Which do you use and why?

I am wondering because my composite midpoint has sun and mercury in the seventh but with reference method we have Venus in the seventh. Also the chart ruler is different in the latter.

Midpoint. It takes from both birth charts as they are.

Using a location mid-way between two birth charts' locations moves into fictional territory. I don't like fiction in astrology.
