I`ve noticed that hard aspects (specifically the square) to angles, the nodes or Vertex happen A LOT in significant relationships and are often a lot more positive and supportive and stimulating than we would expect.

It seems to me that the square to angles works a bit differently than a square between personal planets would.

And I was wondering if the reason for that might be that angles are always an axis.
ASC-DESC
MC-IC
NN-SN
Vertex-Antivertex

so any planet squaring one end of the axis would of course sitting on the midpoint of the whole axis, and therefore might indicate the spot where the energies of both flow together/ are integrated/ focused.

I think I have a lot of those. I'm very fixed and angular.

Moon squares the asc- dsc axis

Mercury and Venus squares the mc-ic axis

And mars squares the vertex- anti vertex axis

My nodal axis has no aspects.

If synastry I have been with 3 suns that square by sign. Not sure if they actually do. Leo, Aquarius, and Aries.

Great observation, Ceridwen!

Bumping.

You are dead on in my case. My most significant relationship to date, one that I'll never shake I don't believe, involved their Moon squaring my NN-SN and I felt their emotions completed me.. made me "whole". Needed them. Truly.

The persons planet that falls at the midpoint of the others axis becomes someone they feel can help them become more complete.

Its true for me I think.

My sun squares my bf's nodal axis and my moon Is on his SN. My NN is opposed by his pluto (although not a personal planet so I'm not sure how significant that is). His progressed vertex conjuncts my venus and pluto; his saturn (chart ruler) conjuncts my vertex and squares my sun. My progressed asc axis conjuncts his ic/mc. His mercury conjuncts my mc and my progressed chart ruler conjuncts his mars and asc; my chart ruler conjuncts his sun; his progressed chart ruler squares my asc.

In the past similar has happened; I've had an ex I cnt get rid of with his asc opposing mine; our chart rulers conjuncted each other's dsc rulers.

My first love had his venus conjunct my ic, my chart ruler opposing his sun and I'm not sure what else, I'd have to look that up.

And that's just the romantic relationships; but I've seen similar patterns in everyone I'm really close to.

I'm glad to hear something positive about squares.
Whenever I researched squares to angles, it always was described as a negative influence, difficult and challenging. And there's very little info on squares to the nodes and the vertex.

I haven't studied many charts to say that there's definitely a link between squares to angle and significant relationship but I know that I share those with the two men who have affected me the most in my life until now.

One is a long time very close friend:
his venus squares my ASC/DSC axis and his sun squares my Vertex. I don't know if it would still be felt but his moon also squares my NN/SN axis with a wide orb .
The other one is a guy I have very strong feelings for, can't get out of my mind, but can not be with:
his mercury squares my ASC/DSC (though I believe a bit wider than 3° orb); his mars squares my MC/IC axis and his Venus, Moon and Pluto squares my NN/SN axis.

Opposition on one side are definitely potent since they are a conjunction to the other side of the axis.

Edit: And I've just looked at the synastry between me and family members, there are plenty of squares from personal planets to angles.

@ Ceri.. I can totally relate to hitting the angles being significant.

As you know (and everyone else.hehe) How much of an effect fishy has had on me..
He really hits my angles hard.
In my natal I have Saturn conjunct IC
So he's also hitting my Saturn.
Im stuck like glue.. He super glued my butt to him..

His merc conjunct my Asc (I have eros conjunct asc)
His Saturn conjunct my Dsc
His Neptune conjunct my MC

Dont fret he didnt leave my IC alone.
His NN and Saturn sq my IC/Saturn

His NN/Saturn in Virgo are right between my DSC/Vertex/Ceres/Psyche

As you know.. No one has ever had this much of an effect on me..

Dont worry.. I super glued his fins to the SMALL fish bowl, so he can swim but not far
