ok so today i went and checked my dad's natal chart. He rarely get along with me, mom and my sister, it's like 1 vs. 3 every time my parents fight. Even up to now, I still wonder how my mom stayed this long with him (they're been married for nearly 20 yrs). Well, to cut a story short, I was stunned to see that my dad has his sun, moon, mecury and uranus in leo. This has TOTALLY explained his narcissistic behavior (sorry if i sound harsh to all you Leo folks, this is just based on my experience) which I've always wondered for years. Just to give you an example of what he's doing:
- when me and my sister has done something wrong, or anything that he didn't like (which is pretty much everything that we do) he'll assume that we did it in PURPOSE. My saggitarius moon, being a great believer in honesty, usually causes some trouble on my part because I'll try to explain my self and often end up bursting my anger out.
-he always say "Believe me, I'm right, I've done ALL this before and you know nothing about it" like, literally
-I noticed that he'll criticize everyone behind their back and usually likes talking about their failures
-he compares me and my sister to other people who has done worse than us! even compared us to one of our family friend's daughter who became a teenage mum, for goodness sake we don't even have a boyfriend!
-he told us one time that if we ever go against his plans, he won't think twice of kicking us out of our house...so, basically we can't say any of our opinions.
-when I suggest something, he translates it as to me insisting something 
-and the saddest part, he believes that me and my sister have no future. Like literally bringing us down when he's mad and tells us that we're not going to be successful in our lives or whatever. As a virgo, I find this really hurtful because I've always tried my best to please him and mom. I always did good in school, getting awards and stuff, at the moment I'm studying at one of the prestigious universities in our state doing a really hard course, in fact I'm doing a double degree, I even promised them that I'll finish my studies first before getting a boyfriend. But with him just keep bringing me down, I feel so unappreciated and to be honest, useless. He always think he's right, he never sees the good side, all he see cares about is his views and it's really depressing me I know that i might be just ramming about my hatred with my dad but I really think that his leo stellum had some sort of effect with his behaviour. Now my question is that, are leos typically like this? Do you know anyone who is a leo but isn't really that arrogant? Thank you. IP: Logged |

Yes, a LOT of Leo influenced people I know are very vain and arrogant. One Leo I knew just enjoyed watching himself in the mirror (!!!!) and was very much a know-it-all who hated to be proven wrong, and acted as if he could do anything. He liked to boast about his accomplishments shamelessly, and tried to be 'the best' all the time. Two Leo Moons in my family are hyper-competitive and put other people down a lot, are vain about their looks, like arrogantly talking about how wealthy and interesting they are, etc. etc. The one is a Scorp Sun and is extremely fixed in their views, and like your father acts like they have supreme knowledge of EVERYthing and will even talk over people all the time, without consideration that the other is talking. A Leo Mars I know is very sweet hearted but has definite tendencies to act a bit like they are always putting on a show, and seem overly confident at times, but all her Cancer influences really tone it down. These people all have positive qualities, but these are their most negative. I have Sagittarius rising and my aunt is a Sagittarius Sun, and we BOTH HATE how these people act!!! Because like you, we are truth seekers and hate it when people are pompous and fake. I'm not sure if all Leo influenced people are like this. Maybe at their very worst they are. Also, we have to take into consideration the aspects Leo planets make in a chart. In the first guy's chart, his Leo Sun was conjunct Jupiter in the 12th, blowing it all out of proportion even more and making him have a lot of issues, and both were square Pluto and the Moon as well. In the second chart, with the Scorp Sun, she has many afflictions like Mars opp. Pluto and Sun square Pluto as well.... so maybe other factors play into it all. IP: Logged |

