I would like to read your thoughts, ideas, motivations about what indicates intelligence in the natal chart by signs, placements of planets in signs, aspects, rising sign etc. Thanks!

Post whatever you like. But in the first place I was pointed towards academic intelligence. Learning capacities. Sharp mind. IQ. etc.

I've seen Pluto in the 3rd lead to someone having a very deep and probing mind. Many I've known with this placement always excel academically, never give up in studying even the most difficult of materials. Two 3H Pluto relatives got on the Dean's list in college for multiple years in a row. The first relative also had Mars-Pluto opposition, Mars in 9H.

Saturn in the 3rd can lead to an intense, although sometimes somber and heavy, mind that is deep and very wise. This one can lead to anxieties about speech and basic academic ability without their being reason for one, which can lead to overcompensation and getting great in these areas.

Some of the great thinkers like Einstein had Mercury-Saturn. Being quite humble and almost self-depracating about your own knowledge yet having a very wise, genius way of thinking. This is definitely Merc-Saturn.

People with heavy Virgo influences ....or mercury in Virgo. These people are freakin' SMART!

I noticed Sagittarius with Scorpio mercury , and also Scorpios with Sagittarius mercury.

Water/Air mooners.

planets in 3H.

Mercury aspecting pluto.

Some will say mercury aspecting uranus, well I have this aspect and I do think out of the box but my thoughts are pretty erratic.

sun+mercury in Aqua, I've seen these people they're incredibly creative.

My Aries mercury led me to engineering school

I would think the smartest ones are Geminis, especially those with Mercury in 3rd House or 9th House.

I have a grand trine between Mercury, Jupiter, Pallas/MC; Mercury opposes Mars.

My Sun is in Virgo conjunct South Node.

My iq test gave me a score of 127.

I don't know if i ever stop reading about whatever strikes my curiosity. I'm a pretty sharp cookie but i've never cared for exerting myself for straight A's in school. I've always had some sort of confidence in my abilities given that i was praised from a very early age because i was reading in preschool.

That confidence led to me not giving a sh*t about impressing institutions (chiron in 3rd/Neptune in 9th) and at the same time, i was a teacher's worst nightmare.

someone with strong mutable influence, or mutable houses, or planets aspecting ones like mercury.

i think for someone with a smart brain, i mean iQ smart, the brain calculates fast and efficiently, then i guess albert einstein could be considered a natal example:

Pisces sun, Sagittarius Moon. plenty mutable energy. the soul (sun) is intellectual, the main body of personality (moon) is a strong mutable placement, sagittarius.

he had venus conjunct mercury, a love/value/interest and appreciation for intelligence, intellect.

for someone to be intelligent, they have to be motivated and interested most the time. (some people it does seem to come natural without trying).

so yeah, personal aspects, especially mars or venus to jupiter or mercury, i would imagine would keep someone actively involved in intellectual persuits or interests/intelligence. mars and venus seem to be the repetitive -know-how-do planets on the daily basis.

how much would those activities satisfy the soul/heart and personality of the person? depends on the moon/sun signs i imagine, and their aspects.

houses are important too i imagine, particularly the 3rd and 9th houses. planets their will bring the native actively involved in these areas.

i'm somewhat intelligent, i am this way because i want to be, im interested in knowledge, i love knowledge. i want to know about a lot of things, and utilise it for wisdom and something productive to help me live smarter, and make success better.

i have a 9th house Moon, and a 3rd House Venus. Mercury rules my 3rd house, my 3rd house rests in virgo. i have mercury in virgo in the 3rd house, mars in virgo.

social intelligence? fixed signs:

Leo/Aquarius/Scorpio/Taurus,
if they have mutable energies alongside, then very much so.

examples:

2Pac shakur (gemini sun, mars aquarius)
tony blair (taurus sun, gemini mars)

associated planets involved as well (pluto/sun/uranus maybe)

i think some cardinal energy is important if such socially intelligent people actually do something productive with their knowledge, like politics or something.

the 2 example above both have a planet in aries (tony has venus, 2pac has moon)

I have Pluto in 3rd and conjunct PoF. I have always been a quick learner. At school i actually did not study much but somehow got the best grades anyway. They said i had a light mind... We say it when someone has good memory and need not to spend hours of studying to know ...

It ain't about school, cos' I pretty much clean out the school part.

Intelligence has *nothing* to do with school or grades.

I have a T-square with Saturn (1) opposite Mars (7) and both square Mercury (3)
as well as Jupiter trine Mercury

I'm not tooting my own horn because I think I'm just average in the IQ department but in school I repeatedly scored very high.
The Mars/Mercury square is responsible for my ADHD and kids with this are usually very bright, they just can't slow down long enough to give you the steps they took to get to the answer.

and they call ADHD a learning disability...go figure

I totally agree with the Mercury/Uranus aspect especially the conjunction.

Hmmmmm

In my experience Gem suns are highly intelligent.

As well as Libras I have met!

I, Pisces sun, Jupiter, Mercury, Mars stellium in Aqua in the 3rd opposed, closely to Uranus in Leo in the 9th, squaring my Taurus moon in the 6th...ofcourse forming 3 very tight, fixed t-squares, have been discribed as "highly intelligent." Tho I think not. I barely graduated highschool. Did darn well in nursing school...some years later.

I will say I am not book smart, no not at all, but I pay attention to what is going on around me and apply it to everyday life.

Bfriend is highly Virgo, Virgo sun, Mercury, Venus, Moon and to ME he is way more intelligent than me, tho funny he states he is an idiot compared to me.

Really, with my placements I have a very quick mind that learns and adapts to everything thrown my way.

Interesting. I have a friend who is a Gemini Sun with Gemini mercury, she has an iq of 143. She also has mercury trine saturn (I have that aspect too). And she has her moon in Virgo.

How about rising signs? Could this influence intelligence as well?

Intelligence requires a heavy amount of focus and attention to detail, it seems.

A lot of Geminis and Scorpios I have met fit the bill.

I read somewhere that Mercury-Jupiter or Moon-Mercury are aspects to consider with intelligence. Also, everyone is focusing on Mercury and while that is an indicator, and astrologer said that you also look at the Moon to determine intelligence. I gotta find the link though.

Moon in the 3rd house.
Mercury-MC perhaps?
Stellium involving Sun-Mercury-Saturn or Pluto.

I know. I'm just saying because above they mentioned Pluto in 3rd, so i said that it was a big help in being a quick learner... not an answer to the topic. :d

Oh sorry. Not directed at you

I don't consider myself intelligent nor a fast learner. I hated school. I have triple graduate degrees.

Well, i wouldn't say that - being very good at school wile spending very little time learning - can imply that you have a high IQ - and generally speaking - that's what intelligence is about... on the other hand - if we're to talk about "Wisdom", now - that's another story...and some might say that "intelligence is wasted on some people" ...wile others might ask - "which kind?" - since there's a plausible theory which proves that "there are more types than one:"

^^ How about getting great grades because you know how to "game the system" and minimize the studying?

Heck I got wonderful grades. Nearly perfect SATs. I forgot the vocabulary 5 minutes after the test though. Never touched any of that math/statistics junk again after I finished school. Useless crap. But I still got all As through graduate school. Where does that get me?

Give the the kid in the 'hood with street smarts any day of the week. That's a smart kid, knowing how to survive the streets.
