what in a chart would tell of having one?

..and in synastry what aspects would foster this kind of relationship?

chiron is significant here no?

also, for example, it doesn't make much sense to me to get a fat trainer because, health issues not a factor, he should practice what he preaches no? but then time/ work are a factor so i do not know if i am wrong in that one.

likewise i feel i have nothing to learn from unsuccessful people except theory and their experience. like this is the sound approach, this is what was in the history books, etc. but what i decide to do might be completely different.

but then i have a degree on astrotheme that says i should listen to elders! i agree, i should. but old age doesn't always mean wisdom.

I’ve noticed that people who overlay my 10th house in synastry are the ones who tend to ‘mentor’ me, and teach me things. Virgo is on my Mc, and I often encounter people with Virgo in their natal in my work environment, and have them foster in me an ability to do my job better.

I have always thought of Saturn as the mentor. Since it is a place where you feel very insecure and less than able, you look for someone to teach you the ways of that house and maybe take the responsibility reins. Once you "conquer" your own Saturn though, you become the mentor in that area.

Also maybe people with planets that conjunct your north node? Then they would have personal knowledge of what you have not yet explored.
