I would like to know as well. My daughter has her Sun, Mercury (chart ruler), and Venus in the 8th. Her dad is a deadbeat a**, and hasn't ever been actively involved in her life even when we were still together, so maybe that has something to do with it.

Hello...I have my Sun and Venus in 8th in Virgo (koch house). In placidus house it's sun, mercury, mars.

Issues of sex, spirituality, death, transfomation, all fascinate me. I have an incredible father and mother. But I have lived with health issues my whole life. (I have lupus.) I am a counselor and work with at risk youth. I have dealt with abusive relationships in my personal love life. But I also feel I have transformed my life over and over again for the best. I am very sexual by nature. I also have Sun square Neptune 11th (rules Pisces). And I have Jupiter/Juno (2nd house) opposed to Sun.

Feel free to ask me any questions.

My best friend has an 8th House Libra Sun conj Mars. You can talk to him about any deep subject as he is kind of like a Scorpio in the 8th House Sun placement. I love 8th House Sun people, myself

Sun in the 8th, as well as Venus and Chiron.

To say my life has been roses and rainbows is a big azz joke, but it could have been worse and I am not trying to come off as self-pitying. Most of the issues in my life I take the blame for, as I had a hand in my own misery at times. Sometimes it was just situations out of my grasp.

Ever since I was a child I was aware of my sexual nature. It is in this area I have suffered a great deal of pain, but it hasn't caused any shut-downs or anything...It's taken more of an emotional toll. I still consider myself very sexual as an adult.

Emotions are another painful area in my life. I am one of those people who can't open up to anybody and not because I think it's weak, it's because everyone else considers it weak when I cry or say something is bothering me. My family, though they care and provide for me in practical ways, have NEVER been there for me emotionally, and neither are my friends. When I have a problem, they all encourage me to "get over it" which I agree is necessary, but encouraging me to be happy when I feel like shiz is something I will NEVER co-sign. I HATE faking stuff and putting on airs. I can't fake emotions whatsoever, nor pretend like they don't exist. I am aware this is a weakness but hey we are human, we all have them.

Other than that, it manifests in my interest in Astrology, and intimate subjects. I love intimate conversations with others, and when people open up to me. I almost never open up to others, but I welcome it so much when they do to me because I see it as trust or seeing inside that person. I also hate superficiality...like I will appreciate surface beauty, but I don't make it the single most important thing in my life nor do I make it a need. I can see a man and think he is handsome, but I do not make it a base for approaching him with romantic interest, and sometimes I am just indifferent.

I am heavily influenced by my enviroment, though. I am prone to depression, if I'm not getting my "soul" food lol. Which is intimate conversation, bonding with others, and fresh air.

8th house just means bellow the surface. Deep bellow. It's someone who has either come into touch with their gift of plummeting into the depths or externalizes their repression of the work that this entails into extreme emotional drama. They shine by unearthing....for the people who fall into the seventh....or anyone really....because you could consider a can of juice your partner and then unearth what is inside....someone who wants to see what is inside everything...as a kid they probably tried grabbing for any object just to see what it was like deep in. The eighth house is what we inherit...we may project it as a curse, but its a gift. When we slay the dragon, we are free to use these gifts, and maybe later on resurrect the dragon and then ride him like a cowgirl.

I have my sun in the 8th house along with mercury. I'm a capricorn and my mercury is conjunct my sun.

I have definitely gone through my fair share of challanges in my life. I grew up with my mother and my grandmother and my father was never around because he never really grew up himself and could never really seem to take care of himself. My family struggled financially. There is also a history of abuse in my family which has effected me but I have made the decision to end the cycle of violence...it stops with me. I suppose that goes along with the whole idea that the 8th house is about trnasformation. I am always searching for answers as to how I can become a healthier person. Because of the things I have dealt with in my life I think that it's fairly easy for me to empathize with people and to put myself in the shoes of those who may not have it as easy as I do. My life is a lot different now though...I have basically chosen my own family and was legally adopted by them about a year and a half ago

I constantly feel as though I am trnasforming...slowly becoming the person I know I am meant to be deep down. Much of my life has been about me overcoming the emotional scars of my past and I can say with certainty that I am succeeding. As hard as it's been I think that it has made me a richer person and definitely more interesting

I am also very sexual but I take love fairly seriously and am really just looking for the real thing and the real thing only. I feel like anything else is a waste of my time and I would never betray myself to anyone. I'm a fairly strong willed person I guess... I feel like I am always questioning things and looking below the surface, especially when it comes to social interactions, nature, music and the arts...I guess I'm just generally fascinated by everything!

I have pretty much had to work hard for everything that I have. There are no shortcuts for me and I learned that lesson early on...however, I think that's a lesson we all learn at some point in our lives.

Lazyscarecrow and Lumonisty I can relate!

I'm a Leo Sun conjunct Mercury in the 8th H.

