Could you identify the astrological reasons as to why this happened? Curious to hear some stories.

My moon square Venus need for love and affection. Lots of it.

Synastry I would just have to hit something in them I suppose. Scorpio descendant. Them.

Fishy is in no way my usual type..
Most of the guys I have dated look similar.. He's just the opposite looking...

I like
facial hair- he has none..
I like Muscular- he's chunky/ but stalky.
He's short for a man.

We have opps Venus/Mars
mine in cancer his in Cap
Opps Mars
mine in Leo his in Aqua

I guess the reason is
A lot of sexual attraction aspects.
moon/mars
Venus/Uranus
moon/pluto
sun/mars

Plus endearing aspects
moon/neptune
sun/venus
3 planets in my H12

My Eros/ASC conjunct his Merc..
His Saturn/NN in my H7

PLUS an intense intense composite
that has everything aspected...

Its the mental rapport that we have that has me hooked..
(my dsc in Virgo)

Yes! I fell for a Libra woman who physically wasn't my usual type. However her personality was genuinely angelic. Ceridiwen did a synastry reading for me long ago and basically said there was an emphasis on house rulers that were very active between us because our regular synastry was rather weak otherwise.

Here is our Synastry (I am on the inside):

Composite:

------------------
Gemini Sun
Libra Moon
Gemini Mercury
Cancer Venus
Virgo Mars
Virgo Asc

And yes, I'm a guy!

My husband. He's 18 years older than me, and I had never thought of guys in that age range in a romantic light at all, before him.

I think it's his Saturn tightly conjunct my Venus (and conjunct my Neptune), my Pluto conjunct his moon, and probably most significant to me is the fact that we have the same nodal axis.

my husband -

lol

our moons are opposing~ sco vs tau (instant volatile action)

but his ASC is trine my Sun-Moon (natal trine) making things all mega earthy~

same asc - near same house layout

he has an aqua mars - which hits my vertex node our 5th houses~ (I've weakness for air)

several asteroids in aspect - kaali to my karma which puts it in the moon-sun trine (again)~ completing the earth cluster

- his juno - lilith are on my sun (guess he thought I'd be perfect marriage material - best of both worlds) plus putting them trine my moon - karma again~~~

- bunch of his planets including his AP Venus in Cap 4h are conjunct my ( late Sag-Cap 4h stellium and) Mercury (chart rulers) near exact~ (air triggers? - we would converse for hours back then even forgetting the time - which is a great thing when you have it) ^^;

--- the list goes on~

But he's far from my type - we didn't actually physically meet until we'd been in a ldr for nearly a year - hah - (like my distance) --- he wasn't the complete antithesis of what I thought I was getting myself into~ but pretty close... x_x being accepting of that was failure to read the signs mistake #1 -- lol but I had rosy coloured glasses on back then and wanted to be a true blue "good girl" so we were both not in our element~ >.< he's tall, and was much thinner back then, and rather awkward about himself --- usually my type would be somewhat egotistical - confident, assertive, and def not so tall and lanky~ haha

all well~ we made one helluva gorgeous baby~ <3

(didn't know if i should include it but...)
- his sun is widely cnj my 4h Sag ura-ven/sn point too~ (which oddly enough puts our son's name asteroid and my own -from my chart- right between his natal sun and my natal venus/sn our 4h)
---
whenever someone has a personal planet on that axis there's some kinda "pull" for me, for certain~ not sure the significance really~ but it is strongly felt.

almost time for bed - as always I apologize for all massive errors - gotta be a few more than usual until I get to the docs~ sorry...

I am currently in the process of falling for someone who is not my usual type. Even though he liked me and we are compatible on so many levels, I put him in the friend zone for 2 years because his appearance just didn't do it for me. I like my man sensitive, but tall and manly. What can I say, I have Mars on the descendant. He is older, with cancer rising and he has cancer moon.

We have a lousy synastry but a great composite.

And my progressed Venus is conjunct his Sun/Jupiter conjunction. I guess that means I am coming to love/like him.

Yes, or maybe he is my type and I just didn`t now. Maybe I have more types than one.

I am usually drawn to the artistic guys, (of course he is creative, too. lol), but usually the lanky type with softer features, having a bit of an intellectual air around them. And for some reason they are not that tall. lol

However, this guy manages to overtower me easily (and it is not that easy, I am 5.8, so not that short); very broad shoulders, usually athletic, but tends to be more on the chunky side at times. And the most extraverted and spontaneous person I have ever met. it´s even disconcerting,b ut also fascinating for a calm (controlled?) person like me (I am not a true introvert, but sometimes come across as one, esp. on first glance).

Well, all my "men" do have certain things in common, and one biggy is enthusiasm.

Anyway, this mentioned guy is anything but intellectual. He comes across as very physical, energetic, grounded and instinctive. I mean he just reacts to outer stimulation (usually without thinking as it seems. lol), while I am overanalyzing everything.

I think the relevant astro-configuration for this might be, that though we both have Sun on 26 Sagittarius, his is conjunct Moon, mine is conjunct Mercury.
Plus he has a Mars-Jupiter-conjunction in Virgo; maybe that is the reason he seems so comfortable with his physicality. (which is something I am lacking, I feel more comfortable with my mind).

Ditto - lol..My bf is Pisces and I'm Aquarius and I can't work out whether he's my type or not. I've never dated a Pisces man before and his personality is definitely NOT what I'm used to but there's something about him that drives me nuts in a good and bad way

Not the "usual type" - can be something in between (between your type and the opposite) and that's very possible to happen after a certain age... ^^ It's true that "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" but it's also true that your sense of beauty (not just from exterior but also from within) will change with time. If you get matured from this point of view, you can realize that what you considered beautiful as a teenager - it's just a "temporary illusion" bestowed upon you by the marketing industry.

No not really usually they fit either my physical type or personality type. I suppose transits and progressions would play a major part in falling for someone outside of your usual "type".
