Please excuse the clumsy title, hehe!

I would like to hear from those who have a "difficult" for want of a better word, combination of sun/ascendant. For exacmple I have a Pisces Sun with a Leo Ascendant (Aries decan) All my life I have found it very hard to express the real me, I seem to create a very strong impression on people - one that is often misleading. At times I feel like I am two people (I'm prefectly sane, I can assure you - well almost!)

Does anyone else have any experiences to share? How do you handle the inner-outer conflict?

I feel the same way about expressing the real me.

I have sun/moon/mercury in Gemini so you'd think I'd come across all chatty/bubbly/sociable wouldn't you? No flipping way! I have to contend with Cappy rising and chart ruler Saturn in Gemini making sure all those happy chatty planets are well and truly kept in check.

I come across as invisible usually. Always feel the outsider and a bit out on a limb which my 5th house sun doesn't like at all!

Hi zenith,

I know exactly what you mean, I'm kind of the other way around...people seem to get this initial impression (purely by looking at me I must add) that I am very confident, showy and arrogant to a degree. That is not me at all. I do like to dress nicely and make an effort with my body but i think most women do. I have an stellium of planets in Pisces in the 8th house so inside I am very private but kind and sensitive. I am in my thirties now and I'm tired of hearing the same old; "You're nothing like I thought you'd be! you're actually really nice!" I feel now that if people cant see who I am then we're probably never going to be great friends.

I suffer with an anxiety disorder which leads me to feel very tense and shy in certain situations, I think people possibly misread this as arrogance.

I have Sun and Merc in Gemini and Ascendant in the Square sign of Virgo. They are not in aspect though so its not usually an issue for me. I do notice my Virgo Asc in action though.

Gemini Sun
Libra Moon
Gemini Mercury
Cancer Venus
Virgo Mars
Virgo Asc

And yes, I'm a guy!

I have Leo ASC square Taurus sun by 1*.

I thought this was a fascinating quote: "My first teacher Isabel Hickey thought that squares or oppositions in mutable signs are just beginning to manifest in this lifetime and are therefore the easiest to handle. Squares or oppositions in cardinal signs, on the other hand, are carried over from our last lifetime. If handled appropriately through constructive action they won't manifest in the next life in fixed signs. And squares or oppositions in fixed signs symbolize “lessons we have failed to learn over many lifetimes, and are deeply ingrained patterns of behavior.” And because they symbolize our will and have become habituated ways of being or responding, they need a great deal of attention and self-discipline to change."

I have BIG issues with how I come across. Funny how I used to take pride in how people saw me as confident, happy go lucky, bright and cheerful. But hearing other people describe me back to me made me feel so fake and yet that mask is such a big part of me that I cannot seem to shake it, even still. It leaves me with much anxiety about how people see me, think of me, perceive me. But most of all, the fact that I don't know how to express the true me leaves me feeling like im less than and unauthentic, because the way people see me is not how I feel deep down inside. I'm happy to say its a work in progress

I have Leo ascendant square my Sagittarius sun. My sun also conjuncts my IC, so it softens the regular Sagittarius traits. My chart is heavily concentrated in the lower hemisphere, actually.

I wouldn't say I am loud and rambunctious, but people have told me that whenever I speak or walk into a room, I sort of have this commanding appearance and voice. Like, "look at me," and the truth of the matter is that I hate the spotlight. I never like to have attention, not even on my birthday. Yet I just receive it, anyway.

I do notice that sometimes when I get really excited, I tend to go over the top and maybe even too far, so it rubs people the wrong way. I'm just easily excitable, like a baby lion.

I also think people assume that I am really confident and show-offy when I'm not. I am probably the most insecure person in the room.

I can relate to you guys.
I have Scorpio Sun / Gemini ASC (natural quincunx.. yay).

People probably see me as quite chatty, restless and carefree. I can be these things, but in a social context. When I am my "true" self, I'm full of worries and thoughts/feelings (Water stellium). I am not as careless and talkative when people actually get close to me.

And people are really surprised when they get to know me better because I am completely different, like I'm almost two different people. I think it's even more emphasized by the fact that I have Moon square ASC.. that's even worse! I literally come across as the opposite of how I am inside.

It's not easy, because most people judge by appearances and mine is *very* misleading. It's hard to actually express all the energies in a balanced way because they have little in common.

But hey, at least I'm not alone in this.

Just the opposite for me. Taurus ASC square Leo Sun (3*)

Im told by friends they thought I was shy and withdrawn but once they got to know me they are surprised by how untrue that is

I remember one session with my therapist I was talking bout how draining it was to try and keep up with my different social groups, and he assumed I would go and just sit in a corner and get lost in the group. Then I had to clarify that it was draining because I was the center of attention most of the time with them and It took away me time. ... Basically, my therapist only saw my outer self and I had trouble expressing my inner self to the one person that is suppose to get behind the 'mask'.

My ASC/Sun conflicts both ways. Its hard work trying to find a middle ground.

Doux Rêve, you know I've just realised, I too have my moon (Taurus) square my ascendant - what can I say? it's tough being us....!! it's comforting to know I am not the only one who feels this inner/outer conflict.

Reading through the responses,I am not sure what is worse, being percieved as careless and talkative when you're anything but, or serious and studious when you're the life and soul - or in my case arrogant, confident and flashy when I'm the reverse inside - I *wish* I could integrate some of that percieved arrogance/confidence into my being! i think life would be alot easier if I could.

Leo Rising Pisces Sun here too.
Yes I can create strong impressions but I see the similarities between the 2 signs more than the differences. I'm happy I can call on something stronger or softer when need be and still be true to myself.

Doux sorry don't mean to pry (but I still am gonna do it anyway ) can you explain the issue of having both a mercurial Asc and Moon? I know they're square but they share qualities too. A friend of mine actually has Gem Sun sq Virgo Moon and she's quite effervescent in her family/social circle but still always at the ready to help out and be on stand by for who needs her. That girl is always on the go, always on the phone (merc/uranus conj too). Then again you have Scorp Sun but still. My grandmother actually has Scorp Sun/Gem Asc. She is more private than I would expect a Gem Asc to be, still a v.deep thinker, *very* spiritual. But the Gem asc looks good on her, it's an interesting combination. Have to say we do all expect her to be dating around the block cos she still has youthful looks, chatty, friendly (gem jup too) so we'll tease her about that but that's just not her. What sign is your Jupiter?
