How did you get started interested in Astrology and how old were you? How did you learn it? What astrology books and sources do you feel were instrumental in your learning? I don't know when I started but I never believed in the suns sign zodiac horoscopes in the magazines... I was very skeptic as a kid/teenager.. I did know about them and what they represented however... I read about them because I was curious. I got all my information from magazines horoscopes at first (pre-teen age) and then moved on to looking them up online.. I NEVER beleived it because I thought humans were more complex than that qualities and personality traits were too vague for each sign BUT as i got older I noticed that all gemini's I encountered acted the same.. and all sag's and all taureans.. etc that it made me less skeptic over the years as I meet and experienced different people. IMO people really act like their sun signs 80 percent of the time. I started to learn about the horoscope and the 12 planets when I was 20.. I read every Synastry with every person in my life, not just partners but friends too.. i learned that I could predict where the relationship was heading just by looking at the synastry..I would search aspects online and read them in books.. I started to see a pattern.. I would attract a lot of the same aspects.. like Sun square Saturn etc or Venus in 8th in the males chart...And always when there was NOT that much going on aspect wise in a synastry I knew that the relationship just won't last or that there isn't enough chemistry. ALWAYS been the case.. I noticed that i have the most aspects i've ever seen with my mom and father.. and less with my brother. So as time grew on I really feel Astrology is very valid and has been so accurate for me IP: Logged |

It all started one chilly November day when I read the birthday horoscope in the local papers. I was like, what, six at the time? Years later, I started checking the advice column based on signs. I met someone who was also into astrology and BAM! We got really into it and found out about natal charts and so on. IP: Logged |

I honestly can't remember. It was a few years ago, I think I was around 13. I probably got interested in astrology because I've always been a very introspective person. I wanted to find out more about myself, to understand myself and other people. Obviously synastry quickly caught my interest and I'm still fascinated by it. I've never read any astrology books, but I'd love to. All the info - I gathered on the internet, and from personal experience. I still have a lot to learn, though. I think astrology is a never-ending well of knowledge and you don't really come to a point where you're like "Wow, I've finally mastered *everything* !".

When I was about 13 and someone informed me I was a Leo instead of a Cancer. I was born on a cusp, so I wanted to research it more.IP: Logged |

Around 12/13. I was curious what all the signs meant and thought there must be more about astrology. Now I am 18 but compared to most of you my knowledge of astrology is quite superficial I guess .. IP: Logged |

I just started a few months ago. I read an article about elements attached to zodiac signs (fire, water, earth, air) and just decided to explore further because I was fascinated.IP: Logged |

i was around 13 years old. it just hit me one day that i wanted to read into what it meant to be a scorpio. i came across this site called the constellation chamber. too bad that it's been recently closed for a year or more for "reconstruction". i don't think that they'll be up and running again due to it being a collection of descriptions taken from other sites and books. there was a lot of information and i became obsessed for a while. i came across moons, decans, compatibility, etc. prior to finding astro.com, i had used astrolabe to calculate my first natal chart. everything else followed.. i wanted to know the meanings of each planet, aspects, houses, etc. the intensity of my researching has left me now that i am 20. i used to keep journals of my findings, kept references, wrote down questions and thoughts. i think that i threw them away in fear of my parents finding it as astrology did not sit well with their values, particularly their religious beliefs. in their mind, i might as well have studied satanic rituals if i was going to get into the occult. i've forgotten quite a bit as i had to make room for other things in my life, too. i'm pretty close to incapable of focusing on several things at once lol. I didn't believe in astrology as a child, didn't even kn0w my Sun Sign(I knew the chinese one because of my sch0ol magazine). Several m0nths after I had turned 15, I came across an article on Sun Signs, found it true and began lo0king for m0re articles, better articles. It was cafeastrology that introduced me to natal charts. Their orbits were wide and interpretati0ns un impressive and they even sounded like a fatalistic kn0w it all. This is when I decided to dig.Fr0m planetary aspects to planets in houses to house rulers, aspects they made and their placement. Next came midpoints and first meeting charts. I put the latter group away because I couldn't estabilish it's credibility(didn't have dates). Am0ng midpoints, I focused only on the Sun/M0on midpoint. Couldn't find c0nvincing descripti0ns and explanati0ns on how they functi0n in a natal chart but I've seen the Sun/M0on midpoint activated by a c0nj/opp/sq in every karmic/important/l0ngterm relati0nship I've had till date. Love entered and I turned to synastry(synastry aspects show up when you go0gle natal aspects). Works. C0mposite - rings true. Davis0n - didn't seem popular, caused a lot of c0nfusi0n, it's derivati0n failed before my glasses and the planetary aspects made n0 sense. 0n the other hand, Solar return charts were very accurate as l0ng as I didn't use my current locati0n. I next tried working with lunar return charts but s0on aband0ned them because I couldn't c0ncentrate on the rest. My virgo m0on doesn't like being thought of as a jack of all trades and master of n0ne. Love kn0cked again. This time I was desperate to kn0w if the guy really liked me or n0t. Oracle readings, tarot readings...I got them d0ne but believed in n0ne because it was a c0mputer predicting. Eureka m0ment - horary. Asked questi0n after questi0n, violated rule after rule and misread answer after answer. It introduced me to traditi0nal astrology which I didn't like much initially. When l0ve exited fr0m the back do0r, I decided to ask the experts if we would patch up and was disappointed. I chose to believe in free will over fate and prayer fr0m the heart over words set in st0ne. But I was wr0ng and they were right. That was it. Hail horary! Hail traditi0n! Hail fate! I became engrossed in william lilly's and Frawley's bo0ks, interpreted charts in my head and recently graduated fr0m the beginner level to intermediary level. In between, I tried educating myself about asteroids on lindaland but n0thing proved right and the entire soul mate theory s0unded like figment of a creative mind. Sources, research material; how many years of study... I knew n0thing but I do lo0k at Juno and Chiron. I'm following primary progressi0ns and transits these days. Mercury retro in my 7th - buried 3 earph0nes in a week's time. Jupiter enters Gem - hospitalized, lost weight, metabolism n0rmalized. When prog Sun was at 29 sag - identity crisis. Prog Mars at 29 sag - anger unleashed. (I used to be a docile thing.) Till a few weeks back, I thought I was a cap asc. Had my chart rectified using solar arcs and I turned out to be an early aqua asc which explains why I attract trucks full of leos and aquas. I still lo0k for scientific explanati0ns that validate astrology and found one that based it's theory on neutrin0s. I'm n0t entirely c0nvinced with the theory but I can't reject it as B.S. either. At the age of 16 exactly. It was a self serving way of passing the time. I started taking it more seriously when I started questioning exactly who I am and what makes me tick, so to speak. I started reading up on signs, then bought an aspect book. Had a site draw up my chart, and continued from there. IP: Logged |

