I'm studying midpoints and learning about the importance of Mars-Pluto. The combination of these two planets create intensity, obsession, and an extreme ability to regenerate, kick ass, and make a difference. But the danger is taking things much to seriously, and acting on obsession and compulsions that can cause sparks you don't need.

I personally have this Midpoint conjunct my Midheaven. I want to transform with my words [Virgo] and create a huge difference in my profession, and my compulsive need to BE somebody has caused me grief at times, but it has set me way apart from the more listless or unguided people of my generation.

So, where is your Mars-Pluto midpoint? Is it touching an angle, or a personal planet, or is it making contacts you feel are important? How does it help you feel strong and also, weak to obsession? Below are resources to calculate and info on what this MP touching a planet/angle means for you.

Cool. thanks for mentioning this mid-point combo. I had attributed a lot of those feelings to Venus in Scorpio, but they always felt more personal and involved than Venus in Scorpio alone.

It just so happens my Mars-Pluto Midpoint is conjunct my Moon.....But wait, there's more! Mars is also conjunct my Moon-Jupiter Midpoint and Pluto/NN is conjunct my Moon-Uranus Midpoint. This is what the site says.:

=)

Moon/Jupiter Midpoint with Mars:

"Principle: A wealth and richness of feeling. The tendency to go to emotional excesses. To be accepting of all emotions. A willingness to share feelings and the encouraging of others to share theirs. The emotional need to connect with one’s spiritual self. Feeling overwhelmed by too many impressions and/or vulnerable to too many things.

Process: Accepting and learning from all one’s emotions. Reaching out to others on a feeling level in an increasingly rich and connected way

Mars: In expressing anger one may be excessively emotional. Asserting oneself with a wealth of feeling. The person is at their best when they act at a time that feels right to do so."

Beyond anger, all the things mentioned in the "Principle" section, drive me through life.

Moon/Uranus Midpoint with Pluto/NN:

"Principle: Sudden changes of feeling, occurring because of the person needing to clear the emotional body. Odd, unusual, strange emotional states and/or unexpected reactions to experiences. The ability to perceive things that others do not perceive. Upsets with one’s security. One finds security through freedom. The emotional need for independence and to be able to pursue one’s own unique goals.

Process: The ability to perceive one’s own independent emotions as being separate from the feelings of others. Freely sharing one’s feelings. Liberation from attachments that are no longer needed.

Pluto: To war with one’s own subconscious, in that one tries to control or repress or ignore it’s contents, but it retaliates by relentlessly pursuing one.

Node: To seek out people who will allow one to express one’s emotions freely. The need to grow in one’s ability to to be uninhibited and spontaneously expressive."

I can see these descriptions applying to my young life, but I reap the benefit from learning from this lesson, more than I struggle with it.

Mars/Pluto Midpoint with Moon:

"Principle: Intense aggression that may even be overpowering, or obsessive. The ability to get an extreme amount of work accomplished. Doing things that affect the whole world, or at least a great number of people. The desire to work toward a breakthrough. Domination of others, or running over them in an uncaring fashion. Extreme violence or brutality.

Process: The intensification of one’s actions so that one may perceive both their constructive and destructive aspects. The realization of one’s power to effect deep and profound changes.

Moon: One’s insecurities are compensated for through hard and/or obsessive work. To express emotions with extreme aggression or passion."

I guess by the time one reaches 35 a lot of these lessons are learned. I have been lucky (or cursed) to have Pluto transit my Uranus, Venus, Ceres, Sun, Neptune, and Mercury so far. By the end of my life it could have further transited my MC, SN, Eris, Asc, and maybe Chiron. All those transits were fundamentally transforming (just a big box of horrible lol) and perhaps resulted in drawing the usefulness out of some of these more chaotic sounding midpoints.

Thanks again for creating this thread, it has been enlightening for me.

My mars-pluto midpoint is 9 degrees 51 Aquarius/Leo. Its conjunct my MC and North Node opposite my Mercury. I can become really intense about my future and career goals and this odd 10 year plan I had for myself.