I'm a very private person at first, it takes me a long time to open up to people. But once I get past barriers within relationships I have an all encompassing relationship with that person and this is both platonic and romantic relationships.

I tend to dislike really shallow and normal people aka "normies." People have a hard time figuring me out I've been called "mysterious" a few times. But I seem to hit people hard if they do like me. They never forget about me because I have some kind of "effect" on people. Also I'm highly sexual and having sex is a natural self expression for a 8th H sun.

Yeah I also forgot to mention that my Dad has always been emotionally unavailable to me. And I only saw my Dad a few times out of the year until I was 12. We're on better terms now at least.

The Sun, I take it, is the personal identity. It is whom the person is progressively trying to become or is directing their efforts towards realizing.

My Sun is in Jupiter-ruled Sagittarius. My goals in life are inextricably combined with expansion, to broaden, to widen and to retain as much as my personal freedom as possible.

But what kind of Sagittarian am I? Well, with Taurus Ascending, it is likely that I may be the more private and introverted one.

Taurus’ conservative, introverted and passive energy- is concerned with the status quo and its own development and little concerned with what is going on outside itself that does not affect it directly.

Taurus-inward focused Venus- is concerned with keeping the peace on the inside: Keeping a sense of steadiness going inwardly (that is why Taurus doesn’t explode easily; they want to maintain their inner peace)

This is in direct contrast with Sagittarian energy; which prides itself with being open, gregarious, and inter-active. Sagittarian energy can be hot-tempered, impersonal and expanding its outlook to outside the home and miles beyond the “inner life”.

So, how do the two merge the expression?

How do the two energies co-exist?

To my understanding, the 8th house and the 6th house are the two houses that grapple with issues of “self preservation” vs. social influence.

If you observe both the the energies of Virgo and Scorpio, you’ll find a preservation of their privacy; even in relationships.

Virgo can be quiet, unassuming and retiring to the background whilst Scorpio can be passionate and defensive in protecting their privacy.

So it is natural then, for the two associative houses to be the “resting place” of people who have energies that are split between an impersonal/public oriented persona v.s the inwardly, self-centered self focused ideals.

This could be the position of the Asc to Sun or Sun to Asc i.e. Cancer/Aquarius, Libra/Taurus, Aquarius/Virgo, Leo/Pisces, Aries/Scorpio, Gemini/Capricorn, Sagittarius/Taurus, Cancer/Sagittarius etc.

First, with these people, it is the personality that is conventional and, what the native believes, everyone wants to see (7th).And then there is the more private, self-interested nature that the native may believe too “dark” or “close to home” to project openly to others(1st).

Take for instance, someone with the Asc in Aries and Virgo as their Sun sign.
So, yes, on one hand this individual may appear very Aries-like; straight-forward, earnest, forthcoming and assertive.

Externally, worldly ambition and being “seen’ as a front-runner and success story may be very much where the Mars energy is focused towards.

But the long-term goals of the individual may be more focused towards virtue, minimalism, propriety, self-sacrifice and personal detachment away from all the applause.

Virgo does the job, and does it well, not needing applause and being satisfied with its own achievements (even if they are not grand in style) and very puritanical in nature.

So, you have two dual energies that need both be accommodated by the individual: The outward, public persona (Aries) and the more inward focused goals (Virgo). This individual may create a platform for the spotlight and much personal attention (Aries) and then shun, avoid or be embarrassed by the all of these (Virgo).

The sun, in this case, would sit in the 6th house; focusing the individual on a more minimalistic, self-directed life of self-improvement (balancing any ego gratifying urges initiated by the extroverted Asc).

The life may be focused towards more inner growth in order to phase out the “drawing of attention” that is due to the Asc.

If it’s the other way around: Virgo Asc with Aries Sun.

The individual will project a very retiring demeanor that seems shy, but personal, friendly but limited, talented but self-deprecating.

Add the energies of the long term goals of the Sun; to be seen, to be the conqueror and do what others dare not, to overcome, to define and to break the mould etc. and you have a person who wants centre stage but may be too self-conscious to admit it to themselves. Someone who wants to be seen as great, outstanding and worthy of praise, but is too shy and retiring to venture for it.

So, with this individual, the Sun in Aries would be in the eighth house; focusing the individual on intent-full, focused and even calculating strategy of realizing the Sun’s dreams without compromising the ideals of the Asc:

This individuals progresses slowly and meticulously (Virgo) towards realizing the Sun’s goals (Aries) and ensuring the goals realized are both fulfilling (Aries) and authentic (Virgo).

Yes, my friend with the 8th House Libra Sun conj Mars is not superficial, at all. I really love that about him, and people in general.

My Sun in Taurus is in the 8th house.

I'm deep, sensual and I have a big interest in sex, dark stuff, psychology and I like to delve deeper in the consciousness of other people so I can really understand them.
I can't be superficial. I hate small talk. When I talk to someone, it has to go to a deeper level or else I won't be satisfied.