Hahaha. I was always aware of Leo traits. I believed those but didn't really follow horoscopes. Actually no, when I was 14 I would check astrology.com horoscopes and always read "extended" ones and ones with love etc. it wasnt until a year and a half ago I got really into it. I googled "how to win a Taurus back" hahaha. Then read Leo and Taurus compatability. Eventually I stumbled upon Sun Signs by Linda Goodman online. She mentioned a Scorpio Ascendant in the description which made me look into ascendants. Eventually I was hitting up cafeastrology.com all the time to look at placements. Next I finally made me way to astro and began reading charts like that. Cafeastrology was a good site to learn from because it gets you interested with the generated descriptions right away with the birth charts. I also really liked looking at the compatibility generators there too. I always had fun with my friends with that. Anyways. That's how I started getting into it and the rest is history. Yup, my story IP: Logged |

Born into it.. My mom practiced from when I was very young and I remember sitting around the coffee table doing numerology when I was about 7 as well. So I was around that stuff all the time... I did give it up for a good 13 years and have just recently allowed myself to return.IP: Logged |

Been into it as long as I can remember..I remember getting tiny little astrology sun sign books when I was very young, for xmas/bday presents..but I really got into the details in high school (astro charts, reading other planets in signs) and I got really into studying it and taking it very seriously in 2007 when I fell in love with someone strange and desperately wanted to know why. So it was in Oct. 2007 when I really started taking it to heart. IP: Logged |

I liked reading the sun sign astrology since I was probably 12 or 13, but like most people I thought it was pretty superficial and didn't realize how deep or complex it actually is. Then my first year of college I had a roommate who was into it slightly deeper and it got me interested. I looked into other stuff too like Mayan astrology and numerology, but there's definitely the most information on the internet about Western astrology, and slowly I started learning more about how in depth it is with rising and moon signs etc. Also, if anyone has seen the original movie "Zeitgeist", this is what really got me interested in astrology, learning that a huge number of religions throughout the world including Christianity share a very common story (a virgin birth, 3 wise men, a savior that dies and then is resurrected 3 days later) all originate from a "pagan" religion based on astrology and this common story lines up with the winter and spring solstices. Then last year I went to Europe with my family, and we went to this very old temple in France, (obviously Catholic or Christian), and I was amazed to see carvings of all the astrology signs/symbols, and other astrology related things all over the temple. Since I have the pictures on my computer I'm just gonna post a few here incaseanyone is interested lol because I was amazed being from a conservative Christian family, that it didn't even seem to phase anyone. http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/r604/Addie009/147.jpg http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/r604/Addie009/144.jpg http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/r604/Addie009/136.jpg http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/r604/Addie009/133.jpg Anyway, since then I've been hooked lol, and I honestly wish I would have gotten into astrology earilier.... I fell into because of fishy.. I was trying to understand all the feelings I was having which didn't make any sense to me at all... I was desperately searching for answers and fell onto café astrology.. First I did the natal chart reading and was amazed at how accurate it was, especially those things you don't tell anyone, but there it was in black and white.. I've been learning by searches and asking questions and lots and lots of reading.. I have learned alot here on LL..IP: Logged |

I was 5 or 6, and my family was invited to dinner at our neighbor's house. The hostess asked each of us children when our birthday is, and she was talking all about our sun signs. I was like, "Capricorn? What is that? I don't like that word, it sounds like 'corn' or 'corny.'" Regardless, I always followed sun signs after that, always looked for horoscopes, listened for people talking about it...then buying books around age 13, just like others here. I tinkered with natal charts just a little bit in college. I'm bad with languages and considered astrology something like a foreign language with all its new vocabulary and weird symbols...so I was daunted by it. (Which seems funny to me now.) I got really into Gary Goldschneider's Secret Language books several years ago, he breaks the zodiac down into 48 signs which I am now very familiar with. This helps me guess birthdays pretty well. Now I incorporate his insights into regular chart reading, which I only figured out about a year and a half ago.

All I remember is being about 5 years old at the dinner table and asking my mum "what Indian thingy am I again?" She said "what?" I said "you know the sign thing, the Indian sign". Eventually she figured out what I was asking and said "Libra". I have no idea what started my interest before that, or how I even knew I was 'a sign'. But I never remember astrology not being part of my life.IP: Logged |
