So I haven't really studied what it means to have a critical degree other than the actual degrees it is. So I'm looking at my 8 yr old son's chart and I see he has the following: Moon in taurus @0.33 H7 Venus in gemini @29.19 H9Can anyone explain to me any character traits for these? All I can really say is he really is a happy go lucky kid (well must be his sun in leo ) and he is very affectionate for a boy. But he's my youngest so I don't really care lol he has been called a momma's boy many times (he really IS) and it should prolly bother me but it doesn't. Any info? Thanks, Shy V IP: Logged |

Hi,I've got 4 critical planets in my chart. Moon at 29 Cancer, Venus at 29 Sagittarius, Jupiter at 00.27 Cancer, and Saturn at 00.18 Virgo... To tell you the truth I haven't noticed anything that particularly significant about these placements, although I do want to say that they all FEEL like they are in the sign that they are in... It doesn't feel like there's any mixing at the cusps as some believe. Venus in Sagittarius is tightly trine Saturn (out of sign) in my chart, so I am loyal and selective like a Cap Venus, as well as enthusiastic and idealistic like a Sag. I think this is related to the Saturn/Venus aspect though. My Moon in Cancer feels very strongly Cancerian. In the case of your son he has his Moon at zero Taurus sextile his Venus at 29 Gemini (out of sign, but very tight). A Venus/Moon sextile indicates that he is very affectionate and warm, and it's no surprise that he loves his Mom! He may also be quite charming when he grows into a man. The Venus/Moon sextile is good news for you because it means he is likely to always have a cordial relationship with his mother, for the most part. Critical degrees come at the very end and the very beginning of a sign. Each sign is like a lesson we must learn. Planets at the very beginning of a sign are just starting on their journey/lesson with the sign in question, while planets at the very end of a sign are just finishing up the journey/lesson with that sign. In your son's case, his Moon energy has just started to learn 'Taurus', and his Venus is just finishing up learning 'Gemini'. IP: Logged |

Oh wow I didn't know all that. Thank you for answering and for the useful info. Sooo you are saying when the moon and venus are in hard aspect that would indicate not so good relationship with your mother? IP: Logged |

Not quite. My guess would be that Venus and the Moon in hard aspect, instead of soft aspect (as with your son), to each other would be more of a love/hate relationship. Hard aspects tend to indicate extremes, and drama... With a Venus/Moon square sometimes they would love, love, love their Mom, other times she might drive them up the wall. Squares in particular would be like this. Oppositions are not as bad because it's like two people standing opposite each other taking turns expressing energy... Oppositions are more civilized then squares, and even if there is disagreement, the parties are usually reasonable about it. IP: Logged |

This makes perfect sense to me. Bc I have moon sq venus in my natal chart and that describes how I am with my own mother. I love her to pieces but she makes me batty sometimes lol her and I have issues seeing eye to eye and it has always been that way. But I don't love her any less bc of it. Thx for the explanation!
