There is a very unusual dynamic in my relationship where I "know" my partner very well. I mean I know his likes/dislikes, I know how to push is buttons, I know and understand him intellectually as well as physically very well. I know how to read his moods to the point that I can tell how he's feeling by his texts. This is not a knowledge that I acquired but something that seems to have been there from the beginning. My question is about the kind of aspects that this would be symbolized by in synastry. My mercury conjuncts his moon and neptune in his 4th house, and his mercury opposes my moon, also falling in my 4th house. Would this mutual mercury/moon/4th house dynamic be the reason for this. Interestingly though, he does not know me as well as I know him-could that be the opposition between his mercury and my moon, as opposed to the conjunction between my mercury and his moon? Besides these, what other aspects could represent this kind of knowing? Thanks.

I think you are right on the money.

Mercury/Neptune itself means a great imagination leaning more towards the psychic realms in terms of the mind and mental capabilities. In a synastry chart, this could definitely play out as a connection where you sort of sense what is going on with them or "know" them very well. And I think his Moon to your Mercury supports this too, as the Moon would be his emotional needs. The 4th house is ruled by Cancer and represents the home life of the native and our instincts/foundation. You are very aware of his needs.
And finally, opposition does operate differently from conjunction. The opposition could indicate that he may find you hard to read.

I think you got it, I would need to see a synastry/composite to see anything else that explains it, but I think these are the main aspects you mentioned.

Lazyscarecrow,

What happens in this case:

Her mercury is semisquare his moon, but also they are in solstice points.
Is it thus difficult for her to understand him (semi square) , or, she gets him very well(at solstice points) ?
They also have Composite moon-mercury conjunction, but in square to Uranus.

In a composite, I think it would indicate that the emotions and intellect blend well together, or that you understand each other's emotions well, or that you find it easy to discuss your emotions...and I assume that that would manifest easiest in the houses indicated.
