Does this placement make someone naturally suspicious/paranoid or delusional? Like they always suspect that people are lying to them or betraying them when in fact this is not the case at all?IP: Logged |

This isn't necessarily true... To have the planet Mercury in the sign Scorpio does not make one automatically qualified for having immature Scorp characteristics in Mercurial areas. EX: I have Mercury Scorpio but my Saturn trine to it, combined with the 11th house placement, acceptance of others and different walks of life, makes me a very open person mentally and not very paranoid. BUT I will say that I am naturally more on the cautious side mentally, probably from the Saturn influence as well. I agree fully with ariesdragon. When Mercury has troubling aspects from Pluto, I could see more of an issue with suspicion and paranoia popping up at random times, in the natal chart but even more so with progressions. Especially if Uranus is involved. EX: Someone I know who exhibits signs of paranoid personality disorder has Cap Mercury in a tight square with Pluto. IP: Logged |

No, they aren't fully squared. I believe they are semi-sextile. Don't feel bad about asking!

I've known a few. My dad is great, although he does curse a lot, which can be funny though. The only thing that I don't like is that he can be really 'biting' with what he says when truly hurt or agitated. However, he's also the type who will apologize later and who will honestly feel bad if he knows that he's been out of line and hurtful, and he's sincere. He is an honest person, and he's the type that is there for you no matter what. He's a Sag sun, Taurus moon. Another one that I know is just outright mean to me. Don't even want to talk about that one. IP: Logged |

This is my favourite Mercury. I don't find them suspicious without due cause. I feel like Virgo Mercury is the suspicious and paranoid one lol But it could well be a synastry issue. My Mercury is opposite Virgo but trine Scorpio. What aspects do you have with his Merc? IP: Logged |

Semi-sextile? My Scorpio Mercury son (12) is a deep thinker, an "old soul." He catches onto things very fast and grasps the subtleties...VERY funny at times. He's not paranoid but has good hunches about who is doing what to his Lego sets.

I think so too! It's the only good thing I see about my Saturn placement most of the time. IP: Logged |

Oh, I must've meant semi-sextile. Looking back on the two signs, you are right, it wasn't a square... I'm sorry. That's really interesting about your son, He sounds like a classic Mercury Scorpio type. The hunches thing is so classic Scorpio. Old Souls are often found in very Scorpionic children, but also Saturnine kids. Does his Mercury make any aspects to Saturn? I'm guessing positive ones versus negative if any. IP: Logged |

It really depends on the people/situation.If I trust someone, I'm not usually paranoid or suspicious but I can have my "neurotic" moments. It used to be *very* bad, to the point where friendships were ruined because of my trust issues. It's better now, but whenever I get too close to someone I do get paranoid, still. In my case it's stronly related to my fears of betrayal and fear of being hurt/abandoned, because it happened to me quite a few times so naturally you get suspicious of people. Odd thing: my Mercury is unafflicted. The only aspects it makes is a conjunction to the Sun and a sextile to Chiron, and it's parallel Saturn. Just a thought: maybe Mercury's dispositor plays a role in this, too - where is Pluto and what aspects does it make? For ex, mine is in Scorpio squared by Saturn, so I think it adds to the suspicion/paranoia.

From my experience, these people are very perceptive. Nothing passes by them. They pick up on everything; tone, words, emotion. They have a detectives mind. I think they may even have a more critical eye than a Mercury in Virgo because of the extra sense when it comes to emotion they pick up in a persons speech. IP: Logged |
