I have a question for those who have the moon in 3rd house(not those with moon in Gemini as I find the two placemnts, though similar in descriptions, very different in real life)

I am moving house, for the umpteenth time, and have read many descriptions that tell of a moon in 3rd having "itchy feet" or not being able to stay in one place for a long time.

Be that as it may, I have found that this position is a hand full at times. I rarely cncentrate long enough to have anything done! My attention span is so small that I feel "scattered".

What I wanted to know is; how do you deal with this position? Are you just as restless and wanderlust as I am? And how do you go about accomplishing anything?

Add to that, my Mercury is in the 9th(opposing it) and Marsin 6th(squaring it). So much mutable energy and nothing to show for it.

I have my moon in Leo the 3rd house and I am pretty much the same way. I love to travel and do things spontaneously but I have trouble disciplining myself and getting things done. I haven't been able to travel in a long time and it's definitely something that is hard for me but I'm trying to accept that there will be a time for that in the future. whenever I don't travel for a while I begin to feel a little lifeless.

Right now though, I am spending my time learning how to be disciplined and I've decided that I'm not budging until I do! There's really not set way to go about it, I think making lists and sticking to them has worked for me. Also, if you have a project you are working on I have found that it's easier to work on it away from home. At least for me... I can't concentrate whenever I am home, especially in my room, forget it!

Tell yourself that you can do it! Don't give up. You can overcome any tendencies in your chart if you want to badly enough and if you work hard enough at it. The things in your chart aren't what your destined to live with forever, they are the things that make up the raw material you have to work with. The power is in your hands

I've always had a travel bug. When I was 18 I saved all my money and traveled to Spain by myself for 4 months. I have Pisces Moon in the 3 rd square Jupiter.

I also like to move around a lot because I get sick of my immediate environment. The things that have really helped me not want to move as much is obligations like work or school but right now I'm done wih both. I can't afford to travel out of the country but I will be going on many backpacking trips!

I'll agree with the travel bit (Moon in Sag in the 3rd)...but I disagree with the rest. When I was younger I was very much eager to travel about...and then I did, for a year to the day. Now, while I still very much enjoy travelling, I'm okay with having a "home base" of sorts, whereas before I was sort of nomadic. I'm also capable of focusing without too much effort, but perhaps this is due to the placement of Mercury (my chart ruler) in Taurus (8th house)?

I feel like this placement makes me somewhat more emotionally...impetuous than I might otherwise be (sort of heart-on-my-sleeve/can't-hide-my-feelings type), but other than that I don't think I take much note of it. My moon's only aspect is a square to Venus in Pisces (6th house).

My moon is in Scorpio in the 3rd. Honestly, I think having a lot of Earth in my chart has made me able to settle. My Taurus Sun is in the 9th, and while I love and yearn to travel, I just don't have the means for that. So I stick to looking at pictures and wishing I was there. I do definitely love to explore town.

Like Luminosity said! I'm a college student and I tend to go to the Library or other places on campus to focus on my schoolwork/projects.

I have the Moon in Pisces in the 3rd, making stressful aspects to Sun/Neptune/Saturn. I love travel but also want my home base, to recharge and nest. I do get flightly & want to flee to new horizons every now and then.

I have been paying a home mortgage for the last few years, and love my spacious nest. But sometimes I miss the freedom of an apartment, as its easy to move out while selling or renting a house is not. Still not sure if eventually will rent the house & explore the country lol.

I do get distracted/bored easily, and boy do I fidget. Have this habit of swinging my leg when sitting or playing w my hair. So tough to curb during long and boring meetings. Im not keen on details at all, have to make myself be more mindful of them all the time.

That said, I am pretty responsible as dislike feeling stressed. Keeping lists & tasks on my e calendars works great as does setting deadlines for myself. I like to just get boring stuff done with and then be free for fun stuff like a total Archer, I live for the fun stuff

Thanks everyone for your responses.

Some made me giggle and think “that’s me”. Others made go “hmm, I can do that.”
I yearn to travel and do the whole “eat, pray, love” thing however; I have differing countries for each. Lol
I think the one thing that I can take away from having the moon in 3rd is that it gives you a lot of options and the ability to be flexible. In a world that is obsessed with accomplishments and getting things “done”, somehow I feel “out of whack” when all I’ve done seems scattered in some momentary ventures. I really feel like this moon not only affects my professional life but my personal life also. I don’t have romantic relationships that last.