Unfortunately this has been my experience with Leos as well. However, I think Leos with earth or air in their personal planets as well are much easier to get along with. I also believe all signs are double sided, and we have just seemed to end up with the harder ones because the Universe knew we could handle it. I'm not sure how to get along with the Leos such as your dad, or the ones I've experienced. However, there are people are understand them. So far I've seen Libras, Pisces, and Sags be able to tame them. Best of luck, I'll be watching this thread and reading! IP: Logged |

im my experience Leos are definitely arrogant. my mom is leo sun/rising/venus, my bf is leo moon, my bf's mom is leo sun/mars, and my close friend is leo sun. they are ALL stuck on themselves in one way or another and brag about themselves, how great they are, how no one is as good as them, etc. they have very high opinions of themselves and usually, it's not even warranted; often, they have significant failings that they overlook. my bf, for example makes 50,000 less per year than me, but he said the other day to me 'your job isn't better than mine, and we make about the same.' they just cannot fathom being inferior. it can come across as very hurtful at times, but i don't think they actually believe this stuff, i think it's often a cover for insecurity, their arrogance/pride. it does manifest differently in males/females too from my experience. the women tend to be more arrogant about their looks and personality, whereas the men put people down to make themselves look/feel better. and, as a female, it hurts more when the men do it, because it can come across as personally insulting (which it sounds like your dad is doing). i'm a libra, so it doesn't seem to bother me as it might a water/earth sign; i actually get along well with leos because i ignore it when i need to and play along with their superiority complex to get my way. the best way to get along with leos? shower them with compliments (even when you don't believe it) and just pretend if you have to. it's insincere, but works.IP: Logged |

...And the sky is blue. Every sign has a shadow side. At least the Leo dark side isn't really *that* bad, compared to the other signs - there's things way worse than liking yourself too much, which doesn't actually, actively harm anyone else. IP: Logged |

I agree. The Sun, Venus and Jupiter are considered benefic planets, so generally the signs they rule don't have a very *dark* - dark side... so to speak. I am not referring to Sun Signs as such, but the energy of those signs in general - wherever it plays out in someone's chart, including the houses and planets they may have in that sign. IP: Logged |

I know a Pisces and an Aquarius who act just like your dad.No Leo in their chart. *shrug* A lot of fixed signs and squares in their charts, maybe, but alas, no evil arrogant head-up-the-arse Leo. I do understand that there will be a certain sign in our lives that carry all the crappy dark-side aspects of their sign in our lives. For me, it has been Pisces but I don't lump all Pisces people under one personality trait, for I know they are all different. It could be a generational thing. Maybe your dad has some nasty Saturn or Pluto aspects going on in his natal that make him dig his heels in and harshly judge others. Maybe it is how his upbringing was. I would not even think to pin that to Leos in particular. As a Leo myself, I am a harder critic on myself than anybody else. One more thing. I don't care to be "showered" in compliments. I tend to heavily doubt them unless they are from a trusted, intimate source. I prefer to dish em out any day. Eh, but now that I think about it, and yes this KIND of contradicts my entire statement, I will admit I have ran into Leo men who were outright bully-ish. IP: Logged |

Typically? IDK. But I do know that one swallow does not a summer make. I have known people like that. Not all were Leos. And I've known Leos and those with a lot of Leo energy who weren't that way. And as someone said above, there are positive & negative manifestations of a sign's energy, that is just because Leos who "go bad" are that way doesn't mean that Leos in general are that way because some manage to manifest it in a more healthy & positive way. Still, my mom shares many traits with your dad...but she's a Scorpio. I suspect she has some Leo in her chart, however (and being just as dark as her Scorpio). IP: Logged |

