What do you guys think? I have been pondering this for a while. I have a gemini stellium of Sun, Merc and venus in the 9th House. I have studied and felt out the Gemini energy. Mercury seems like it is the ruler of Gemini.

Mercury does not seem like the natural ruler of Chiron. Virgo really does to me. The more I plug in Virgo with house Rulers and various things, the more it fits.

What do you think rules Taurus, then?

Shouldn't Vesta be Virgo though?

I played with this idea for a while and there were several things I couldn't connect the two with.

First (and kind of least important), Chiron is not native to our solar system. All the centaur bodies are thought to have dropped in on our area and will eventually orbit out.

Second, Chiron is said to be a trail blazer. "Maverick" is the word commonly used. And though that does apply to the "loner" stereotype of Virgo, the loner quality of a maverick is attributed to being a rebel or an outcast. Virgo's loner stereotype is based on hermitage and the quest to refine one's self through renunciation. The Maverick aspect of Chiron is very strong, especially in charts where the person embraces their wound in an aggressive way.

Third, Chiron (like the other Centaurs) is a generally unpleasant energy. Suffering is part of the learning experience and Virgo's desire to give of their self is one which does not necessarily feel like suffering for them. In fact, being of service can be downright pleasurable. It can make a Virgo feel as if they are contributing. Just like the other centaurs, Chiron focuses on reward from strife. Virgo can certainly fall into patterns of asceticism, but it is not the whole of their being.

Rulers tend to lend in a way which colors their associated sign's energy, down to its core. I haven't been able to perceive Virgo as a sign based on suffering, ostracism, disability, or even universal compassion through suffering. When it came down to it, the only real connection between the two signs I could draw was the topic of health. And even in that sense, Virgo's health focus is more fixated on nutrition and physical health, where Chiron deals with the health of one's soul or spirit (even if that health is achieved through physical issues).

If I were to apply Chiron as a ruler of any sign, I would pare it with Ophiuchus (which is not a sign lol). Both deal with the redemption of the soul and the endeavor to save others from death/ destruction. But even then it's a stretch.

I don't think you are far off for suspecting the connection Ami. I thought I saw something there my self. Those were the conclusions I ultimately came to though. Having Moon and Saturn in Virgo and a very active 6th house, I also don't feel a particularly strong influence from Chiron, as I do from the rulers of my other planets.

=)

Not sure but I think venus rules Libra, not Taurus. Vesta does sound good, but I am not sure
