You might embody what he is subconsciously attracted to. Might hit him like a bolt out of the blue; though of course the other aspects have to be considered as well.

Hi Vickymadness,

The Vertex is part of an axis like the Asc/Dsc, the Mc/Ic, or the nodes. If your Sun is opposite someone else’s Vertex then it is automatically conjunct their Antivertex. So it’s no more ‘bad’ to have a Vertex opposition then it is to have an Asc opposition (which is also a conjunction to the Dsc).

I’ve noticed that the Vertex seems to represent impressions that stick in our mind and linger, what fascinates us, and what people (synastry) and events (transits) bring about significant life changes for us. The Vertex also seems to have an ‘electric’ spark to it…. A eureka! type quality. New possibilities are brought to light, we make startling discoveries, and a whole new path seems to open up during Vertex relationships and transits.

Conjunctions and oppositions to the Vertex are usually a positive sign. The Vertex is able to recognize the Sun person as interesting, unique, and special. Something about the Sun person will stand out in the Vertex person’s mind as being profoundly relevant for them… As if the Sun lights up some personal ideal that the Vertex person already has, or discovers because of the Sun person. The Sun person is able to trigger a sense of meaning or destiny for the Vertex person, and may inspire the Vertex person to change their circumstances or perspective. The Sun person may be an interesting learning experience for the Vertex person (good or bad depending on the rest of the synastry), who is often captivated by them. This aspect tends to give a relationship crazy coincidences, and synchronicity. As if there is something fateful at work. The Vertex person’s style of perception, and the things they notice, will resonate with the Sun person’s sense of individuality, and priorities. The Sun person my appreciate how the Vertex person pays attention to them, and the things they take pride in, and deem important about themselves. The Sun may feel that the Vertex person ‘gets’ them at a much deeper way then most are capable of. As if the Vertex person really seems to understand what the Sun person is about at their heartfelt core. And if the rest of the synastry is positive, the Sun person will love how the Vertex person makes them feel important, noticed, interesting and wanted.

I feel I have to put in a disclaimer here about the rest of the synastry. If the overall synastry is not supportive and there are Vertex connections, Vertex connections can become not so nice. As I said before, the Vertex rules what sticks in our minds, fascinates us, and makes a deep impression. So in some situations the Vertex can actually refer to unhealthy obsessions, holding a grudge over something for too long, having personal vendettas against someone over trivial differences of opinion, or taking things that others might do too seriously. If a Vertex connection becomes too negative we may need to work on forgiveness and letting go with regard to that person. Sometimes having Vertex connections with someone can mean learning a hard lesson that does not become clear until the issue has long passed. And we need to learn to be at peace with whatever happened.

Friendships with Vertex connections are usually very informative and helpful in terms of giving each other guidance and direction. By itself Vertex connections are not always romantic. But when Vertex connections are combined with romantic synastry the results are a sort of ‘unforgettable romance’ type scenario. The person who has their Vertex aspected may develop an infatuated, enthralled, even obsessive attitude in the relationship. This is because they feel the planet person inspires them toward some new direction, or purpose. The planet person is usually able to sense that they represent something significant for the Vertex person, and that they are a point of focus for them. This can be good or bad depending on other factors.

I think it's a positive sign if you both have your Vertexs aspected in the relationship. Sometimes it can be one sided if only one person has their Vertex aspected. Mutual Vertex aspects tend to bring mutual fascination and interest in each other.

I think this is true. It’s like aspects to the Vertex can make you aware of things you may not have even realized that you wanted until you’re confronted with them. Vertex connections are not always romantic but it sure doesn’t take much to set them off in that way either…. They are definitely highly flammable.

Love your reply. Actually was counting on you to comment.

How about Sun square Vertex? Is it similiar or how does it differ from the conjunction?
I find the square to an axis most intriguing, as it is on the midpoint of the axis itself. How do you think does this make itself felt?

This is very true.

This guy only has a pretty wideorbed aspect to my Vertex (you know the synastry ) by his Venus.

actually I looked more closely

my Vertex opposite his Venus: 4°26
(his Venus sits on my Moon/Venus-mp, too)

my Vertex square his Pluto: 0°06

my Vertex trine his Uranus: 1°55

(and since my Sun/Moon-mp is conjunct my AVX, it is triggered as well).

So it means that the guys natal Venus-Pluto-square (mirroring my own, and actually he even has Vertex conjunct Saturn, like I do, natally as well), is triggering my Vertex-axis.

When I met him some years ago it was like being hit by a highspeed train. And everytime I am in physical proximity I can feel that electric cord again, and it "does" something to me, internally, personally, even though, there is no romance.

Well, he is a performer, yet he seems to remember me as well and seems to always spot me when I am in the audience somewhere. It`s like he KNOWS where I am sitting.
(of course i could fantasize this, but actually other people noticed that, too, and well, last time after the first incidental glance at me, he was actually turning back around and looked at me again. lol).

His Vertex squares my Sun: 1°46
His Vertex squares my Mercury: 2°39

Like in my natal chart his Vertex is tied to his Sun/Moon-mp, as they are square by 0°05, and my Sun is actually conjunct his Sun/Moon-mp (as well as his Sun and Moon).

Maybe that is the reason that I so often feel he "sees" me.

Edit:
His Vertex is in his own 7th house (conj. DESC) and in my 9th house.

my Vertex is in my own 8th house and in his 5th house.

Hi Ceri,

I think the highspeed train analysis is very fitting for hard Vertex aspects. They are like a dramatic Pow! Bam! in how they impact our psyche when we come into contact with such persons. Something about that person stands out to us in a direct way. I’ve noticed soft aspects to the Vertex Axis are valid as well but they are more subtle, more like a gentle slide into our awareness.

I’ve also noticed the it’s quite common for someone that we find fascinating to mirror our Vertex Axis. Like if you had a Leo/Aqua Vertex Axis the person in question may have an opposition involving these signs in their chart, or have these signs on the Mc/Ic or Asc/Dsc Axis. Or if you had Saturn on either end of the Vertex Axis, the person in question may have Saturn hard aspects in their chart, or Saturn conjunct an angle. It’s also common for one of the signs on either end of the Vertex Axis to just be prominent in the person in question’s chart. But in the case of Vertex Axis mirroring, I also like to see some actual aspects to the Vertex Axis itself, to back it all up. This makes it real on an energy level and not just a symbolic one.

Your example had both of these if I recall, so who knows. He more then likely remembers your face at least.

As for house overlays involving the Vertex Axis, I haven’t explored it very much, but I suspect it has a lot to do with the context of how we’d have ‘fateful encounters’ with someone, or feel them as some type of inspiration for us.
