I ran a synastry chart for a couple using cafe astro. The man has venus cancer the woman has sun in cancer. But it does not show any aspect at all. I ran a natal for the same person and it says sun conjuct mercury. Yet their mercury is in leo and sun in cancer. I thought conjuction meant the same sign?IP: Logged |

Yes, the conjunction means the same sign. I also think you should keep the orb as tight as possible... once you pass 4-5 it's going to lose considerable power. What degrees do their planets fall in? The Mercury-Sun conjunction isn't possible since one is in Leo and the other is in Cancer. Simply it's because a conjunction means the blending of two planets to form one greater function... it has its highs and it has its lows, this new entity. IP: Logged |

Out of sign conjunctions are possible! Like with any other out of sign aspect. Degrees dictate aspects, not signs. IP: Logged |

2nd this. My Sagittarius Mercury conjuncts my Capricorn Neptune because my Merc is at 29 deg Sag, and Neptune at 5 deg Cap, and because Merc is a fast-moving planet, that 6 deg orb applies for a conjunction. IP: Logged |

I agree with RedScorp. If one person has Venus at 29 degree Leo, and the other has Mars at 1 degree Virgo, I consider it a conjunct aspect. IP: Logged |

So you really just need to run a chart. Knowing the sign is not enough. I've ran synastries with this same thing before. Knowing two planets have the same sign and then the chart says no aspect. Is it relevant if the chart says no aspect?IP: Logged |

Same sign, but no aspect is perhaps a little relevant. For example, if you both have Taurus Moons, you might have more of an understanding than two different moons with no aspect. But all in all, first look at aspected planets, rather than planets that lack aspects. IP: Logged |

Really? I apologize for misguiding the OP then. Actually had no idea about this one. Thanks for informing me. I feel pretty stupid right now. IP: Logged |