I don't really have problems with my dad.. I've had a normal childhood

Glad all of you were willing to share your experiences. Seems this is a very deep house with alot life lessons at hand, it transforms you for better or worse. My friend with this placement is Scorpio Sun, so its kind of a double whammy for her. She also had a very difficult life, especially during her childhood. Situations were out of her control for her, everytime she turned around life was handing her another curve ball to be dealt. She also had to cope with being sexually taken advantage of by people she knew as well as people she would just meet. She even admitted that at one point she suffered a nervous breakdown, too much hard reality coming at her at once. Through all this she is one of the strongest people I know

AscTaurus - I love your post!! Did you write that? Brilliantly said. I relate to some of what your said about 6th and 8th house as I have Virgo 8th - Jupiter 2nd opposed and Cap Asc. How would you combine my two energies? The same? My moon is also 1st Aquarius. But I am actually quite open and I love attention and recognition! People are often amazed at my vulnerability to dive deep with people I don't know well. I can keep secrets and I can be mysterious, but often my emotions get the best of me and I am compelled to express myself. I am actually such a passionate person I rarely meet people who can match me in my passionate ways. Sometimes i think i overwhelm people with my expressive nature. And I am like this in all aspects of my life. But it always seems to go against that Virgo mannerism or the secretive Scorpio or even the serious Cap...I think it is the Jupiter opposed to sun and my moon I. Aquarius... But I'm not sure. ????

My Sun is about a degree away from the Eighth House in the Seventh. I also have my Mercury in the Eighth House. For me, my childhood wasn't so smooth, my dad rejected me, didn't want to know and I had problems with my mother. This forced me to grow up quite quickly and I was always knowledgeable about life.
Death always fascinates me, I've always been interested on my own and talking about death isn't so hard to do for me. I couldn't understand why people weren't so open about death while I was. I guess it's my Mercury. Relationships play a big part of my needs but my emotions do run very deep. I guess this is the glory of having the Sun between the Seventh and Eighth House Cusp, you get the best of both worlds, but also the worst.

Sun in 8th...no matter what sign is strong transformation/ healing. The 8th house sun person carries this energy with them always.

Sun in 8th people are on going internal searchers for the truth. They are the realist of the real. If someone has sun in the 8th always assume they loathe superficiality and expect complete honesty out of you. Don't even try to be dishonest with they will see it before you think it. Sun in 8th people are healers and usually carry much resposibilty on their backs for everyone close to them. They feel like they constantly put to tests but this is the exact reason they are the strongest internally.

The major plus point to a sun in 8th person is their sexuality and sexual appetite. They are usually very lucky with all things that are generally considered unlucky or taboo. They are gifted with remarkable insight to anything they are curious about.

They usually have powerful personalities and unyeilding willpower.

Romantically, don't go there unless you match their level of deep intensity. They want all of you, if you can't give them that commitment it will never last.

Sun-Saturn in 8th -- took longer to reach an active sex life than average. However, by my early 30s was totally unafraid of death. I determined then how I would die and have no mortality issues whatsoever. Very much interested in matters often considered 'occult' but which I do not consider ominous at all. Death is part of life. Have done quite a lot of reading on NDEs (Near Death Experiences) and it has helped me put together theories relating to the birth process and astrology. Birth and death are just going through the doorway of life in different directions.

Very much in tune with the 'other side' when I need to be. (Automatic writing/channeling for personal use). I'm also interested in the mundane matters associate with the 8th house: economics, the politics of money, etc.

The 8th house is one of those slices of the horoscope that urges us to develop by going into those areas of complexity or mystery that many people just leave alone or don't want to question. Essentially it is the house of merging with what lies outside the range of the human ego consciousness, yet if one only aims at the mundane level of grabbing hold of others resources (money, purely temporal), then they are operating mostly from ego/materialist perspective.

The 8th house relates to the material and conceptual sharing structures in society that take form after agreements (7th house) are reached, the collective prosperity/resources.

8th = All power is shared and no resources are ever created by any one of us alone. This can take us beyond the ego consciousness of "I can do it myself" and beyond illusions of control over what lies 'outside' us.

Here is the birth chart of the long-famed economist and former Federal Reserve Bank Chairman, Alan Greenspan (validated by master astrologer John Willner) with transits for 23 October 2008, the day he tearfully admitted to Congress that his Ayn-Randian Libertarian 'hands off' non-regulatory economic philosophy had been flawed.

Greenspan Says He Was Wrong On Regulation

This was a great read for me. My 8th house is in Libra and packed with 5 planets - sun, Venus, mercury, Saturn, and Pluto. I have the best relationship with my dad, but my mom and I have our troubles. But many of the above descriptions resonate with me. I am only interested in digging deep with people, have had some very intense downs, but have always managed to servive and transform through the greates if lessons. Made me feel at home to read all of these stories and insights.