There was this beautiful song by Dido, years ago, that seemed to encapsulate what the moon in 3rd house was all about:

I haven't ever really found a place that I call home
I never stick around quite long enough to make it
I apologize once again I'm not in love
But it's not as if I mind
that your heart ain't exactly breaking

It's just a thought, only a thought

But if my life is for rent and I don't learn to buy
Well I deserve nothing more than I get
Cos nothing I have is truly mine

I've always thought
that I would love to live by the sea
To travel the world alone
and live more simply
I have no idea what's happened to that dream
Cos there's really nothing left here to stop me

It's just a thought, only a thought

But if my life is for rent and I don't learn to buy
Well I deserve nothing more than I get
Cos nothing I have is truly mine

If my life is for rent and I don't learn to buy
Well I deserve nothing more than I get
Cos nothing I have is truly mine

While my heart is a shield and I won't let it down
While I am so afraid to fail so I won't even try
Well how can I say I'm alive

If my life is for rent and I don't learn to buy
Well I deserve nothing more than I get
Cos nothing I have is truly mine

If my life is for rent and I don't learn to buy
Well I deserve nothing more than I get
Cos nothing I have is truly mine
Cos nothing I have is truly mine
Cos nothing I have is truly mine
Cos nothing I have is truly mine

Coz I really don’t want to “own” anything, I just want the experience of it. I don’t want to be settled in the “maintenance”, “keeping” or “hoarding” of anything. The idea is to experience whatever it is that I want to experience and then let it go.

Even my flat, by its furnishings, is spacious and allows for free movement. I have just the necessities and the only “clutter” is books; mostly travel stuff, esoteric religion and “the power of the mind” stuff. I rarely watch TV; am too restless and end up spending more time switching channels than watching one specific program.

"I'm just looking, Im not buying. I'm just looking, keeps me smiling!"

I have cancer moon in 3H and i moved alot when i was younger the longest i stayed in one aprtment on my own was 4 yrs. But i kinda attributed that to living the college life... Never thought about looking deeper into it. Because my first instinct is to make my home as comfortable as possible asap. And once iam comfortable its hard for me to budge... Plus i think iam slowly starting to turn into a horder, i didnt realize i could accumulate so much stuff in so little time...!!!

My attention span is short too lol its gotten better over the years tho... More stable and less sugar rush my feelings stir my attention... So the closer something hits to my heart the longer my focus...

I like to travel, but prefer weekend or one week vacays. BUT After a day or two away, i am anxious to get back to my familiar surroundings. My own comfy bed.

I found this on cafeastrology:

quote:
Your opinions and ideas change often, and you might find that sometimes you adopt others' points of view and express their ideas as if they were your own. This is not necessarily because you are a copy-cat, but because you sometimes fail to own your own thoughts, and you are so very sensitive to others' opinions. You might be quite nervous and restless, requiring frequent changes of scenery, even if the movement or travel takes place locally.

This is spot on for me. I think having a mutable water sign like - Pisces as a Moon sign makes me very sensitive to my environment I pick up "vibes" really easily and can get irritated and in a bad mood when I'm in a bad place or feel bad vibes. Pisces Moon in the 3rd is literally a sponge of their immediate environment.

Also when I talk to people I sometimes get so overwhelmed by their opinions that I tend to agree with them out of nervousness and end up adopting or agreeing with things that - when later in a better space realizing - wait a minute? I don't agree with that!

What do you think Phoneix fire? Your also a Pisces Moon in the 3rd.

I like my moon in 3rd house. Yes, I am restless and can't stand routine for too long. I would love to travel. How do I accomplish anything before my mind starts to wander? Usually I make a list either on paper or in my head. Then force myself to work ASAP. Music is a huge distraction for me lol!

The new post on this topic has prompted me to ask anotehr question; are your feelings sustainble? What I mean is; do you find it difficult to keep being in love with someone?"

I definately don't want to be branded the "love em and leave em" type, but my eye does wander. I like pursuing new things, and if they settle, get bored and want to start afresh with something else.

Like right now, I am having a relationship wit someone (Leo) who is involved with someone else(Leo). I do like the fact that this affir has an adrelanin rush to it; stolen moments, not knowing when and if the other party knows about us, keeping things under the carpet etc.

But lately, I have not been feeling that much excitement anymore and when they dropped me, once again, I felt really bad. Now this is growth yes? Perhaps a part of me would like this Leo to myself . But then , the other side, says that I don't want to break up a "steady something" for a "definite maybe".

I change my mind quite often

My moon is in my 3rd house....almost forgot to mention that part...I love to travel and I like having room to move in my environment, I hate being crowded by "things" and "stuff". My moon is in Virgo oddly enough, but I'm still a space cadet. Ha ha! But it squares Neptune and is sextile Uranus. I guess my poor Virgo moon doesn't stand a chance does it. :-p

I can relate to almost everything everyone is saying here. :-)

No, I stay in love when I fall in love with a few exceptions. I also tend to change my mind a lot as well though, so I have to be sure I'm compatible with someone before I allow that love to develop because peoples behavior affects me considerably in close relationships. I Maybe moon in 3rd people are more sensitive to changes in our relationships with others? Maybe we live in the moment based on what we feel at that time and based on the feeling the experience with a person or circumstance gives us? I'm not saying moon in 3rd people are shallow or fickle, I think we just know how we feel at that moment but feeling sometimes fluctuates because the moon does. However, stepping away and doing something different and then going back to it can sometimes result in the same or similar experience as before. ....Just some food for thought.

I also pick up "vibes" off people, things etc and can sense others emotions... I'm sorry for all the typing...
