I know how to find them and it's unanimous that they're in the same avenue as conjuncts and opposites. But are they of the same strength? I've read in quite a few places that they are weaker versions of the aforementioned aspects, and I've read once that they're stronger. So which is it? Same, less, or more strength?I have Venus-Jupiter parallel which are both contra-parallel Mars. I also have Uranus-Neptune parallel too, but they're conjunct any ways, (Bonus/Optional: what's the maximum declination a planet/angle can have?) IP: Logged |

Reading interpretations of Venus conjunct Jupiter, Venus opposite Mars... They do apply, but not in an overt way! Like, it's still supah apparent, to me, but very subtle. Almost feels like a ghost aspect. I have Mars square Jupiter natally, so I suppose the contra-parallel only intensifies that? IP: Logged |

oooh i wanna know about this tooo! i recently discovered i have sun/merc/mars parallel to each other(they are conjunct anyway)and those 3 are parallel my pluto. i have not found much info on how parallels and contra parallels work/feel.like are they as important as regular natal aspects?IP: Logged |

^Wowie! Do you feel like a Sun-Pluto person (or Mercury/Mars-Pluto person), but in a sort of "ghost" way? Like it's there, and you know it, but you can't EXACTLY pin it?IP: Logged |

oh yeah. i remeber reading the interpretations for all aspects (even the ones i didn't have).and when i came across the descriptions for sun-pluto, mer-pluto, and mars/pluto, i was like wth? i FEEL like this. but i don't have those aspects so what gives? (this was before i even knew about declinations and whatnot). and then this past weekend, i find out about parallels and contra parallels. and im like, well then no wonder. natally i have merc semi square pluto. so its hard to know if the merc parallel pluto is adding or doing nothing to that lol. but still, with all 4 planets parallel each other, its like that energy sort of creeps up on you out of nowhere. when you least expect it..whereas i think, those who have the natal aspect, most likely deal with that energy 24/7, and that energy is very obvious and present for them. its like i have my natal aspects and their energy in front of me, but these parallels and that energy are like right right behind me. its hard to explain lol IP: Logged |

A parallel works like a weak conjunction. if the planets are different signs, you'll find they get along easier than they maybe should.Contraparallels are a weaker version of the opposition. If the planets are already conjunct [and parallel] then it might help the planets to retain a little bit more of their originality rather than having to merge together? As in they stand side by side but don't have to become one ? Edit to add ~ definitely weaker...everything I've ever read and researched has said weaker.

Well I'm a pretty big fan of Magi-astro and according to them aspects in declinations are as important as aspects in the longitudes (on their own)But.. when an aspect is in both dimensions (the same 2 planets) it's considered to be super powerful and they call it a *bi-level aspect*. The very most powerful bi-level aspect is an eclipse, when any two planets form a conjunction in longitudes and also a parallel in declinations which would be a major influence in a chart (here you can expand the orb up to even 5* in long. and 2* in dec.) But normally the orb is 3* in long. and 1,2 (=1,12) in dec. unless there are more planets involved in which case you can expand the orb for one planet up to 4* and in dec. up to about 1'36-1'42. It became a second nature to look at both dimensions and it's really worth to see nothing but the whole pic.. IP: Logged |
