I don't know if it's Venus in Cancer.. I'm feeling pretty nostalgic, right about now. In retrospect, things always look a lot more fun than i thought they were at the moment.

Every time i see this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkgpfWOioPA i always wish that i did more of the same exact things-- party. I always wish that i had more fun. Even now, i'm only 24 and i don't know what i've done with my life.

I haven't pi$$ed or partied it away and i do not at all feel like i'm a "member of society" seeing as how i still live at home. I dropped out my first semester and even though at the time i told myself i was partying too much, i'm now thinking that i didn't party ENOUGH!!

I don't know what i'm doing with my life.. I guess i'll be one of those middle aged people still going to the clubs getting sh!t faced and making bad decisions while having to wake up and go to accounting every morning.. I wish i could toast to that... But the thought of it being a reality really depresses me..

Anyone else?

What are your other placements?
Cancer is definitely the one most likely responsible for nostalgia, looking at the past and wishing it hadn't gone by so fast.

Wow, crazy synchronicity here.

I was *just* feeling nostalgic about my past and having regrets!

Like.. wow.

I have no Cancer planets but IC in Cancer and I totally blame it for everything lol.

No seriously look at your Moon.
If it's aspected by Saturn, that could be it..

And I feel for you, really.
I can relate.

I have a Cancer moon.

I regret things that I say when I am anxious.

I feel ashamed when avoided.

I feel embarrassed when I say too much or get too honest.

I have Mars in Cancer in the 29th and I'm always reviewing what I've said and done and how I could have done it better, especially in intimate relationships. From the anxiety of this Mars placement, I've had tendencies to obsess about my past actions [Mars] and look back on them with mixed feelings and emotions like bittersweetness, regret, worry or depression or a mixed bag to be more accurate [Cancer].

My recent transit to Venus in Cancer in the 7th ended up with me being sad and nostalgic for past interactions with someone whom I originally felt close to but then pushed me away. In areas of love and relationships Venus in Cancer made me feel bittersweet and have a lot of emotional yearnings for reconnection against all proper logic... I know the person is bad for me but I didn't care at the time, I just needed them and couldn't help but be so drawn to follow my heart and obsess over the past happiness we had.

I don't really understand the notion of nostalgia. The present is always better than the past was, isn't it?

Imo, Cancer are the ones that have the hardest time letting go of the past. They tend to cling to things and people.

Also people with lots of retrograde planets could be the types that experience mostalgia and regrets more.

That's a very Aquarian way of thinking.

Good point! Thanks for that.. In a wiiiide orb, my moon would be getting the square from you-know-who right now. Hadn't thought about it.. Feels a lot like a mini-you-know-who return. Ugh....

I don't know if it will make you feel better but I hope you'll at least get a chuckle out of this (which if you've seen the popular Tik Tok vid by Ke$ha that this mocks then you probably will):

I'm just saying that sometimes the past IS better.

Maybe it was a bit morbid, though.

Nostalgia and sentimentality are definitely a Cancerian thing.

Honestly I don't see anything wrong with it unless you're living in the past and just refuse to move forward and can't appreciate the present.

who i am now is very different from who i was. scorpio dominant. i regret when i could not control my energies in the past and have hurt people. as for nostalgia i've looked back enough with saturn in my 12th. i know where i come from. that whole transit is enough for me for like the next 20 years lol. i prefer to look towards the future.

Mars in Cancer support group? Or Mars in the 29th support group? I could do well in both of those, lol... sigh

Anyway, just wanted to pop in and say you're not alone c1nd3r. But you don't have to be anything you don't want to be.

I'm 23 and it will have taken me nearly six or seven years to get my bachelor's degree. I still live at home, and I've always been single. I party sometimes but the more I grow older the more embarrassed I get about my getting wasted and acting crazy. That kind of turning point is a motivator to get my life on track and where I want it to be, and sooner or later you'll hit that curve too and your life will be an upward spiral.

you just reminded me of a show..

quote:
Rome is burning, he said, as he poured himself another drink. Yet, here I am knee deep in another river of pussy. Here it comes, she thought. Another self indulgent, whiskey soaked, diatribe about how ******* great everything was in the past. And how all us poor souls born too late to see the Stones at - wherever, or snort the good coke that they had at Studio 54 - well, we all just missed out on practically everything worth living for. And the worst part was, she agreed with him. Here we are, she thought, at the edge of the world - the very edge of western civilization and all of us are so desperate to feel something... anything... that we keep falling into each other and ******* our way toward the end of days.

it's from californication.
