets involved. A completely new energy is created in the synthesis, especially in the case of close conjunctions. In my experience they are individual entities which derive their ease/difficulty from environmental conditions. Aspects to the conjunction as well as fun factors like dignity, etc... set the stage for how the conjunction acts. Whether a conjunction is waxing or waning also changes its flavor, for some astrologers. I did a Google search and this person explains affliction in a fairly straight forward way. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20080220042349AAFT06t IP: Logged |

Xiiro, thanks for sharing that link. i see what you mean about the creation of new energy. i have a tight moon conjunct mars conjunction within 1 degree and it was hard to manage in my earlier years. mars is dignified, but moon is in fall. i felt very uncomfortable with it. i have very strong emotions and it caused a lot of tension as i didn't know when to act and when to chill out. whether i came on too aggressive, or too passive.
