Topic: Venus and Mars (natal): tug of war

How does your mars and venus work together? Is it harmonious or does it feel like a tug of war between the two?
I've noticed that I get easily distracted. Or lets say im working steadily for a couple months then all of a sudden i get out of the 'work zone' when fun creeps into my life. It seems like i CANT have fun AND work. Neither can exist at the same time for me or else the fun always takes over and i can't recover like most people do. It's like the taste of fun was just too potent and i get this apathy towards work. I become resentful of studying doing homework and my groove gets thrown off by the fun and i start failing my classes. I can't find a balance between the two. And it struck me that perhaps this was my venus and mars at play. I have a cap venus and a sag mars. Those are two completely different energies and i'm wondering can they be causing all this clashing within? Not only with work but other things its like this. I want to do this but then something inside holds me back and i become bitter. I try to have fun but i ruin it.
My mars and venus don't have any aspect between them though. My mars is a loner and my venus is retro next to the sun.
So what do ya think? Could these two be the cause of this feeling of imbalance?

can't really say if your venus and mars are the culprit. i would take into account your mercury and its aspects since it rules the mental faculties. it seems that you have a really restless nature. should probably consider uranus as well. it is the higher octave of mercury. an overview of your natal chart would provide better insight, tbh.my girlfriend has a sagittarius mars as well. it is conjunct her sun and merc in sag. it's so hard to do study sessions with her lol. my mars and venus are semi-squared. i don't really feel the effects. quote:

and im a cap sun btw
my merc in conj nept and uranus each by 3 deg also in cap of course.

i meant that i don't feel the effects of my venus and mars aspect in the sense that you are describing.i do feel out of balance in the sense that my masculinity tends to be scrutinized in one way or another. that i come off too this or too that. i've just adopted a idgaf attitude towards it and be myself. works better that way anyways. Mine are trine.. It's truly easy and harmonious..
But it is still problematic because I am surrounded by people who are not nearly as happy or comfortable on this level - and this makes things difficult.
People with the square can be too much for me.. I really don't feel comfortable around those who have very negative views regarding romance & the opposite sex.IP: Logged |

well! because thats how i usually feel liek this imbalance and nothing else in my chart seems to fit me well or explain anything. And i suppose also, that capricorn is about doing things and whatever work related and then i've got this sag mars running loose and mars is responsible for action. Maybe its not necessarily my venus then but all the capricorn in me against my mars? i suppose thats how i'm trying to rationalise all this IP: Logged |

ahh i've never really looked into transits but this has been for like ever! lol
not just a momentary thing for me. mostly my whole life its felt like push and pull.
and my mars is in my 3rd but what do 10th and 3rd houses have to do with it????

Very harmonious. I have Venus trine Mars, trine at 1 degree applying. It is my tightest orb. I've always felt very comfortable with both the masculine and feminine, and can easily combine the two in my own personality. IP: Logged |

Sorry to be so vague I am still in bed so I am just being a bit lazy The 3rd house as its natural ruler in Gemini, Mercury. This relates to the mind, intellect and communication. I say check out the 10th, Capricorn, Saturn as the 10th relates to work and career. Keywords here are focus, consistency, limitations, work..... There must be a sensitive point in your chart. I doubt this kind of thing relates to Venus and Mars aspects. You have Scorpio Moon also? What house? Actually something just dawned on me..Having strong Scorpio and Pluto energies in my chart, I tend to have that typical quality of one extreme to the other, black and white, yes or no. There is never a grey area. Now I am waking up (and sitting up) I think we have a similar issue as you.
I am the kind of person who enjoys doing what I want to do, in my own time rather than what I have to do or that I am conformed to do. When I have work/study to do I can not engage in anything recreational without feeling guilty nor can I function on just having fun. So I can never have that balance of the two.
It's kinda one or the other. Sometimes I can't enjoy neither one because I am missing either one or the other, yet I have a hard time integrating the two. I am learning to do this and look at the big picture too much or it's just overload for me. Balance is key x I have Venus 8H trine Mars 12H

my moon is in the 2nd and its sextile saturn
i don't see how the moon can cause this. Maybe it is an emotional thing thoughh. because i cant do things because i FEEL a certain way. Like if im mad about it or the fun throwing me off from work thats a 'feeling' problem...bleeeh! that means i'm ruled by my emotions  IP: Logged |

The Moon is the self and represents our emotions, the inner core of our being therefore it will play a major role subconsciously. Everyone is ruled by their emotions somehow it's natural.

My venus and mars d0n't aspect each other. But both are in Sag and I feel n0 disharm0ny. I can work and have fun. Work itself is fun. I d0n't believe in doing s0mething I d0n't enjoy doing. I love studying! H0mework? I rarely do it or I make people do it for me. I've never liked a guy m0re than work. My career c0mes first, 10h venus.A 7h/5h venus and m0on place a lot of value on relati0nships. Or maybe a venus/pluto, 7h ruler/pluto, m0on/pluto aspect with an empty 10h, 6h, 2h, 9h or 3h and lack of saturn aspects. Venus/m0on/7h ruler in the 8th with the rest of the chart showing n0 focus on work.

I can somehow relate. I will put a huge emphasis on work for many months, usually because there is some goal I have to reach. The fear of guilt for not doing my very best and then blaming it on myself is so strong that I will put aside everything else than doesn't serve the purpose. But then, I only manage to do so when the outcome is VERY important. Once it' over or when I'm in a somewhat more comfortable position (where I know I don't have to work as hard), I can't concentrate and focus on work and always find myself sucked into some "fun" (from other's point of view because to me it is more like an inner restlessness). It is also a huge issue for me because I find myself either choosing between being very sociable, going out, meeting people, travelling etc.. or being alone and work. I CAN'T seem to find the right balance between the two! And being at one or the other extreme always makes me deeply unsatisfied.
At one I had thought it was a capricorn dilemma but I'm not really sure about this neither.
My 7th house aquarius venus is retro and sextiles (2°) my 5th house sag mars.
Uranus conjucnt sun in the 6th and opposed jupiter
