This is moreso of interest for people who believe in some amount of predistination or "karmic" relationships:

I was just thinking about it ideologically the other day and I realized that if there's an element of fatedness in our meetings with partners (past-life or whatever), then is there even a point to checking the "relationship potential" from an astrological standpoint? Seemingly, the person has been put in your path for a purpose and will stay in your life until the karma has been burned away or an important lesson has been learned. There's no predicting or controlling it; what will be will be.

What do you think?

Maybe to get a glimpse ahead of time of what will be?

This is exactly what I've thought, that some people do it anyway cuz they want to know what to expect.

Myself, I usually don't start to dive heavily into synastry or composites until long after something is over to see what caused certain feelings or certain things to happen. But I think in terms of predicting ultimate compatibility, synastry and composites are useless. Probably the person I'm the most compatible with, I have the worst composite with, most of it squares. The person I have the best synastry with, doesn't understand me at all and we aren't on the same wavelength whatsoever, it's like two different species trying to interact, canine and man, and I'm not the one that does the barking so I'll let you figure out which one he is.

I think you've got a good point.
It came to mind today because I'm dating a lot lately - tonight, I have a date with a Capricorn, a person who is exactly a month and three days older than myself - and I pulled up our synastry - I just couldn't help myself - and his natal, and I was really disappointed to see that he has a Sag moon. Ffs, Sag moon men LOVE me. I input our data into the Cafeastrology match thing-y, and found zero squares between our charts, not a whole lot of chart activity overall, but some nice conjunctions. In spite of this, I couldn't get over my disappointment with the Sag moon because I just had a breakup with one of those, and all the Sag moon men I know are extremely messy and I'm OCD and that's a recipe for relationship disaster.

Then it hit me.

I would have been a lot happier if I'd never checked. I mean, let's say he was put there to be a significant relationship and he's supposed to teach me something and we're supposed to eventually go our separate ways (I know this is a long shot, it's just a date, but humour me). It's inconsequential how miserable he will eventually make me if it's something I'm supposed to go through, so why get my hopes up OR be disappointed in advance?

I like your approach of... investigating things after the fact.

Actually, he has the same Venus sign as my ex, too. I'm now officially not excited for this date

That's almost like saying: "well, if i have to go back to sleep at the end of the day, why bother getting up!?"

I take it you might still be becoming familiar with astrology? Well, i looked at things that way but i admit it was in the very beginning.

The composite does help.

If it's just dating, enjoy the date... If it's with the hopes of you guys developing something long term, check the composite.. If there are uranus squares or opposition to the sun or venus, then you know it isn't going to go very far and then can you have reason to have a certain outlook.

No. I've been studying astrology for quite a few years. It's dating I'm "new" to. I was in a relationship for nearly three years, and it ended recently. And I'm not sure how much stock I put in the composite... my ex and I had a fabulous composite (for instance). I also had an amazing composite with a Libra I was getting to know earlier this year, and now we don't even talk.

Also, it's really hard to ask for a birth time without feeling like a complete weirdo .

There are other red flags though with this date, like moon conjunct Mars...

Can anyone just elaborate on sag moon men please?

Why don't you like them? Give specifics if you don't mind, or if anyone has a great article about sag moon men I would love to read it

I know about 4 (well, this new one is the fourth). They have bigtime problems ideologically with commitment, even if they never stray. They're not the marrying kind, no sir. Or they marry very late in life (think: Trent Reznor, Lenny Kravitz). You'll rarely find a Sag moon man whose girlfriend was born in the same country (if the same ethnicity); many date women of other ethnicities. They're extremely messy and forgetful. They hate being confined to plans and prefer to do things on the fly/last minute. They need a partner who makes them laugh. They're not overly close to their moms. They're not overly cuddly unless very earthy overall chart. They tend to need their "space." But they'll feel like a best friend. Loads of fun. You'll enjoy their company. Just not the most responsible or grownup of partners.

Keep in mind that all of the Sag moon men I know well have mutable suns (Virgo or Sagittarius). I don't know why I always attract Sag moon men; they're horrible with me. I think it might be my Sag Mars .

Do you mind if we talk on here a little bit?

What you are saying is interesting. The reason I am so interested is because the man I am currently in love with is sag sun, sag moon, but venus in capricorn - really not sure how the hell these three combos go together! He is married and we are supposed to have a professional relationship but it is super weird and very personal (not physically intimate per se - but emotionally intimate instead). I am just very confused about him. How you described the sag moon sounds about right....His wife is foreign, he is foreign, and I am foreign. We are all foreign. I have virgo moon and not sure how this mixes with his sag moon. But we have a shitload of nice synastry to go with it and a super intense composite. It is just craziness!!!!!!!!!!!

Hahahaha!!! i know the feeling. In a few cases, i've had them actually get their birth certificate

I don't think moon/mars conjunction is a red flag.. It is if neither want the risk of pregnancy

If you're not optimistic, maybe you're not ready for a new thing? Don't put so much pressure on yourself if you're getting back in the game, again.

Just enjoy the evening. Think of it as one step and forget the journey. That may help.

I am very sorry that they are horrible to you, I don't know if the sag moon is very nice to me either. I met a new guy with mars in sagittarius but I am not attracted to him! AND ITS A SHAME

I like sag moon, maybe there just a part of your type if your drawn to them besides if this new guy has a different sun sign than the one you were previously in a relationship with that should make a difference.

My ex is Sag sun, Sag moon (conjunction), Venus in Capricorn. What are the chances, right? Was your guy born in '82?

When I saw the same moon/Venus combo with this date, I was like, "FML!" I dunno what it is. I think it's that I like guys who enthusiastically pursue me, and Sag men do just that. I have spent time with TWO Taurus moon men recently and both were too blase about going after me; I just lost interest. I hate to be the one to chase.

If your guy is married, I dunno if I would ever expect it to develop into anything. Sagittarius men are very flirty but they often write checks they can't/don't cash.

This is what I'm hoping, too.

Well, off to my date. Wish me luck!

Good luck on your date! I really hope that it goes well. I like people with taurus moon only for friendships, I have virgo moon myself. He was not born in '82, a lot earlier though.
