Well, yes I understand that my Capricorn Ascendent shapes my outer identity to the world. I've come to understand first house planets and aspects on the Ascendent, but while searching I've always wondered if the sign had any influence in the shaping of your outer identity as well?

Since there are Capricorn Ascendents with Saturn in Capricorn or Saturn in Sagittarius do they present themselves differently than a Saturn in Aquarius?

I have a friend with Saturn in Capricorn and Capricorn Rising and she has Venus, Mars, and Mercury in Virgo trine the Ascendent in a later degree than me.

I have the same Ascendent in Saturn in Aquarius with the Sun, Venus, and possibly Mars making aspects to it in an earlier degree.

General consensus states that we both outwardly appear reserved and serious, yet people have picked up on how relaxed I am and when we are together people have stated it appears easier to approach me than her and on the other hand they say the trust her more with important information than me, because I don't appear nearly as serious as she does if that makes sense.

I guess there is still a lot for me to probe and learn though, but I'm trying my best to understand.

Okay this is a lot more easier to digest than what the astrology books say. I can agree to this.

The one's I've checked out start with the ascendent, "This how you appear to other people" or "This is how others see you". So it confused me a bit.

Oh there is so much to put together and learn, you guys make it look so easy like cookies and cream XD. I thought I was really on to something here lol.

Back to the drawing board and I want to thank those for their contribution in this thread.

Which is also true,they see you,how you look like; but there is more to Asc
That story how Asc is a "mask" has been cruelly drawn out of context and has grown to monstrous,wrong dimensions :

Probably more concerned with feeling the right way or appropriately, while Moon in leo would be more about expressing one`s own identity and creativity just because - no reason really. Just because that is how you feel alive.
Moon in Leo is certainly more expressive than Moon in Capricorn at least on first glance.

EDIT:
If your Moon is in 1st house it of course also means that your emotions are pretty close to the surface; this might make you very sensitive and receptive.