I can imagine that Saturn definitely grounds your Mars-Pluto midpoint from becoming too out of control in your life. I'd consider this a pretty fortunate placement!

Saturn could reign in the out-of-control obsession of this MP. Usually when I think Saturn I can see too much dedication or focus on something it touches, but in this instance I think it would focus on controlling the obsessions-compulsions which is a major plus.

@Xiiro, you're welcome! I'm really fascinated by Midpoints lately so I'm happy to share. I feel they're more important than we realize in astrology.

I am just like you - I contributed my own intensity to having many astral bodies and personal planets in Scorpio. Then I found out that a lot of my intense MP's are on my personal planets, like Sun-Pluto on my Scorp Mercury for example. I can definitely see how having this Midpoint on your Moon could make you VERY emotionally intense... almost like a Hades' Moon person and how they function! I'm glad this was a help to you.

High five to a fellow Mars-Pluto MP-Midheaven person!

This is so true to how this MP functions on the MC Ail221. I can definitely see how having it on your NN also made you have an intense 10 year plan for yourself. Personally since I have 12H Pluto and Mars in Cancer my intensity can be slightly sporadic and more emotional, but still extremely transformative. Both planets make a sextile to my MC also.

Yes I definitely feel the need to transform constantly Pluto in Scorpio 6th house and Mars in Taurus 12th house both square MC and Mars square NN. I personally have a problem with authority in the workplace. After a while I begin to notice things about my workplaces and try to transform them which causes conflict. This with my natual cardinal nature makes things difficult. LOL I just wanted to start a recycling program at my job really how difficult is that.

My Mars/Pluto midpoint is at 9 deg Virgo which is exactly where my Venus is.

I have a midpoints book that says that Jimmy Hoffa also has that midpoint configuration - That's a very strange example. If Mars & Pluto combined mean "intensity, obsession and extreme ability to regenerate..." then having Venus there, I think, makes one appear that way to everyone.

Otherwise, I don't exactly know how to interpret that midpoint picture.

my Mars/Pluto-mp is 7°07 Scorpio, exactly opposite my Eros/psyche-mp.

It doesn`t have tight conjunctions, squares, oppositions, semisquares or sesisquare within midpoint orb to my planets.

However occassionally it pops up in synastries.

Well, for midpoints only hard aspects (conjunction, squares, opposition, occasionally semisquare and sesisquare) are being considered - except for Magi astrology.
(the reason for this is that the midpoint relates to the point where two energies potentially merge and you need a strong trigger to activate this. Activation-aspecrts are always the hard ones).

Oh and the orb is about 1° up to 2° most.

I have natal MC squaring my Mars/PLuto midpoint at 0.1 degree.
Ebertin:.. "Putting a pistol on someone's head"

I always attributed that feeling to my natal tight Mars- Saturn square, but i see now this midpoint has a lot to do with it.

Mars/Pluto midpoint at 17 degrees Scorpio in the the 4th House.

It's at a 6 degree wide conjunction with the IC, sextiles my Sun and square Ascendant.

Mars and Pluto are already in Scorpio, so it's no difference for me, except Mars is in the 3rd House and Pluto in the 4th House. Mars was already conjunct the IC within a 5 degree orb. Pluto was also already square my Ascendant, but with a wide 8 degree orb.

I'm not going to list all the other aspects it makes.

I haven't paid to much attention to the mid points....but this seems to be important...my Pluto/Mars mid point is exactly square my NN.
iQ says this is a very important place in a chart because it's something you didn't finish...
My Mars/Jupiter midpoint sits on my SN exact also!!!

Any thoughts on what this could mean?

My Mars/Pluto midpoint is conjunct my Sun (they form a T-square too). I'm not sure how to interpret the aspect other than I'm very ambitious and wish to achieve great success.

Edit: The John Sandbach interpretation seems correct.
