I'll give you a description of her so tell me what you think her ascendent is:

Short 5'0-5'3, blonde hair, large blue eyes somewhat intense and emotional (you can tell her emotions through her eyes), a button nose (very rounded) has a small mouth width wise, but her lips are very defined her upper lip is pointed and she has a big bottom lip, she has a small head squarish/ovular but it's not long/angular. You could say she looks young and very cute most of the time, when she smiles her eyes squint and the top of her cheeks are rounded when she smiles , everything is very well proportioned on her face.

She has somewhat broad shoulder but they are well proportioned to her neck and head, you could say she is very solid looking, her shoulders are rounded, she is solid body-wise and has thick/muscular thighs, she also has small feet and hands, but her fingers are very long/artistic looking/ and her palms are kinda squarish. She has very sturdy looking hands. Oh and her eyes are a little deep set not a lot but a little and I would also add that she has somewhat naturally muscular arms.

To me from all the descriptions I have read online she is either a Cancer/Taurus/Pisces/Scorpio/Leo rising but I don't really know.

Mine is supposedly linked to being tall, when I'm 4'11 and one quarter.

I think a lot of times people tend to resemble the most prominent planetary energies in their chart, moreso than their actual ascendant. Stevie Nicks has Neptune angular and most astrologers who play the guessing game usually assume she's a Pisces rising when she isn't, based on her appearance.

There's routes your friend could take to get her actual birth time - involves some paperwork or phone calls, or going to local government buildings...it's a pain, but at least that way she'd have an actual, valid time to go off of rather than trying to guess. It's worth it to try.

Yea, she wants to but she was born in Russia and they were kinda secretive about things during the time she was born, so I don't know if it is even possible to get that information.

Example: Virgo lagnas/libra ascendants tend to have more difficult lives than say those of gemini lagna/ taurus ascendant... but of coarse the rest of the chart has to be seen as well.

Unfortunately- this is one of those things where hiring an experienced astrologer is important. Finding out the birth time of an individual takes HOURS of detailed work and it's not likely anyone is going to be willing to give up so much time and effort for free. Even if they are experience is needed to do a birth rectification as it's a pretty difficult process. Astrologers can charge anywhere between $50-$500 for a rectification depending on who they are and how much uncertainty is surrounding the time of events. I know of an astrologer that charges $195 at most for a rectification if you're interested. You would need - the birthday of the individual as well as the dates of significant life events that occurred in the individual's life. ex: when they got married; When they had surgeries, When one of their parents died, etc...

If you don't want to hire someone to do the work, I'm afraid you're only alternative is to use an astrology program and study the position of the planets for each of the 24 hours of that day... this will take you a while... and even then you're likely to be confused.