ahhh... that sounds a lot like my mom... but my mom ain't arrogant but rather take prides in her possessions and too much pride and values the material more than the spiritual. She has Leo in Sun Venus Mars Mercury Pluo Jupiter.Beat that!!  Just yesterday, she was telling me that some relative's daughter is so smart and has a car with GPS (yesh, we nearly burst out lauging. Mom's defination of smartness). I have been through this all my life and I just looked at my elder sis but kept silent.. no point fighting with her. She won't understand that having a car is not like the biggest priority in our lives. Mom probably feels that as daughters we are not making her able to boost in front of her friends and relaties with something more tangible. My elder sis refused to take this down and went on rattering about letting her live her own life and how she does not like to drive, but if she needs to tavel far, there is the plane!! If she wants a car, she can buy one tomorrow. "If you need to show off to your friends and relatives, show them my bank account! Else you already have your car and your own house to your name!" Conversation went to how she drove dad away and now she said she wants him back and he refused.. da la da la da la... it is still "WHAT SHE WANTS". That shut my mom.. and she went into victim mode. For a while.. till she starts believing in someone else more than her family again. Mom is harmless... just too full of pride and we are her possessions to show off. She has Capricon moon... perhaphs explan her need to manage her children to feed her leoish needs. The thing is both I and my sis are leos too. She is also a Leo with a stellium of planets in Leo too - Sun Mercury Venus Jupiter. I only have Leo Sun. Both of us have Aquarius Moon. She too takes pride in her work and she is easily prone to flattery. My sis knows she is good at what she does, her work and her life is pretty much easy and happy, so am I. We do not need outsiders to validate our self worth. Leos who are secure and confident do not need anyone to acknowledge our worth. We already know it.  I will not be surprise if Mom willingly "sell" me off to a profitable marriage that will reap her some financal gains or to enable her to boost in front of her so call friends n relatives. She has never spoken to me bout true love and happiness as utmost importance... I realize that myself. My life my way. Thank godness for Dad who did gave us some decent education and values.. really miss him... haven't seen hi in a while.. IP: Logged |

The more placement he has here, the more confined fire is. But you can't confine energy, it will have to come out somehow. Unfortunately to you and your family, all that confined fire, comes out this way.
Moon-Uranus in Leo is highly unstable, explosive. Do you know his asc?
I am Leo sun/mercury. Gemini moon. Scorpio rising. I personally never close to another Leo, male or female. Most friends have either Sun or Rising in air sign. I know some warm friendly Leos, none close though.
My mother is Aries sun/mercury, Capricorn moon, Libra rising. She gave me and the family, the same hell your dad gave you and your family. Yet the most non judgmental person I have met is Aries sun/mercury. for one, the Sun is exalted in Aries, there is no confinement there to start with. negative or positive, it's all out. IP: Logged |

Thanks everyone, really great responses from you all.The reason I asked this is because I've known some other leos my self and have became friends with them without any trouble. I know a female friend with leo sun/mars. She is a cool chick, very confident and yes she may be a bit full of her self sometimes but she knows when it is okay to brag about it. I know another leo friend who is very sympathetic and can offer her shoulder to cry on when I'm down. I'm trying to understand my dad, I really want to. I agree that it may be due to their upbringing too because apparently, my dad used to be teased back when he was still a kid due to her older sister having some mental illness. I just found that out today. I think having them talk about their "good qualities" is just a defense mechanism to cover up their scarred pride. I don't know but that's how I am getting it. And I think him venting to us is just his way of releasing all these hidden pain? hmmm.. Yes, I know that other signs have their own down side, I understand that. I didn't mean to make this topic a bashing forum to all leos. I love my dad. I know he loves us too. He values the material things and he always like high quality materials, anything that is fancy and elegant. The thing is, I never knew him too well. I grew up with him not being around the house because he's always away because of his work. He never saw me and my sister "try" because, as I said, he was never there for us physically or emotionally..so he thinks we're just taking life for granted. Yes, they (leos) can be very generous sometimes and shower their loved ones with gifts, but sometimes they also gotta understand that MATERIAL GOODS doesn't always equate to LOVE and that it is okay to be humble sometimes. So I guess flooding my dad with sincere complements will soften him, a little bit? maybe? *sigh* I think it'll be a little awkward for me though but I'll try. Thanks everyone. IP: Logged |

wow lilithpluto, I wouldn't have known what to do if I were to be around someone like your mom, haha my mom actually have had some thoughts of divorcing my dad before. She texted me about it. On the day of my actual birthday. Don't have to wonder what we did on my birthday, I just stayed inside my room because they had a massive fight few days before my bday..sad but true
