What type of woman does this guy go for? Moon in Cancer suggests the need for a nurturing, emotionally understanding girl but Venus in Aquarius wants emotional detachment and just a friend. Pretty contradictory needs, here...what do you think?

personally I think the moon in is most important in determining what a guy needs. venus is more of what attracts the guy . I'm just gonna take a wild guess here and say he would look for a girl who's different in some way, she would also need to be intelligent. but she also needs to be loving and affectionate.

I dated a guy for a short while who had this combo and my impression of him was secretive, private, yet wanting lots of attention and praise. He wants a slender girl who can be mom, ambitious like a career woman, yet sweet/innocent/beautiful.
He wants a super intelligent one too who's always full of surprises. I don't think he'd go for the shy kind.
Yet, this guy was sort of self-conscious and always deleting pictures on FB or hiding them, etc. I'm not sure whether they would want to settle down. It probably depends what age they are. My overall impression of this guy was that he was way too sensitive for me, meaning it was in the bad way (defensive, hiding feelings, indirect). Eventually it got really frustrating as he wanted his freedom yet want a stable kind, but he was unwilling to express how he felt. He was very affectionate when we were together, but he wouldn't express his feelings with words. I sensed he was dishonest and I didn't like that at all.

Those are wildly conflicting needs.

I have a Cancer moon (posted a thread not too long ago about having this--a "support group" thread).

Personally, I like to feel protected and safe with people. I like to feel secure. I don't date, so I don't know if this would apply to relationships if I did date, but I think that it probably would.

Venus is all about relationships. Moon is more about your emotions/subconscious. Mars is about sexual attraction.

I would say that someone with Venus in Aquarius would be drawn to a person who's unconventional, intelligent, non-conformist, free spirit, a bit "out there". The moon in Cancer, though, might need a lot of security. This is where they come into conflict. Aquarians are a fixed sign and can be very stubborn (especially if they have a lot of earth), but they're also unpredictable at times. Cancers are highly sensitive and emotional; Aquarians, not so much. They can be very perceptive, but unless they have some more water in the chart, they tend to not be very open about emotions.

I would say that Mars would be indicative of what this person would need/want physically, whereas Venus might be more about appearance and about the relationship itself/how a person approaches relationships.

Probably lots of femininity with a quirky side. He probably wants a woman that can nurture him like his mom can nurture him but someone who after nurturing goes off on her own thing with her own career, education, goals etc. He would at some point become dependent on her but not vice versa

Thanx for your input, everyone. In this case this guy has Mars in Aquarius conjunct his Venus..and Aries sun that squares his Moon..
